MGSV - MB Coins pricing spotted on PSN

There is no defending this.

Hey man, they're not like, putting a loaded weapon to your head are they? Are they forcing you to buy the microtransactions? No! What are you, like, entitled? Yeah, that's right, you have an entitled mindset towards Konami, who is just trying to make a modest profit! If you don't like it then just don't loan a license to this software property! It's not bad practice, they had this in mind when they started development, so you can't prove they're locking away content! Gaming is dying because of entitled people like you!

80$/€/£ for some Konami Coins...?

It seems to me like the whole FOB system was designed with this cash grabbing system in mind.

Has this had much of an impact on your single player game?

It really bottlenecks the amount of GMP you can get, since sending the Combat Unit out on missions is the fastest way to get GMP and resources. Since I can only do two at a time now (and some missions already require 1+ hours to complete), it really slows down that pipe.

I'm still getting by, but if you can only add more FOB's via this method, it's a huge bummer.

That's really lame.

Cheat engine here I come.

You can never underestimate the stupidity of some people.

I wouldn't really call it stupidity of some people. Even the most sane or above average intelligent people at least suffer those moments of weakness and dig in their wallets at the hands of Microtransactions.

There is a psychology to them, hell, an "art form" (lol) on having the players that enjoy your game dig a little deeper to enjoy your game even more. Sadly, a lot of effort goes into them.

I always wonder who buys these coin packs.

And then I found out each of my coworkers spends about $20, every 2 weeks, on this Madden phone game.

Gaming is dying because because people complain about getting treated by sheep ? Get outta here.

Let's look at things objectively. We're talking about T.P.P, a game where Konami already milked their fanbase by releasing the first mission / demo for almost the price of a full retail game wiht Ground Zeroes.

Now, they instantiate a system where buying bases costs roughly 24 bucks, and where you can spend 80+ bucks on the game to speed things up and get more bases.

And that's not even talking about MGO, which is bound to include everything we can think of : Cosmetic Microtransactions, use of even more currency to purchase stuff, expansions, characters slots, you name it...

If you add the price of Ground Zeroes, the price of Phantom Pain, the price of getting a decent amount of FOBs, the price of Online stuff for MGO, you're bound to be paying like 200 bucks for the game or something.

There you go. It impacts the campaign as well. I love me some long games, but I sure as hell don't want them being stretched out by this kind of stuff. This game will probably wear me out before I even get a chance to complete it.

Anyone playing the game, just how hamstrung are you in terms of research with just the mats and things you earn from missions, and from sending your two teams on missions?, rather than using extra teams from FOB's?

Depends on how you play, you will have to Fulton stuff or you won't get anywhere. Things become expensive as time goes on but I always have enough for what I want to use. But I definetly level up my research faster than I can buy the new stuff available. also I tend to mess around a lot. Best way to earn money is to do missions and send squads out. Their missions end every 15 -25 minutes or so so just keep track of it. If you don't fulton stuff you won't get anywhere with the materials needed.

So in my case I have materials, I need money, but again I feel the drip of new stuff has been fine. Do I need to buy 30 new weapons and items after a mission, no. Buying 4 or 5 I really want is just fine.

I understand and I think you are out to lunch. From the sounds of it everything is still achievable in the game and nobody needs to buy microstransactions in it.

It doesn't sound like you understand the situation, frankly. Modifying the speed of progression doesn't prevent you from achieving certain things, it just prevents you from doing it in the most enjoyable speed. Their entire creation was designed to make things laborious and slow enough to encourage people to pay to remove an artificially created obstacle.

It is certainly quite sad that we are always having to fight against them. I would never buy them personally but it is really tiring me out.

The poster you at replying to agrees with you. It was a facetious joke post, hence the /s in the spoiler tag. ;)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the amount of FOBs also seem to influence how many simultaneous missions you can send your motherbase soldiers on.

For example, I have two missions pending but I can't start a third one because the game tells me I need additional FOBs to send out more units. Not sure if this is related.
um

wow

this is really bad

HIT THE LEVER.

#FucKonami
Basically.

I just hope the default progression isn't too merciless. I haven't heard many complaints so far, but you know gamers.... :/

What's the benefit of having more than one FOB?
Different FOB configurations?

The amount of guys you send out on missions goes up with the amount of FOBs you have.

That's really lame.

Cheat engine here I come.

You can generate GMP pretty well doing side ops, but resources, in particular, are a major grind right now.

Let's talk some numbers:

When in the field as Snake, you can come across resources like Fuel. Each one gives about 100 units of that resource. Where I am now in the game, it costs 18,000 units of fuel to expand ONE strut in Mother Base.

There are Combat Unit missions that specifically give large quantities of these resources (~4,000 per mission). As far as I can tell, this is the fastest way to get this stuff, and with only two units available to deploy at any time, it's gonna be a while before I max out anything.

MGS has changed. It's no longer about stealth, bosses with wrestler names or crazy twists. It's an endless series of open world missions, fought by always-online customers with credit cards on their accounts. MGS, and its consumption of player time, has become a well-oiled money printing machine. MGS has changed. In-game currency buys exclusive perks and gameplay accelerators for real-world money. Nanomachines inside the game code analyze and regulate the price. Playtime control. Game control, Emotion control. Money control. Everything is monitored, and kept under control. MGS has changed. The age of Kojima has become the age of exploitation. All in the name of averting financial catastrophe from stake holders. And he who controls the micro-transactions, controls the player. MGS has changed. When the game is under total control, MGS... becomes expensive.

Yeah that sounds like a pretty big grind there.

So from my understanding, the first FOB can be purchased with GMP, the rest with MB coins right? Why would I buy more FOBs? What's the incentive to having more than 1? Can multiple FOBs be attacked concurrently? Would it be difficult to maintain a Motherbase and multiple FOBs? This seems like a lot of work if you ask me. Defending and maintaining 1 FOB seems to be enough.

This sounds fine really. Anyone know of other advantages to more FOBs other than sending more guys out (which literally just seems to speed up development)?

Well more FOBs means more men out on resource missions - faster resources.

Might impact development time for new items?

FOBs earn resources for you and dictate how many missions your soldiers can go on concurrently.

Now we know who is the real Patriots, they control everything :p
