Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PC performance thread

Well since the servers are down on PC and I don't think I can import my ground zeroes save locally I am heading to bed only getting to the title screen. :( Thanks Konami!

How's performance on the AMD Card front?

I have an AMD FX-4350 Black Edition with an XFX R7870 Core Edition, and did the recent driver installation of Catalyst 15.8 Beta on my system. From trying out Ground Zeroes, I noticed an improvement overall in framerate, but I wonder if it transfers well to TPP...

you can just play the game. the ground zeroes import can be done whenever and you just get the stuff automatically

you dont need to do it before playing the game for the first time or anything

Ds4 seems to work natively now but still shows Xbox button maps but not a big deal. The deadlines aren't as big as ground zeroes but they are a little too big for my comfort so I'll have to figure out how to adjust that ... Anyone know? Would be nice if ds4windows let you set anti dead zones

What's there to say, its goddamn beautiful. Only issue I ran into is that even with borderless windowed mode, it still forces itself to be the top layer. So switching the game to the background seems impossible.

so to enable HBAO+ you have to download the new Nvidia drivers?...and then enable the Phantom Pain specific profile or can I just enable the Global profile to Quality?...does the new driver profile have a specific HBAO+ option?...do I need to then disable the SSAO in-game option?

will a future patch add an HBAO+ option to the in-game settings?

Yes this was an annoyance with GZ. Hope there's a work around.

GTX780 (latest Win7 drivers)
i5 4670K 3.4GHz
16GB RAM
Windows 7
@ Everything max and 1080p

Been a constant 60fps according to fraps. Just finished the first actual mission so I've been to a large open environment at different times of day. Hope it holds constant 60 even in environments with more foliage.

It certainly fixed the crash, but no one can actually play the game with this emulator setup as it stutters constantly even in the opening.

I just tried it. It's unplayable.
Yeah, I just tried that too. Choppy framerate and stuttery audio. But at least I've now seen the main title screen, which is more than before. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Apart from 2 random drops during cutscene parts in the prologue, it has been a perfect 60FPS with everything maxed at 2560x1440p on my 970@1544MHz, i7 4770k@4,4GHz and Win 10.

Thumbs up on this version from me. Sucks that some are having problems with getting it to start at all.

280X
i5 3570k

1440p

Everything on High except Model Detail and Textures (Ultra)
Volumetric Clouds On
Ambiente Lightning on Ultra as well

60 locked FPS so far. (Mission 1)

Windows 10 using the latest drivers.

2011 iMac
Bootcamp / Windows 10
i7 2600K
AMD 6970m 1GB

Very impressed with how well it looks and is running on my TV at 1080p, with mostly default settings (textures down to medium, and fps locked to 30)

Doesn't even launch for me and I'm on i5 2500k, not AMD. First said I was missing .dll files, then after getting them it's giving me:

The prodecure entry point ?id@?$codecvt@DDH@std@@2V0locale@2@A could not be located in the dynamic link library.

No idea what's going on. I've got my PS4 version sitting at the start screen, but I'm waiting for the game to download to my SSD first to see if it'll launch that way (was downloaded to HDD originally).

Just to update - it started working for me. I went into the vcredist folder in the game directory and repaired the installation, then launched via the .exe with admin rights. Game has been running great since it launched, now I'm just afraid to ever close it!

can anyone lead me to the draw distance mods for GZ? While TPP downloads I want to see how much space is left for me performance-wise.

any guess when we might see DS4 button prompts modded in?

Im still downloading with 11 hours to go, but Im on it ASAP when it finishes.
Would be nice if you or someone could check if atvaark's gzs tool works with tpp archives. If it doesn't, we'll have to wait for new tools to mod anything.

I'm on a gtx 970 with a 6 year old i7-960. Running everything at max settings at 1080p. Solid 60 fps and damn beautiful.

I'll be able to play in 8 hours from now on...still downloading atm and have to go to work later

Game runs beautifully.

I have a weakish graphics card so I was afraid of getting the PC version instead of the console one, but people here encouraged me to go for broke. Holy shit, I have to thank everyone who told me to go for the PC version because this game looks and runs like a dream. I'm getting VERY constant 60fps(no noticeable drops whatsoever) on these settings:
(Turning everything up to max still got some very decent framerates between 40-60 but I prefer to go for the steady 60)

PC is:

16gb of ram
660 ti
i53450 @3.10

Holy hell this game looks pretty.

i5-2500k @4.2Ghz
2GB 7850 slightly overclocked
8GB or RAM
on a standard HDD
AMD 15.8 Beta drivers

Textures, Model Detail, Texture Filtering on Extra High, everything else on High or ON.

1080p/60FPS, not a single stutter or frame drop, and it looks absolutely incredible.

One of the most optimized games I've ever played just off these initial impressions, I expected to see a few drops but no matter what happened on screen it stayed locked at 60FPS.

you can probably go Extra High on all and leave High on just Ambient Occlusion and Shadows, try it
