We're at 50 songs and they're advertising 60+. I'd say we have somewhere between 11 and 19 songs remaining.

I'm guessing that the master tracks for Cowboys From Hell are borked, huh? This and GH Live both use live versions.

I assume so. Guitar Hero: Smash Hits also used a live version.
Would probably be a good guess. Same reason every music game uses the live Spirit of Radio and Sweet Home Alabama.
What's funny about the Spirit of Radio Live version is nobody knows where it comes from

Pre-order bonus, but not permanent. All songs make their way to the store at some point.

Yeah, there's no bonus tracks for the game only (or game w/ adapter).
Doesn't bother me too much since you're investing in hardware and Mad Catz' health seems to be banking on RB4 instrument hardware. Which is kinda why I think they might cancel any of those bundle orders with that discount.

The Xbox One version of the band bundle selling out from Best Buy, although, to be fair, the GCU discount is certainly a factor.
My email shows the discount. I ordered the bundle. I believe the order has to be over $100 to get the discount. I might be wrong though.
It'll be really interesting to see the console split for this entry. Obviously PS4 has the bigger user base, but Xbone will inherit a ton of the hardcore RB fanbase who used 360 last gen (because it was the best choice for RB) as well as people who own a PS4 but would rather buy an Xbone for RB4 than re-buy DLC. This is also a huge reason why MS especially would never allow cross-platform DLC migration.

Which is sad considering I had a nice collection of purchased songs on xbox 360 but there's no way I'm buy an Xbox one just for this. Nothing else interests me and I'm already a ps4 owner.

This is me. I didn't have an XBO or PS4, but old DLC porting over made it easy for me to bite and get an XBO just for Rock Band 4.

It works for the band bundle but not the Guitar bundle. Not sure what the deal is there.

Have people actually been charged? That's the only way to be sure it works. Since the official rules say the discount will not be applied, it's easy enough for MadCatz to find the problem by the time the game ships and charge the full $250.

Despite the terms and conditions of the offer, the discounted price is reflected in the shopping cart. As I had two adapter bundles, the pre-discount total was $160 and after discount, $120. Looking at my online credit card statement, they've charged me $160 though.

My banking statement has a $207.49 charge, I bought the full bundle. My Madcatz page also has the discount applied and everything listed. It's pending fulfillment, but if they cancel the sales price I'll just cancel the order or fight support for it.
Fun fact: Guitar Hero Live doesn't use master tracks anyway. At least not for Guitar Hero TV songs.

Getting game and guitar for £50 so i'll grab RB4, I can't see me playing it much though with no online and no ekit support

Man I never could find any of these boxes and I have looked at a lot of different local grocery stores around here (Crest, WalMart Neighborhood Market, Homeland).

It could be true but it just seems bizarre that they would license music videos and somehow not license master recordings of the songs.
The music videos are just for GH TV iirc, the GH Live side of things are those FMV "stage" videos

But you just said there are no masters for GHTV.
We know Live has masters for certain because all the demos have had master tracks, and if they have licensed music videos for GHTV, there really is no reason why they wouldn't be using the original recording.

They probably didn't license the masters for the music videos because the GHTV portion is streamed. Even if you buy a track from GHTV, you have to be online to stream it whenever you want to play it.
GHTV is a good idea, but the fact that you can't actually download the songs is a huge turn-off.

I think you're just confused about what people are referring to when they talk about "masters." One use of "masters" is masters vs. covers, which they talked about a lot in the old days when the games used a mix of original recordings and cover versions of songs. That's not what people are talking about here.
The "no masters" thing for GHTV is referring to audio stems, which is what Guitar Hero and Rock Band games have always used. When you play a song in these games, if you make a mistake or stop playing, the audio for the instrument track you're playing (either guitar, drums, etc.) will mute. So if you're not playing your fake instrument correctly, the real instrument audio won't play correctly either. For GHTV, they aren't using those stems anymore. Unfortunately this means the quality of the charts is probably going to suffer a bit (someone with access to a clean instrument audio track is going to be able to make a better chart than someone trying to pick guitar out of a full song mix).

I asked Madcatz about release day shipping from their store for preorders, but they don't have the details yet. Still holding out for release day shipping since I live in California.
Those preorders aren't at risk of being canceled or charged the regular $250, right? $207.49 after tax is too good to pass up.

It definitely could be canceled or charged the regular $250, some people who already had their card charged it was charged for the full amount. It's really up to Madcatz, since they specifically said the Labor Day code wasn't good on preorders.
They can cancel it, but they can't charge more than on the invoice.
Their online store sucks and they typically do an authorization hold that goes away.

Really hope we get some news on the RB3 export soon. So many songs I love trapped on that disc at the moment. Would also love it if licensing issues will now allow the 5 lost disc songs to return as DLC some day - Heir Kommt Alex, Rock N Roll Star, Battery, Let There Be Rock and Any Way You Want It. Love to play all 5 of those but don't want to pull out RB1/2 just to do it

Anybody else buying the guitar bundle and getting a drum set/mic later on off of eBay? I am trying it out since $250 is hard for a college student like me to plop down all of sudden.
