I know that your comment is probably meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but they've never really done anything like this before. They've never put out this many competitive multiplayer maps in a single expansion, and the fact they're letting anyone with an original disc play them for a week is also unprecedented.
I'm trashing on the hyperbole in the presser.

This will be a deciding factor on whether I buy this or not. If the new maps and mode are good, I'm sold. It's my main drive to play Destiny so it's a perfect thing for myself.

DeeJ has been getting better as far as things go. He's still a bit too formal, but he's at least connecting with the players at times now.
TTK adds around 8?
There is 8 new maps in the expansion.
They're also letting those of us that did buy TTK try it out. =)
How is it? They're letting people play what was available at those shows...

PvE players will probably get some love too.
I'd wager we'll see new Taken public events replace them, since the Blades of Crota and prowling Wolf pack events also came out one week before each of the last DLC.

Did I say that? I am excited for all facets of the release but in particular I like the new Spark mode they are adding as it's been my fav gametype since assault in Halo. GREAT lookin bruh!

Really? I love that I'll be able to jump into the new Crucible stuff a week before release; no one was expecting this. Now I won't feel torn between PvE and PvP when the new PvE content goes live on the 15th. It's a great way to roll out a large update, and whoever at Activision and Bungie made this happen has my gratitude.
I don't think we'll see those events begin until the 15th. It's entirely possible they could, but they already tested rolling them out gradually with House of Wolves (I don't believe they were on in every area right away).
Also, sorry if this thread is encroaching on your 2.0 thread, I was surprised when I ran an advanced search on "Destiny" and didn't see a news thread about this early Crucible launch/preview for all players.

The thread title should really mention that this is only for the week prior to TTK, not forever.
pvp has issues yes but you could also be getting nothing until the release of TTK, bungie thought it would be nice to give taste to the new pvp maps early.
If you dislike that then continue running around doing your daily bounties or something, what ever you enjoy doing in destiny.

We know they did this with the patrol events from DB to HoW but with TTK you will not be able to complete any queens wrath missions, so they are completely gone. What's the point of Petra and the reef now?
Look I am okay with seasonal things and retiring stuff for new content. What I am not okay is telling me the content I paid $20 to $40 for only granted me a couple of months access to that content.
Remember you won't have access to anymore Erris Morn bounties from Dark Below either it is all being moved to TTK. AGAIN, I am okay with general retiring of stuff when it's free and not paid content.
Games like Guild Wars have seasons and story lines that you have to be there for, but they don't charge for each season or episode.
Finally I'd be okay if the content from parts of Year 1 scaled or was actually worth a damn.
New players coming in will only have access to shitty story of Dark Below and the somewhat okay story in HoW but none of the other content. It shows to me that Bungie is fucking terrible at scaling the content.
The game should have been designed to lead people from vanilla to DB content being level 29 to 32 to HoW content being 31 to 34 etc or not even use that scale .
As it is, TTK starts at 25 or so, so why would anyone play or replay year one stuff. I feel like if you have a living game you shouldn't abandon your initial product but keep improving it and lord know they shouldn't be cutting any content.
I mean they could have kept one or two zones on the moon still running for DB missions and one or two zones on earth or Venus for HoW missions and then added in TTK to Mars and the new area.
So I am kind of miffed that Queens Wratg goes away. I also hope they go back and add some new challenges to old zones, raids and Arena.

You make some good points. I'm hoping they adjust rewards for the older activities to make them more relevant to player investment, because there is definitely fun gameplay there that shouldn't be overlooked.
Also, to my knowledge, they haven't officially announced whether the HoW Crucible maps will be made available to all players on the release of TTK, as was done with TDB maps on the release of HoW. I had hoped they would continue this practice.

They are distancing themselves from the old stuff, they have learned a lot since launch, they want you focusing on new things while they clean up the old stuff in the future
Petra and Eris are both getting new bounties and missions, as both play a heavy role in TTK from the looks of it. Eris for obvious reasons, Petra because the reef is the first line of defense on Orxys path to Earth.
I don't think they'll be retiring their story content, but the bounties being replaced isn't a huge deal.
I'm wonder if Petras assassination targets will now be spawned in her story missions, as they are linked to grimore. That be a nice way to keep them alive.

Still, it does suck that things like bounties and Trials of Osiris were paywalled with those expansions and now they're being redesigned and replaced behind a new paywall.
I'm going to miss those packs. So much easy solo-able loot. The only time I didn't like them was when I was leveling my 2nd and 3rd characters and the rocket captains would one shot me from across the world.
I love how Bungie changes the pre-existing patrol areas with each patch.
I don't even play trials, but I love the game and will continue to pay for the whole package

New crucible bounty/quest system is going to be a big part of TTK.
You might want to buy that Helm of Saint-14 from Xur right now if you haven't already. Best Titan piece.
