You haven't heard all of the tapes? Zero goes to visit BB in the hospital.

And that tape specifically shows that they haven't made up. Zero doesn't want Snake dead because he respects him and thinks he can still use him.

Zero's a master manipulator, of course he still has confidence that he can eventually wear Snake down. Skullface is a new threat to Zero, keeping Snake alive and setting him against Skullface seems like a prudent move.

MGS4, PW and MGSV are better off just not existing considering how much they fuck up making any damn sense of...anything. They overcomplicate and at the same time reduce the story and characters of MGS1-3.

He had to kill him to stop the patriots AI iirc.

Nope. BB explains in a long string of 0s that he has to return or reduce Zero to errrr, Zero.

If kaz was blind he coudn't have taken the gun from that kid when he arrives to base. i think they are damaged to look like infected and make you doubt if he is or not.

I figured Kaz just has what Kudo Tsunoda has - photosensitivity aka his eyes are very sensitive to light, hence why he always wore the sunshades.

people keep saying BB & Zero made up
Big Boss was in a coma when that happened I'm sure he didn't know and probably didn't care because he still was cloned without his permission, blown up, and made into an icon, he still wanted to fuck Cipher and the Patriots up.

^I enjoy MGSV a lot, but remove Code Talker, all chatter of The Patriots/Cipher and add in Mission 51 and it would have been more satisfying. MGS4 sucked more, I agree (in a story sense)

I much preferred it when BB just did it because he loved war more than sex and wanted it to keep going on forever and was just a crazy PTSD nutjob wanting the world to be in a constant state of war rather than this Patriots nonsense.

I can't ever forgive MGS4 for that. It gives up on itself before the halfway point and tries use nostalgia to get you to the end. "Look, it's young Snake", "Look, Shadow Moses!", "Look, Psycho Mantis. He was in MGS1. Remember when it was good?".

I don't mind callbacks to previous games every now and then but it reached a ridiculous level with MGS4. It's like MGS4 was trying to make itself seem better by association with a truly great game like MGS1 instead of doing its own thing.

I mean, he is japanese. Japanese males generally get superpowers when going blind. Like in one of my japanese anime.

The game could've been that way, totally fine with that. But at that moment, the game should've switched to real Big Boss and see his downfall.

Honestly, I don't think we need to have a "Darth Vader" moment for Big Boss where we can pinpoint "that's when he became a villain". It kind of cheapens his character imo. From what I know about him and from what the games have showed me, I can make the logical connection that yes, that guy could become what he eventually became as a natural progression of his experiences and ideals. I don't need to be shown the moment that happened, if there even is one. So, TPP is just another chapter in his life.

Though I guess it's totally Kojima's fault for marketing this game as the Return of the Sith of the MGS saga.

I still think 4 was a great conclusion to the series, it actually felt like an end and attempted to solve the humongous amount of questions rather than just throwing things to the side.

I still maintain the idea that an awesome premise for the game would have been:

Chapter 1: Play as Big Boss, build up your army, your base, your resources. Have the story and all that shit.
Chapter 2: You play as Solid Snake, taking down everything you've spent the first 40 hours building up.

Post-Credit Codec Call:

IT WAS VENOM ALL ALONG SNAKE. THE REAL BIG BOSS IS IN ZANZIBAR OR SOME SHIT.

Chapter 1: Cut all the filler episodes, make them 30 and include the true ending as episode 30
Chapter 2: Play as the real Big Boss, build Outer Heaven and do some bad shit, at the end have beef with Venom
Chapter 3: Venom betrays Big Boss and you play as Solid Snake now, ending on the kill of "Big Boss' Phantom"
Epilog : You see Zero in his sickbed talking to Big Boss:

Zero: "Everything went as planned"
BB: "...."
BB: "Kept you waiting, huh?"
Zero: "hehe, V was a great soldier, but sacrifices had to be made"
Zero: "We stopped him becoming a demon, not like us"
BB: laughs - "No, you didn't"

Stands up and leaves. Zero knows now, this isn't Big Boss, this is Venomous Snake. Fells into a coma.

DUDUDUDUDUDUDUM.

Venomous Snake - A Soldier Living A Lie, Until He Dies

How is Big Boss a legacy? What do you even really mean by that? Its not some mythical figure or ideology. Big Boss refers to a very specific and important person.

It's not just a title, it's Jack himself. There was only one Big Boss prior to this game and no other character in the MGS universe has even wanted to go by that name. It's not the name that carries importance but the man behind it.

Kojima knows how invested the fans are in this particular person which is why he gave us trailers presenting the Big Boss story that we've always wanted.

We'd much rather have that than some meta bullshit about the player being Big Boss and Kojima knows that. It's a very loud and clear "fuck you" to the fans and nothing else.

It's nothing more than Kojima stroking his ego and getting off on the fact that he's so daring and unexpected that he's fooled us again.

Why would I even want to be told that I'm Big Boss? I know for a fact that I'm not.

Why would Kojima even be thanking the fans anyway? This game started planning 5 years ago, long before it because clear that this was his last MGS game.

So much of the games in the post-Snake Eater timeline show that others created a cult of personality around Naked Snake. Big Boss has become more of an idea more than a person by Phantom Pain. Look at how long it took him to actually adapt the name Big Boss. He didn't want it despite so many "fanboys" pinning it on him from Ocelot to Zero to the everyday soldiers across the world. People idolise him in game, just like people in real life idolise him. This is a repeating theme throughout the series, the legend vs the person behind the legend (the legacy of The Boss is the genesis of so much and MGS2 took this to an extreme on the player's end), so it's not hard to believe it to be the closing point of the series would be something more than fan-wankery ala 4.

And hey, fans kept asking for sequels. They got their pandering in 4 but they kept asking for more. A certain level of "fuck you" feels deserves at this point. You get you're chance to pretend to be Big Boss one last time in the truest sense. Also just because you set out with a goal for something doesn't mean you can't change as you build it. At some point he knew shit was going to hit the fan and could have worked in the "thank you" part.

I dont understand people saying this game is bad or that 4 is better. Sure the story is a let down but the gameplay is by far the best game I have ever played. There could be no story for all I care.

I think that BB never really outright becomes a 'villain' he's just a person trying to reach his goals from his own path. He's done some awful things, but no one's hands are clean in Metal Gear.

This game, even thlugh it feels unresolved, still shits on 4 from a great height honestly.

It's not like mgs4 had a good story.

In the scene where Quiet jumps into the chlorine, it's very clear he's blind.

There's also that bit where the kid moves backwards and walks into Miller, knocking him over like a skittle. If he could see, surely he would have caught the kid in time before that happened.

You'd guess if Miller was actually blind it'd be adressed in the game.

That's no 50 hour in story part, its right in the very beggining.

He didn't spot it, he was just randomly prodding around it until he made contact. If he wasn't blind, he would've prodded it first time.

He probably heard the noise when it dropped if his aural senses are amplified.

Lol. I can't believe this is a debate. Maybe he is just legally blind and lost his drivers license, but he can still makes things out well enough.

Stopped the freaked out kid with his crutch and leg right
It's not like he could have moved out of the way in time either with his incredible mobility

He moves Skull Face's gun and XOF patch with his crutch when they're on the ground. I don't think he's blind.

Yeah he's always looking/walking and pointing at the right things to be blind.

I think its just that his eyes are messed up and it hurts in the light.
