To those who have completed it or are just more in the know than I, how many main missions are there?

Also is there any bonuses (besides the GMP boosts) to getting higher grading ranks? I really kind of loathe how the grading works in this game.

Man. Even when you go full action this game still feels really tactical (not in the realistic sense but in its own way).

It's kind of a travesty there's no co-op.

Just made it to Africa and MAN did they amp up the guard's suspicions and field of view without giving you a damn reason. I thought the rain and foliage would give me more cover than Afghanistan did but I guess South African PF's mandate contact lenses or something.

Quiet trivializes the game.

Especially when you learn how to send her scouting and rotate her shooting points, combined with an infinite suppressor.

Wow! (Mission 27 Spoilers)
The fight with the sniper skulls was insane! The atmosphere was so good! I had Quiet with me and we kicked so much ass. She took out 2 on her own before sustaining too much damage and having to leave, but she also left the other 3 damaged. As I was taking on the final 3 I felt like I was in an action movie! Having to move quickly but silently, diving out of sight then readying my rifle for a quick shot. Sometimes a skull would teleport close to me and I would dodge her attacks then shoot her up with my assault rifle before shed teleport away leaving a nice grenade for me and I would dive away just before it exploded. *deep breath*. It was a really great battle :)
This is why I love this game I handled this Completely differently
I had D Dog deployed and was at the end of a 7 hour play session and did not feel like fucking around in the iDroid to deploy quiet, so I just sprinted right through the sniper zone. They got a hit or two off on me but I made it through in my first try. Felt completely badass.

Watching people stream MGSV is fun..or was fun, I was watching uknighted a bunch up until today I thought they were pretty good. At least until one of the guys started acting rather...unprofessional ranting and banning people in chat for commenting on the fact one of the others took half the time to complete a mission that he did, it was real bad. So I guess I'm done with that.

I was really enjoying their coverage of the game too.

I've been trying out streaming on and off with the game myself, mainly so my girlfriend can watch since I converted her into an MGS fan, good times.

I havent gotten to quiet yet but ddog just takes all recon out of the game, maybe it gets harder but damn, i have no need to scout anymore.

Am I crazy or is Morpho/Pequod (assuming it's the same pilot, different callsign) voiced by Christopher Randolph? Really sounds like Huey...

It's really nice.

Quiet can do the same to a lesser degree when you tell her to scout. Plus she can just endless shoot dudes if you'd like her too.

I remember reading this question a while back, but didn't know the answer at the time, or if it did get answered since then. If you park your vehicle near the chopper, it will fulton up as you leave, without you needing to spend 10k to manually do it.

At what point can you start taking D Dog out into the field? He's just a pup for me, but I'm pretty early in the game (missions 8-10).

Im not sure, I thought the recon part was the fun, made missions nice and slow and methodical, now I can pretty much run through the current crop of missions and not worry about a thing because he can detect things 50-60m away from me, including prisoners.

So hes nullified both the binoculars and interrogation

Honestly thinking of not using him at all to bring the challenge back

I just started in Africa a few missions ago and I didn't notice a difference at all.

Question about a side objective in mission 13:
Does rescuing the child soldiers unlock any cut scenes back at mother base? I'm wondering if I should go back and do it. It's just kind of a pain because you can't fulton them and all 4 don't fit into a jeep to drive to a landing zone

From what I've seen, there are two different scenes if you exfiltrate by chopper - one if you rescue just the boy with the bad leg, and one if you rescue all of the kids. Whoever is the "lead" (the boy with the hat, or the boy with the broken leg) acts as the leader and responds to Miller in the same way. It's quite a neat example of game programming.

I like the sound of that, I haven't been having any trouble scouting out bases to begin with, but my issue is it gets real tedious marking everyone in a pretty condensed village/base after awhile especially if I've been there on other missions.

I wouldn't even mind it if checkpoints were more generous or on a 5-10 minute timer. Marking and taking out 20 guys in an area over 30+ minutes only for the 21st guy to spot you and cause me to need to go back to my checkpoint, undoing all my methodical work.

Mission 18 and 20 were amazing. Only complaint I have so far is that the game is getting a bit easy, hopefully the enemies get some upgrades soon.

I was dreading mission 16 based on posts here but I ended up doing it in 1 try. Luckily I had the fulton upgrade to lift trucks and D-Walker helped me jet the fuck outta there.

Also, here's my Nude Team

Quiet's poses in the helicopter are... interesting.

Kojima sure went ham on the whole fan service bit. I don't like her outfit one bit and unfortunately, blood, silver and gold outfits aren't doing much to alleviate that.

Luckily, D-Dog is a baller.

Quiet is incredible. Maxed her in a couple of sittings. Best bud in the game by a mile provided you give her direction that maximizes her talents. I've taken out entire bases by simply calling her shots. Together it's full on surgical decimation -- the enemy doesn't even have a chance to go on alert half the time. On top that her scouting is just as useful as DD's, if not a little better given her increased range and speed.

Helicopter rides with her are never boring either:

The whole Quite "Ashamed of your words and deeds" has me confounded over if Kojima's a stupid troll or an utter cunt.

I totally get this, I am a completionist so I go back and do missions again...and again.......and many more times to get S on everything which means im like 50 hours in and still only just hit Africa (I do a bunch of side quests too). I dont mind the grind so much because I really enjoy the payoff but yes, getting spotted after an hour of prep is really horrible and has happened so much.

I am gonna disable ddog though, I liked my horse and it takes the fun out of it to get so much info, feels less of a stealth game.

Does Quiet call in her own supply drops? Because I see random supply items throughout the map where she usually takes position, and she never runs out of suppressors or ammo.

Get the
Gray Xof outfit, it's the full military suit from the opening of the game.
Personally I don't have a hard time ignoring her outfit.

It's definitely a completionist thing when you need to fulton/find everything, it gets rough having to recon on top of that.

So I just finished mission 25 and I need help involving sick staff.
How do I know who is sick and who to quarantine? I can't send anyone out on missions and I'm scared to continue help :(

Question, do you need to do the replay of story missions on harder difficulties to unlock more story content or can you just go through side-ops for that?

When do you get this? I just finished mission 16 and don't want to miss it.
Med bay building, 3rd floor, unlocked blue lit door.

Quarantine anyone who speaks Kikongo in the languages. Also those who are unsanitary as well.

So I'm up to mission 8. I think.

Anywho, the briefing says "Recommended Weapons(s): Missile". What does that mean? Should I develop a rocket launcher or is it referring to something else? The UI for this game is a little overwhelming tbh.

Yeah you'll probably want a missile for those missions. They usually require you or expect you to destroy a tank.

It usually means you're going to need something that causes a big boom. You don't 'need need' it, but it's recommended. C4, Missile from a distance, grenades...how you do it, it's up to you. LET THE LEGEND COME BACK TO LIFE.

Yes. That's exactly what it means. C4 is helpful too in this mission for ambushes, but the rocket launcher is a must.

Yeah you'll have an easier time if you have a rocket launcher, but you can beat it with C4.
