Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

i think project cars is good example of what can be done without locking a perfect 60fps and motorsport is what can be done with a locked 60fps on the xbox one. I think if we want more in terms of gfx from forza then we'd have to wait for the next generation of consoles or for forza to be available on pc. I dont think forza 7 will be much different in terms of looks just ike 5 is to 6.
Although I love 60fps and this might sound terrible, I would love to see what the FM team would be capable of on XBO if they dropped to 30fps.

I think all xbox/forza fans have wondered what can be done at 30fps as driveclub has jumped to the head of the pack in terms of visuals. It seems people forget the difference it makes to developers having to get games to run smoothly at twice the fps.
Im sure a game by turn 10 or playground games would look pretty close to drive club if it was to make a track/point to point racing game at 30fps.

I just want to say that regards of opinions, this is one generous and polished demo that is very much appreciated. It shows their passion about the game and they are really thinking about the fans and supporters of the series, well done Turn10

I find it very ironic that several people on the pCARS forums are raving about how unbelievably good the demo is, while over on FM, folks are complaining left and right about dashed expectations.

There is deginitely more grip than in Forza 5. I only played on Lime Rock but I love it so far. Slick presentation.
Graphicaly it's close to Forza 5 but now with 24 cars, more trackside detail, more and better particles and some other improvements here and there which is good for me as I think that Forza 5 is good looking game. I haven't seen rain and night yet though.

Played through the demo, runs really well, rain looks and feels nice, that Indy Event felt so fast.
Just wish it was like the FM4 demo.

MS should just release a new PGR, use the Forza engine, lock it at 30 and give all us all the graphical bells and whistles. Then go on a 3yr cycle with FM, FH, and PGR...

a guy can dream can't he...

It's the FM.net forums, fans are never happy there. Every few weeks around the new release of a FM game I'm reminded why I never post there anymore.

Ahh ok thanks

Really digging the driving so far. Feels really great. Need to jump in the Ferrari next to feel corners in performance vehicle

Also need to jump in pcars and compare how it feels but already in general I like this feeling better even if not as fully race immersed

Really impressed with the demo so far, and can definitely confirm that it's a Forza game. (What else do you expect :P)

One major gripe though and I'm not sure whether it's an issue in the game too or just the demo: I'm racing with unbeatable drivatars and almost all of them seem to drive in the middle of the track constantly. They even miss apexes because of this, and it's especially noticeable at the Indy showcase event.

Rain looks great - the spray adds a nice layer of realism. The cars do look a little 'stuck on' in the wet a Forza horizon 2 was the same in the wet or at night.

The Indy event seemed too fast. By the end of the seven laps I'd lapped half the field, and you just overtake too fast to get any feel of drafting and pushing for a pass. I did have drivatars only average though.

The demo was fun but it isn't grabbing me particularly over and above F5 which I still haven't completed, so I think I may skip this one. Rain isn't something I find particularly fun to race in (although it looks great), so as a feature it isn't a reason to buy for me. Also the 'mods' feel a bit odd. Hopefully they'll only ever be buy able with in-game credits, not real money..

I havent posted there much since forza 2. It was pretty neat interacting with artists and getting designs with the auction house at the time.

I've liked rain in other games as a fun change from the normal conditions. Just having the spray and loss of grip was neat, and games like F1 and pcars have pit strategy involved as well. The puddles are an amazing addition to the forza formula though and real hazard.

So I finished the career bits of the demo. I didn't realise there were hot lap options afterwards - a nice surprise. Especially as we get to drive the Ferrari 430 on the full version of Yas Marina.

The Ferrari shows very well how the handling is different over the last game. There's a little bit more grip - but what feels even better is the progressive way one loses grip and then regains it - it's like you can feel there are tires under there, not just numbers in a computer.

Anyone else unable to start Forza 5 or FH2 since the demo release? It just sits there forever (15 mins at least) spinning on the login screen after title splash, for both games. I assume its the server load from F6 demo, sucks I just wanna get in my daily login to try and move to tier 6 :(

can't get past title screen of F6 demo either, same problem.

Jesus, that place is fucking toxic. Most of the moderators there are complete bell-ends. It used to be a good place for FM info and chat, but it's just a holding pen for grizzle-faced thundercunts now.

