Yeah except that thread title sucks. All it says is surpasses. Surpasses what? Players? Sales? Because the player count number horse shit is what we've been dealing with years at this point.

If he had written surpasses one million sales at launch it'd be another story, but lets be honest, dude fucked up his thread title and Draug's is better, specific and fitting.

This just to show that steam isn't even a metric or round figure. Doesn't even give any indication of how many copies have sold.

With that being said it's clear that single player games 90% of the times don't sell well on PC . Latest Sony Sony single player games also performed like shit on PC.

I get it that 70% of this comes down to pirating these games. Especially since single player games. But this is just a proof that we need denuvo for any single player game to have a slight chance of success.

If piracy isn't really the issue for low sales, then we have a bigger problem where publishers might not publish a single game on PC or make it a priority if a single player game doesn't sell well with denuvo on.

Either way I don't see this a good thing for PC games in general.

Clearly pricing of the game didn't stop it from selling well on consoles.

Yes I said this on the other thread but I will say I again. I love this game and I pray they remake Al Metal Gear Solid game.

If they do Metal Gear Solid 6 and this is my opinion, I want them to remake MG1 and 2 Solid Snake on one game with modern visuals/script. I think they can have more freedom doing that. Just my 2 cents

Bad sales if you consider that this is the golden goose of the Metal Gear franchise. No other game in the series has anywhere near the popularity of 3. How they going to remake Metal Gear 1 and 2 or MGS without investing massively in making more original content and basically rebuilding those games from the ground up. This will be a dead franchise in five years.

The investment in the engine is already made at least. They probably will be using the same engine as MGS 3 Remake, and that should save them a ton.

Is it though? Just because the people that believe that are very vocal doesn't mean it's true, like FFIX.
MGS3 is actually the lowest performing MGS if you don't include GZ & Survive
Metal Gear Solid (1998): Over 7 million units.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001): over 8 million units.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004): 4.2 million units.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008): over 6 million units.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (2014): over 1 million units.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (2015): Over 10 million units estimated.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (2013): 6.5 million units.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (2025): Over 1 million units on launch day.

Delta may outperform the original.

And while I used FFIX as an example, they're not the same.
MGS3 is actually debatable of being the best one, not to myself personally but I definitely recognise it's awesomeness 😁

Yes, this world of Metal Gear (the Big Boss chapters let's call them) has over time become golden goose as far as marketing and mainstream appeal of Metal Gear goes.

Metal Gear 1+2 MSX = Very niche 2D games on obscure PC/consoles. I doubt 1% Metal Gear Solid players have ever even made it out the first areas of these games. Remake potential is high because of their age but cost to remake in 3D is extremely high. Not worth making for Konami.

Metal Gear Solid: The most well known game in the series, already remade with modern conveniences to disastrous effects . The whole game and world would need need rebuilding from the ground up if they want to sell this for $80 or whatever they charge for games.

Metal Gear Solid 2: How is this game remakeable? The whole point of this game's existence was that it was pitched to audiences as AAA sequel to MGS game but is actually a jokey meta-commentary about sequels with a purposely annoying main character.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Again, how do you remake this game without the context of the games that led up to it? The whole game's purpose is just to wrap up the nonsense that happened in the previous games with more silly meta-commentary and throwbacks (about those previous games)

So that just leaves the Big Boss games, and they have now already remade the one that was basically the most readymade to be remade, 3. Peace Walker is basically the one easy-ish one they have and that game is a bit of a dud to begin with.

What's next really? It won't work out for Konami no matter how hard they to beat a dead horse. Fission mailed. Dead franchise incoming.

I would be surprised if Peace Walker is remade, MGS1 & 2 I think are kinda guaranteed at this point if anything, I'm expecting MGS Delta: The Twin Snakes followed by MGS Delta: Sons of Liberty
I also think that is why they dropped the numbers from the title.
I do expect them, and even MGS Delta Guns of The Patriots at some point.
Your worries or point (I'm not actually sure where it's coming from) of how do they remake them because of storytelling and themes is irrelevant.
The game references things that didn't exist until MGS3&4
the only difference now will be your knowledge of it due to MGSDelta Snake Eater if that's your jumping in point.
Ideally they do MG & MG2 next and it will be the big project due to the nature of the source material and despite the intent of the "Solid" addition to the title, they will probably inherit it and be a Metal Gear Solid Delta: Outer Heaven & Solid Snake.
I do think MGS1 is next.
But they have already mentioned that Remakes is their intent along with Remasters of the originals to preserve the series for future generations, but also highlight that both MGS1&2 and more so MG1&2 could not be done in the same "almost too faithful" way as MGS3.

And without Kojima. Thought it's still his game, sure.

Doesn't seem that bad, if they were not unrealistic with their current brand perception and whatever, maybe it's great for them?

I do hope it's genuinely doing well for them.
