Why would they need to accommodate those people? They opted out of the dlc expansion pass, this is their deal. This is the game of the year edition (base, dlc 1&2, TTK). If you wanna play, buy it. If not keep it pushing.

They don't have to rebuy the base game. They can pay the 35 + 40 like the rest of us...or they can buy the legendary edition and save 15 bucks. There's really no fairness going around for anyone in this situation.

TTK looks great, but I am really bothered by the price point... And that the major selling point of the expansion is system refactors.

I am hesitant to pay $40, since the last 2 expansions lasted 2 me 2 weeks until I was in the raid and farming.

If you own both dlc it'll show up in your store for 40 bucks. If you don't have the two expansions I doubt they'll let it buy it standalone.

There is no incentive for publishers to have lower prices for digital games. Period.

I just bought/preordered this bundle, since I had been enjoying the trial version (which downloads the entire game, with just the early parts unlocked), and it immediately unlocked the base game and the two DLCs.

In the case of the LE digital edition, you can play all current content (base + released DLC) now, with TTK unlocking on the 15th. I'd imagine that is the case with the Legendary edition, but I have not seen confirmation yet.

FWIW - bringing a new character up post-TTK vs. now will be different in some significant ways. If you are just jumping in, save a character slot or two for after the 15th.

You'll be able to play vanilla/TDB/HoW. everyone uses/downloads the same client. Someone who only bought Vanilla will have the same installed game/client as someone who has TTK. You only unlock stuff based on your bought licenses.

I own the Vanilla Destiny disc and bought the expansion passes for TDB + HoW. I actually bought the digital collectors edition (since I wanted to move to 100% digital because of a 2nd PS4 that is inbound); after I removed my previous install I could download the new stuff, install it and carry on.

Hmm, having only played the demo I pre-ordered for $50 on Amazon but I did want a digital version since it's a potentially long term game. Would probably play some early, but I know that there are a lot of changes to systems that will effect the early game experience though, so maybe it's best to just wait to play the base game anyway...

Man, I ain't gonna say I'm lucky because I wasn't paying the $80 in the first place, but I'm glad I did wait it out. I was fed up with destiny after 2 1/2 months in. Traded it in for a measly $20 credit. I feel kind of guilty for dropping 60 on the game again, but fuck it. Enough has to have been added in my time of absence....

Bungie already said they are selling the CE emotes and stuff separately for $20. It sounds like however that I won't be able to just buy TTK digitally since I have the base disc for Destiny and the two DLC downloaded or am I missing something?

All of the changes, the previous DLC I missed, plus the new Taken King content was enough to finally sway me back. Downloading now on Xbox One and am looking forward to giving it another fair chance.

It's pretty simple.

$80 was for the Digital Collectors Edition that was released shortly after announced on June 15, 2015. That makes THREE months of playtime for Base + 1st 2 expansions, with TTK preordered. You don't have the luxury of physical because it isn't released yet, so this version is that price to let you play it all in advanced (up to 3 months prior to TTK). Great deal if you want to play prior to today. (sucks if you bought it within the past few days) otherwise you probably have been playing it a good amount already.

Great deal since everything separately is 20 + 35 (season pass) + 40 TTK = 95. This is assuming you can find the 20 base deal again.

Or you could get THE $80 physical CE and wait for 3 months and get a strange coin and art goodies, and not be able to play any of it.

Or you could get the $60 physical LE with base + 3 expansions and not play any of it until Sept 15 as well.

Now that it's 3 weeks away, it's cheaper and here is your new option, digital LE to be able to play base + 2 expansions now.

If you mean the changes to the base game, then no, those changes go live when the Taken King expansion does on the 15th.

I have the disc version along with the two DLC expansions and I can buy TTK by itself. XB1 version at least, haven't tried on PS4.
