MGSV - MB Coins pricing spotted on PSN

you are still going to want more than 1 fob...

Well, yeah, of course, it sounds like the wait times get annoying after you've made significant progress in the game. I'm just comparing this to grinding for metal gear ZEKE parts and all the other padding in Peace Walker's endgame.

What do these coins get you? Only FOB bases? Then nothing of value was lost, these FOB meta game is going to be deserted.

I read somewhere that you can also pay those coins in order to not being invaded in multiplayer. Not sure on definitive info about this, though.

Edit: Probably wrong info, please disregard.

If all you care about is single-player mode, then you can simply ignore the FOB stuff. Hell I've been building my mother base just fine for the last 3 days despite the servers not even being up yet -i.e. functionally equivalent to being completely offline.

Game is still great, and based on just what I've played of it so far represents good value for money. I've had 20+ hours of top fun out of it already, and I'm barely half way through the campaign. Cant complain about that, sorry.

Bottom line: I'm not going to deny myself an enjoyable experience to make some kind of muddled point, and neither am I going to advocate for other people to indulge in what I see as a futile and misguided gesture. Boycotting is not going to change a damn thing.

This this this. And all this over some system in a menu that I bet half the people playing the game will forget is even there.

Sorry for asking but I'm a bit lost... Can we not earn more FOBs just by playing the game or grinding?

We dunno yet. Konami has been increasingly vague about this whole thing.

By reading the 2 first pages of this thread it seems I will never touch the online mode! Keep that shit mobile f2p system away from my 60 dollars console games!

Damn, the FOB stuff sounded so cool too. Sucks it's behind a paywall because that just means there will be less players. Konami just had to give one last middle finger to MG fans. Can't wait to be done with them.

Revven isn't 100% right. You need FOB's to expand the number of Combat Units you can send in single-player mode. These Combat Units are used to get resources and GMP to expand Mother Base.

OK. So rather than just BB combing the battlefield and gaining GMP and resources for hundreds of hours by himself, eventually you can enlist soldiers to help do that for you? To be honest, if the game gives me enough to gain resources at a moderate rate, I don't mind waiting. Still sucks though.

Went media blackout on this, what mode is this for MGO?

Both single player and FOB (which is a multiplayer function to the game). It adds a considerable grind to the game for those of us refusing the buy these coins. Metal Gear Online 3 is not affected by it.

I hope not.

$25 to unlock assault rifle guns, otherwise you're stuck with handguns for the first 2 months worth of grinding...

So this could not be related, but I saw a video that outlined how one could invade another person's FOB and basically rob them of their stuff.

If that is true, and you can rob these coins, that would be awesome. Some person purchases the largest pack of these only to get robbed of them.

I know it would never happen, at least there is no way in hell I can see them letting it happen, but would be awesome if it could happen.

$80 is enough for a game. You can fuck off with these, as antitrop put it, macrotransactions. What kind of horse shit is this? I cant wait to be gimped right off the bat invading games because I refuse to pay for that shit. Ah man. This vexes me so much. Still excited as hell for the game but this has pissed away any excitement I had for any online interaction with this game. Fuck you Konami.

I don't think you would rob of these coins. The more I think of it, the more this seems like gems/coins in F2P mobile games. You get a slow trickle through regular gameplay, or you can buy them outright. But they are outside the in game resources, they are just for boosters/constructors to you can do more things at once or do them faster to get the actual in game resources.

Been playing SP and I see no loss in not having an additional FOB. I earn materials and GMP fine. Just play normally and you will have enough to do your usual equipment unlocking as you go along.

Do we even know if coins really cannot be earned? I see a lot of people saying that it is confirmed but have yet to hear it from the source. If it is in Japanese, post it so those who know Japanese can judge for themselves. I know I don't trust translations from anyone else. There's no way for regular players to know yet since online isn't available yet.

Edit:
Looking at a certain tweet, cannot be earned in SP doesn't mean cannot be earned in MP.

$80 haha , that's $20 more than the entire game 0_o
It's not new but it's always funny x crazy to see

I'll be passing on these but my friend will be buying a ton to have a beast base lol

If you are that pissed at Konami, why buy the game and give them money in the 1st place?

I understand people being pissed, but if you are going as far as typing what you typed, not sure why you would support them by buying the game?

With the way these freemium systems usually work I wouldn't expect an obvious paywall like that.

Doesn't matter though when it comes to the grinds that come with these systems. We can rest assured that the amount of resources needed by the player will be dictated by the monetization folks, with the rate of progression tuned to annoy or fluster players just the right amount.

Is MGO also affected by microtransactions?

konami has barely released any significant information regarding mgo, other than I don't know many features that were available from it's predecessor, elocator's mark enemies constantly for a duration or something and that they have delayed the service

so it's definitely a possibility to answer your question

My guess is the only MB coins you'll earn by playing the game is a paltry amount when you login everyday. That's usually how these Japanese freemium games work.
