Quiet is a pretty cool idea for a character, but not very well thought out... Like, why doesn't she communicate through writing. Or use a language other than english... One thing I didn't understand, did she sacrifice herself by leading the helicopter to BB? Did the parasites start killing her? It seemed like that but not well explained.

The more you use her the better she performs.

You didn't even get the "Cover Me" command for fucks sake. You have no idea what you're talking about.

And FYI I thought the character and her story as presented in the game were terrible. Though it had potential, it went nowhere.

Not my fault she doesn't have anything by default when I first tried her, I didn't even know I had to use the iDriod to give her commands. At least D.Horse was ridable from the get-go.

In the defense of MGS4, it has 2-3 moments where I get teary in the eye. MGS V hasn't even one of those scenes.

Edit: yes I said "EYE" BECAUSE I AM BIG BOSS YOU KNOW?

In the defense of MGSV (And I'm playing Devil's Advocate here), I really liked the mission where you have to kill the infected Diamond Dogs, and some of them even stand tall and salute you, knowing full well that they will be killed by their beloved Boss, but understanding why and accepting their fate.

That was amazing, I have to say.

Well, when you kill your men on MB is pretty intense at the end.

Not microwave corridor intense, tho.
I still put MGSV over MGS4, since it's at least fun to play.

Because they view it as a toy, and no one dings points if the plot of GI Joe's sandbox playtime doesn't add up.

Some Russian previewer slammed it to hell and back a couple of months ago, but people unanimously opted to tune him out.

I'm not saying it should have necessarily affected the score but it wasn't mentioned. The sparseness was mentioned, but nobody talked about how it didn't gel together. Some were even praising it for being deep and reflective.

She did speak another language to Code Talker in one scene.

Not sure about why she left.

again, I think that Quiet's story had potential but it just gets ruined by her tits, stupid cutscenes and pretty much the character itself.

No Snake should be clean shaved. Well, Liquid on the other hand..

This is wrong. His best look was in 2. Though his MGS1 sneaking suit was way better-looking.

Yeah, in this game only the Quiet ending, mission 43 and the Strangelove tape managed to elicit some legit sad emotional response but even then it was only went as far as "Aw man, what a huge bummer."

MGS4 though?

I still don't understand why the revisited Ground Zeroes stage isn't in TPP. It's already developed, how isn't it included?

I agree with you guys, but it just didn't hit me that hard.

Yeah, man. A couple of the bigger review sites talked about how the ending is something that will stick with them for a long time -- that they're thinking about it constantly, and that's cool.

...I have to hope they're talking about Chapter 1 when they say that, at best.

4 had a habit of undercutting the emotional parts with stupid shit right afterwards. Like that microwave hallway scene, followed up by Snake throwing up on the floor, then fighting off a bunch of those little robot bastards.

I agree with you guys, but it just didn't hit me that hard.

It did hit me. But I admit the whole time I was wishing I was controlling the real Big Boss instead. The scene itself was great, but if I was playing as Naked Snake having to kill the comrades he recruited during Peace Walker would've been 10000 times better.

This Paz shit is driving me fucking insane. Can't you look at all these stupid pictures? I have to keep leaving MB and coming back. Goddammit. I smoked like 4 phantom cigars and she was still asleep. Fucking Paz.

Beat the game, he is in a few tapes (lol)
Phantom Cigars always worked for me, have you tried waiting till the sun rises/falls? keep at it for a day or 2.

That was a pretty good mission.

Play side ops.

Then let's exile Huey.

Play more side ops.

Then lol let's replay the tutorial with zero changes, and add some terrible story twist after that, oh and dump an hour worth of tapes afterwards.

The end.

A Hideo Kojima Game.

Really do not get the complaints about the ending and lack of "completeness", especially coming from alleged fans of the series who really should appreciate its place within the overall continuity of the saga.

Not that the game doesn't spell it all out in the post m46 text crawls and voice overs!

Considering chapter 51 isn't in the game, let's see what MGSV ends on. Eli and his band of child soldiers fly off into the sunset with Sahelanthrapus never to be heard from again. The english parasite flies off with them. Vocal cord parasites are still a thing and is never resolved. It's only quarantined on Mother Base. The Boss AI pod served no purpose except to convict Huey. I'm sure only "real" MGS fans could love an ending like that.

I predicted the twist even before the game came out and actually admired Big Boss for going through with such a crazy plan to create a body double. But I expected the actual reveal and revelations to be more substantial than what we got. We even trigger the "Truth" ending in such an anti-climactic way. You're back in your helicopter. Check your idroid to see what new missions there are. And hey, just so happens to be the final mission with no real story basis leading into what jogged your memory of what really went down. Was the shock of killing his own men enough to trigger this memory? Possibly, but Fake Boss is such a non-character that these few character development moments feel hollow and unconvincing. I felt more genuine emotion from Fake Boss during the Paz scenes than anything else in the game.

The only good mission from Chapter 2.

When I saw the red band trailer I was impressed by the scenes, I had somewhat of a hard time to see Quiet being tortured. But put in this games context I didn't give a shit. Also because I take her on missions, seeing her helping a kid, and then being called back as shes being tortured all of a sudden. I was like 'whatever, I can use her after this scene anyway'. And they were fucking stupid, the missing parasite was very close to you. So they are like 'someone who acted strange? Watch out boss'. Come on, its obviously Quiet.

Those scenes are ham fisted. Like, 'come back to MB, we've got news for you!'. Okay, scene...

Exactly. They just obviously threw a bunch of scenes together and wished for the best with this game.

yes they stand there and salute you in the last room, with music in the background.

there are a few good missions in this game but that's it.

I don't get how people are effected by the Stragelove tape, it's so bad. Most of the Voice direction is bad.
The Code talker research tapes don't even sound like something a scientist would record for his records, it sounds like a substitute teacher came into my home and gave me a lecture about Dinosaurs.

Yeah, pretty depressing moment. -heroism.

I think my gripe with this scene is that I don't have a personal relationship to my diamond dogs. I wish there were more intereactions with them on MB, would have a greater impact for sure, at least for me.

Spelling out the ramifications of the ending is not in any way the point. So many people have made a similar post to yours completely missing the complaint.

As a story, like a plot with a beginning-middle-end, the game is incomplete at best. At worst, its barely there.

Well, maybe the complaint is just horseshit then?

Just because its not a conventional 3-act structure does not mean its incomplete or invalid.

The story is structured around the game-play, specifically the whole base-building metagame. Content-wise its business as usual, Kojima using the props and stage-dressing of espionage/war-fiction to riff on various themes and concepts he finds interesting philosophically and ludologically.

Also, Quiet's VA was bad, unless we want to pretend that it is purposely bad because she hadn't talked in a while...

It was passable. Really awkward at times, but passable.

(maybe I only feel that way because her lines were next to nothing though)

Maybe they should've hired a professional voice actress then...

Why? Quiet IS Stefanie Joosten, they scanned her face, body, she did everything herself, motion capture, voice etc. why should anyone else voice her?
