Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain | Review Thread | Words That Kill

I'm really surprised with all the best looking game comments, I mean we all saw the trailers, it looks great for an open world 60 fps game (and a cross gen as well!), even kind of a small technical miracle because of that, but outright best looking ever? you guys are taking it too far :P

Would love to be surprised myself, GZ looked so good during night time, I was speechless, but during day-light... sorry but it was pretty average there, wouldn't say ugly but the textures were awful, enemy's models didn't look very good as well when you could see them well, you could really see the flaws and it felt cross gen, it's weird that people are THAT impressed by it visually, I guess it's the crazy hype, I can relate to that :)

It really is blowing Ground Zero's away, I think thats why, there are scenes where it shifts seamlessly from cinematic to game play, and it just looks phenomenal, I have never seen lighting like this before. I could feel the flames burning my skin from the crouch.

Seriously, stores that don't keep street date fucking suck.

It would have been great for everyone to get this at the same time and experience it together but instead we get this crap.

I guess some stores are just going for making a bank with this game, getting ahead of competitors by selling early. A bit scummy practice, I think.

But I'm not hating on any person who has got their copy already, I'd be excited too.
Just bummed about everyone not being on the same page.

awwww boo hoo
10/10 shit post, good work.

Oh yeah I don't blame anyone buying it. I would be too, but stores here in Australia barely ever break street date if ever. It's totally on the stores.

I felt the same a long time ago.

But Then I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Hype.

Seriously, it's very few people who are getting it early, we're just in an echo chamber in here. You're still going to enjoy it with 99% of players.

And what about people who buy the game months/years after release? This is a weird complaint.

I agree, but as I have said in my post the textures work has improved marginally in TPP and prepare to be amazed. In TPP you will see the Fox Engine at its strongest.

They obviously don't care about being in the zeitgeist when big things release. Being a part of the community when everyone is going through the same thing together can be really fun. Remember Fez? Imagine if a lot of people got that game a whole week early and had all the solutions by the time it was released.

Are you being intentionally disingenuous with this reply or do you really not see the difference?

I will carry on, because regardless of anything I don't have time to play this game until September 1st, but I appreciate your trolling.

alright so since you can't play before Sept. 1st, why are you whining that some people can?
Spoilers will always be there, you can do what most people on a blackout are doing and unplug the router

Becaus a worldwide simultaneous launch for the last Hideo Kojima MGS would have been fantastic as opposed to a gradual leak as various stores here and there break street date? Stop the condescending crap.

In the UK its understandable as it's a bank holiday weekend. Retailers worried copies will not arrive for release and people complain.

Of COURSE my boss changes my schedule to a fucking MID SHIFT on the day this game is supposed to arrive to me from Amazon. OF FUCKING COURSE. And ONLY for the first AND SECOND. The second being my birthday. Great fucking luck.

pretty sure you're going to get violently sick those 2 days. ;)

I preordered last week in-store from GS. I'd just like to be able to pick up my day one edition at 11pm central time on Monday night. I'm Chicagoland, northern suburbs.
Hoping midnight release will happen.

Edit: I called, they will indeed do that. midnight EST / 11pm my time.

Ordered my CE from Amazon so I'm definitely not getting it till Tuesday. I am however going to have UPS hold it for pickup so I can drive straight to the UPS Distribution Center when I wake up and get it immediately rather than wait till mid-day or evening to have it delivered.

God damn we all thirsty as fuck for a copy lol

I think for me it's worse because someone in my city got a copy and said PM for the location, but he's been MIA ever since lol. (undoubtedly his eyes are prob bleeding from the dopeness of the intro alone)

And then I call around and a few places tell me they have it in, but won't sell it until Tuesday....

There's only one boss you should be answering to on that day.

You know what to do...

4:15 in. Here are some thoughts. Bear in mind it's my first MGS game. Thanks :)

It isn't the best looking game ever, but it's bloody nice. No issues with the graphics.

Intro is great but the prologue to me is a bit slow in places.

The atmosphere is incredible, I'm literally scared of being seen every second I'm in the battlefield. Amazing.

Controls and feel seem greatly improved from the small bit I played of GZ. This seems a LOT BETTER. If you didn't like GZ, you'll like this.

I've played for over four hours and I am 2% through. This game is long. Value for money is here alright!

Overall I think it'll make a lot of people very happy. It's just a game of incredible scale and life.