Did you try restarting?

What are some dashed expectations?
The only thing that would dash my expectations would be if the AA is no better than Forza 5.

Outside of night and rain I'm expecting the same basic game, just reorganized and with a lot more stuff (cars, tracks) across the board.

Super annoying that the rain on the windshield is apparently running at 60fps during time attack (just like the mirrors) but not during races... 😞

Has anyone tried the power-ups yet? Think they'll add to the experience, or cheapen it?

If by power-ups you mean mods then yes I have. They seem to be another way to make more credits. I had one that gave 30% more credits for doing the race in chase cam. It's totally optional and you buy more packs with in game credits.

The rain is kicking my ass, but like any new adjustment in forza, I'll learn. Presentation is top notch and the sound is incredible, the music is also ten thousand steps above forza 5, especially the track that played during the Indy race, it got me pumped.

Yep, sorry - mods. Couldn't think of the name. It's late..!

So do you think they'll help with replay value, trying different views, control types etc? A bit like Achievements can help with replay value? I'm interested to hear how people think they'll use them, and if they 'fit' with the ethos of a sim racing experience (whatever that is).

God damn this is getting me hyped. So nice to settle back into Forza...gameplay is second to none.

Menu and UI design is great and so far driving feels very nice...definitely refined and tuned over Forza 5.

Can we adjust the Force-Feedback? I have the TX 458 with T3PA Pedals and the Clutch. Whats the overall feeling?

Excellent force feedback once I dropped the level to 70 as 100 was too much in my opinion with 540 rotation. It feels brilliant when you go over the rumble strips or the puddles.

I feel like someone should be coordinating a time trial challenge for GAF based on the demo. I'm still installing now. :-/

I thought the xbone could install as well as download when in sleep mode.

Microsoft/Turn 10 took a bad direction by messing with the forums. Half of the community from the previous FM games have left due to the restructuring of it. It was once a good place for discussion, but now, everything feels empty.

This Demo was very generous, and really showcases the improvements T10 have made from FM5.

The handling is the big one for me. In FM5, It felt like you were driving on ice at times with anything RWD and little bit of power. FM6 - A lot more responsive and more grip (but not too much)

The rain racing is great and the puddles add another layer to the experience. Its freaking awesome!

I'm hoping we see more tracks get the night/rain treatment. I both think they're done so well that it would be a shame to see some tracks miss out. Apart from that, and the AA still being a bit shoddy - the rest is amazing. FM6 is going to be miles better than FM5 and I can't wait!

Wow, I enjoyed that way more than I thought I would. Did they improve the handling over F5? It feels way better to me. I can't explain it since I'm no car expert. Really liked what I just played though.

Btw, I drive with all assists turned off (behind the wheel view). Automatic transmission though, because fuck manual. :P

Just started playing. So far all I see is F2P mechanics and disappointing visuals. Need to get to the wet parts. Ahem.

Or real money, right? The mod stuff feels straight out of a F2P game.

Nope, just in game credits. And why would it? You can't use them in MP and they dirty your laps, why would they be bought with real money?

They explain all this in the demo btw. Which you played.

Or real money, right? The mod stuff feels straight out of a F2P game. So it's not pay to win, but it certainly feels ripped straight out of any popular F2P game.

Isn't the mod stuff just like the upgrades you could get in Horizon 2 (that you know..didn't require you to pay anything)?

There are no F2P stuff. Everything can be bought with actual in game credits.
I think he means the underlying progression system, though. It seems with F2P mechanics being a widespread thing in F2P games, progression in regular, full-price games uses less and less imagination as time goes on.

Obviously I have no idea how progression works in FM6, but it would suck if the only form of levelling up is by form of "XP" or something. It frustrates me with Driveclub, but there's not all that much locked behind player levels. Hopefully there's not too much gated behind player levels in FM6 either... otherwise there'll be some serious grinding :(

Could be, I'm really surprised that there's no option to pay for them. Either way, it just felt like a F2P mechanic (not necessarily monetization system) to me. So what will the microtransactions be in this game, if they don't ever allow you to buy mods?

And? There are no microtransactions, plus they're optional so if you don't like them, don't use them!
