He's coming too huh?

This is exactly what I think whenever I extract someone and Miller comments. Like he's questioning my decision to extract that guy because that guy ain't good enough for Miller's Diamond Dogs. Who is the Big Boss around here Miller?!

Man,
Code Talker's
tapes are pretty boring. I already know what I need/want to know about the
parasites
, I'm not gonna listen to him talk about them for another 25 minutes (
Code Talker and His Research [4]
)

e: speaking of which, holy shit did the amount of tapes you get ramp up in chapter 2. 15 to 30 minutes worth of talking after every mission and important side op, all of which have so far been very short.

You're extracting him?

Lmao

I have one S rank and it was a (what I thought) completely botched attempt where I had to shoot my way out. You can definitely kill people and even raise an alarm. Speed seems to be the #1 most important factor.
That's good to know. Time to experiment and not just run around with the damn pistol all day.

Anyone know the track that plays when the enemies form up and search for you after a combat alert? I frigging love that guitar riff.

Not sure myself but I gotta say, though this soundtrack definitely isn't as memorable as the previous ones, it sure as hell is the best sounding one in the series so far.

Haha, motherfucker he has a B ranking in Intel, I know what I'm doing.

I also love it when I accidentally press L1 instead of holding the button down so I can hear Miller yet again tell me that I can accept missions via my iDroid. Thanks, Miller, I almost forgot about that, my brain farts every time I'm on the field.

He's coming too huh?

That's not one of the targets

Playing the game (still early) you'd swear Miller was in charge of Diamond Dogs except for a cutscene here or there where he gets pissy because Boss clearly follows Ocelot's advice over his. Which makes sense, because Miller is mad with the idea of revenge, imo.

I do wish Kaz would shut up every once in a while.

Can't believe how great this game is, 40h and I'm only at mission 16, I'm taking too much time goofing around!

BUT... got a stupid fail on mission 12 and had to redo it from the start :(
I put Huey into in camion, and drove it oustide of the hot zone losing the new metal gear and... fail? Are you fucking kiding me? Why do I NEED to escape via helicopter :( I was just at the end, boom fail auto save start for the begining, I was not pleased!
no spoil version: if the game explicitly tells you to escape with a chopper, do it, don't try to be a smart ass like me and go out of the hot zone with a vehicule.

The two other buddies are so easy to level up compared to the horse! 5-6 side ops and 2 main missions later Quiet is already max, DD not so far behind and my god are they a game changer. With Quiet it's like I'm playing a strategy game, chosing her sniping position and selecting targets while I circle around always in the back of the ennemis, I love it but I guess it's time to get close and personal again with DD to max him too :D

Miller pretty much is in charge of Diamond Dogs along with Ocelot.

Snake is just the grunt they send out to get them shit and complete missions. Every now and then, here and there, he makes a choice.

I love the gameplay of the game, but I don't care for all of the motherbase stuff. Don't like how the story is told and how nothing really flows. It's a game of micromanagement. That's not something I want in a metal gear game. It would be fine if there were a simple story mode that eliminated the micromanagement and just told the story as it happens.

I don't like the chopped up nature of the game.
This is identical to my opinion so far.

Man mother base is dull. I feel like I'm missing something but I'm starting to realize I'm not.

It's just dull! A hundred doors that don't open, bridges that hundreds of meters long for no reason, and where the hell is ocelot and Miller all day!? I have no interest in going to every platform to explore and find nothing.

Anybody find anything interesting besides
Paz in sick bay
?

Just finished episode 13 and I'm now in
Africa
. Holy shit the part in episode 12 where you have to
hide from sahelanthropus is pretty tense. It was just walking around this boulder that I was hiding behind and I just booked it with Huey when it turned its back. And then having to gun it down as it jumped at you? Amazing.

Oh and I also found the Take on Me tape. Fuck yeah

It is pretty weird how the game is less talky with the lack of extended codec calls but at the same time characters wont shut up about things you've done literally hundreds of times. It's the worst of both.

Does anybody else really hope they give us maps not from the source material? If all the maps are composed of afghanistan...that would be pretty uninspired.

what's up with the extreme loading times for doing simple r&d stuff on Mother Base? (PC version)

I've got my money on specifics of at least one big twist because they've telegraphed it a few times. At least, that's what I'm reading, and it seems kinda obvious in a Kojima "but it's not obvious" way.

Also Ocelot is obviously lying and up to something. Not because he has implied as such, but because it's Ocelot. Metal Gear games starring Ocelot where he hasn't had a secret agenda: 0.

Well I'm 40 hours in, but I'm pretty sure at least half that time was spent retrying missions and running across empty areas. Kojima really padded the fuck out of this game. There's no structure at this point either. The story seems to progress at random points. I keep hoping the ending will make it all worthwhile.

Just beat the Prologue and got S Rank. Not too sure what that means...my first MGS game. That was a lot of fun. One question though: the mission screen says Total Play Time of nearly 2 hours, Time of just 57 minutes. Anyone know the difference?

C'mon, can anyone answer this question before it becomes burried again? MGS veterans must know, and I'm really curious.

As far as I know, that S rank was just a freebie because almost everyone here said they got it.

Also, mission rankings are kind of a new thing. In the rest of the series, you only get your ranking after the entire game ends.

Are you online? It seems to does calls to the server pretty much every time you go to the menu, which can take a while. I've been playing offline (hit escape->disconnect) because of that.

It's due to being online, when you access Mother Base-related stuff. Goes away entirely if you're disconnected from Konami's servers. It's really bad right now, but will probably be better once the servers aren't imploding.

There's not much of a reason to stay connected, though. FOB's and the online element all suck.
