Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PC performance thread

crazy that this is 20 gigs man

only time the game chugs a very small lil bit at all seems to be while saving. im on an SSD still

The control panel isn't letting me switch the Ambient Occlusion setting. Just says not supported for this application. I updated via GeForce experience. Help?

edit: i'm dumb. Didn't actually install it

Reposting my specs:

i7 4790k (stock)
GTX 980 Ti (stock)
16GB RAM
Windows 10 64 Bit
latest Nvidia drivers 355.82

Pretty much smooth 60fps while playing the Prologue with no dips. All settings are at the max and 2560x1440 resolution.

Will go through chapter 1 soon.

is it possible to build a mid range 6-700 pc that could play this game?

Considering a 500€ Laptop from two years ago can play Ground Zeroes very well on mid details? Yes.

Assuming it'd be your first PC and you'd still need to buy a tower, hard drive, KBM and Windows license (should leave you with ~$500 for the parts which determine the performance, possibly more) you should still be able to build a PC that can play this game pretty comfortably on High - Max settings in 1080p.

If you already do own a PC and only need to switch mainboard, RAM, CPU (possibly not even that) and GPU - $700 will guarantee you Max settings in 1080p and the possibility to go even further beyond.

mh, gettin some drops to 45 or so as im crouching in shadow inside a house

wut. odd

edit: yeah it depends to where im lookin

probably some demanding effect that hadnt shown up proper before

will fiddle later

edit2:

shadows to HIGH
ambient occlusion to HIGH

(as opposed to extra high) fixed it so far.

Need to get those mods going.

Quality PC port. Maxed out everything as soon as I started the game, and not dropped below 60 once as far as I could tell on my GTX 970.

Stayed up late, can't play because of a crash that seems to be plaguing a number of people. Took the week off too. Hope I can play at some point. Have fun all.

I am confused. The servers are saying down on PC, does that mean I can't import my ground zeroes save until the servers are up?

Doesn't even launch for me and I'm on i5 2500k, not AMD. First said I was missing .dll files, then after getting them it's giving me:

The prodecure entry point ?id@?$codecvt@DDH@std@@2V0locale@2@A could not be located in the dynamic link library.

No idea what's going on. I've got my PS4 version sitting at the start screen, but I'm waiting for the game to download to my SSD first to see if it'll launch that way (was downloaded to HDD originally).

What sort of crashes are people getting?
Now I'm worrying if it's gonna work when i get home
Don't dare to go to the steam forums in fear of spoilers

Easily, yeah

yea id be starting from scratch. thanks for the input. ill have to do some research on pricing and parts now. i just need something that could run the game at 60fps with settings on high or at least with ps4 iq. i got the ps3 version tonight and im just so impressed by this game that ive decided the game deserves to be played with better performance. ive been looking to build a pc and this pushed me to finally do it.

Running flawlessly so far (prologue) with everything maxed out on my 970. So happy this was a quality port. Was going to get it for PS4 until I found out about the free Newegg code since I got an Arkham Knight one through them. What a wonderful day off I'll have tomorrow!

Woke up at 2am for some reason. Figure I'd hop out of bed and start the download. Steam says 30 mins remaining.

Thanks for the guide Andy! I'll have something to read in the mean time.

Looks like I should be able to max it out with HBAO+ at 2560x1440 on my Titan X.

Oh man this game is so beautiful!!! I'm blown away just cruisin around on the horse. Just wow.

All settings maxed 60fps no.dips. flawless

1080p

I7 950 @ 4Ghz
6GB RAM
GTX 980

might just play with mouse/kb.. mh..

controller did me good in GZ but headshot precision with tranq pistol could be good

GTX 660
i5 3570k (both stock)
8GB RAM
Win 10 64 bit

I've spent maybe 20 minutes in the open world and so far this seems to be running great.
Here are my settings:

Had some dips in framerate during the intro. Mostly when there was a lot of smoke on screen. Other than that I'm getting what at least seems pretty stable 60 fps. Game looks great!

oh, damn. maybe disregard some of my previous talks about slight random frame drops. havent downloaded the game ready driver. forgot

Denuvo? Uh... I think I'll wait a bit before buying this game. That shitty DRM has burned me before. I still have to finish MGS2, 3, PW and watch Dan and Drew play through 4.

21:9 support?

Probably not, worth a try though, also if no 21:9 support is it stretched on nvidia needing to be run in border less window mode?
