Went to launch MGSV (steam) and it did an update. I was shocked so checked the download and it's only 72MB.

Probably fixing the gun customisation thing and taking Quiet away from those that hacked her back in.

The intro cutscne labels the room he's in as

OUTER HEAVEN
Another day in a battlefield without end

Or something to that effect. Operation Intrude was also a very specific operation conducted in '95 so there's no way that tape could have been sent any earlier.

Big Boss masterminded Operation Intrude, so it's not a stretch that the tape could have been telling Phantom Big Boss his plans to create the whole Outer Heaven incident, including the eponymous op.

If he received the tape and then everything transformed into OH, then it could be he's going along with the plan.

Ocelot says he will hypnotize himself to believe Venom is BB. This occurs when "V HAS COME TO"

Why then would Ocelot go to meet the real Big Boss when he believes Venom to be "the real BB"

Because the tapes are a lie. Do not believe Zero's rewriting of history m8s

LOL

Also Operation Intrude N313 is given to SS after Operation Intrude N312 fails (Gray Fox mission), so I think it's entirely plausible that scene happens as Solid Snake is tearing up Outer Heaven, and real Big Boss sent the tape to Phantom Faker prior. There's no way he could have masterminded using Solid Snake as a Foxhound member all those years prior...unless that was part of Operation Intrude N313 in which case holy shit.

No it's fixing the save glitch that happened with Quiet in mission 29 and 41, and fixed a glitch in the FOB tutorial.

And we know for a fact in the info dump that venom dies at the hands of Solid in outer heaven.

For those interested; during MG1 half way through that game you need to change the frequency you talk to Big Boss on, from that point on he purposefully tries to get you to do things that would kill you.

I like to think the frequency change is actually venom taking command from the hands of the real Big Boss in an attempt to stop his own death.

It's funny that I immediately noticed that weird picture with Kaz and the others in the chopper that was bent in such a way to obscure one character. For some reason I always thought it was Ocelot, only after the end did I realise that Ocelot couldn't have even been there.

there is a moment where Ocelot says he will need a way to know that he is the real BB

Why would he hypnotize himself before getting Big Boss set on his way?

Which is why that entire plot point falls flat on it's face.

Why the fuck would ocelot need to trick himself into thinking Venom was the real Big Boss?

HE ALREADY KNOWS THE PLAN. He could have just gone along with Venom anway knowing he was fake, especially as he plans on regaining he memory later...

So dumb.

HE ALREADY KNOWS THE PLAN. He could have just gone alone with Venom anway knowing he was fake, especially as he plans on regaining he memory later...

So dumb.

Yeah I'm not sure what the point of all that was. It's not like he's tricking AIs this time or anything, and he's pretty good at playing as a double agent.

When Ocelot wants to play pretend he takes it VERY VERY seriously.

I'm listening to the end tapes now, and I don't understand why Zero would want to save BB. I thought they went their separate ways and were fighting each other, especially with BB killing Zero at the end of MGS4?

Also, if the Patriots were under the control of Andersen, why was FOXDIE developed to kill Andersen? Or was that Solidus' work?

Ocelot has a precedent for convoluted brainwashing.

The only thing I can even think of is, he has self-doubts in being loyal to venom when he isn't the real BB who he idolises.

But even then....

Ocelot is no amateur, he's used to working for people he doesn't like.

In MGS1 hes working for liquid, when actually working for Solidus, when actually working for the patriots, WHEN ACTUALLY WORKING FOR HIMSELF.

What if Skull Face captures Ocelot like he did Miller, and gets the information that Venom was fake?

Or maybe the AI patriots between Metal Gear 1 and 2?

Ocelot is a careful motherfucker.

Maybe it was in case he was ever captured and tortured.

Alright I have finally beat the game, and it was simply amazing.

When I was playing the Truth at first I absolutely hated it and rejected the idea (I was ready to just put it out of my mind like Ocelot hypnotizing himself). It was not until I saw the timeline and debriefing that I realized it was awesome. Just the initial reveal the whole game took me a back I suppose. Thanks to the op I also watched the cut mission and that gives me more and enough closure than I need for the story.

What If?

more like SO WHAT!

He has absolutely zero leads on the real Big Boss, shit Ocelot could be lying and sending SkullFace on some wild goose chase if he told him about the 'real' Big Boss.

Why would he even get that info in the first place?

Say he was captured, what series of questions would ever lead to Ocelot ever letting Skully know Venom was fake?

Skullface has no idea so he would never think to ask.

Yeah same thing in MGS3 as well when he was working for the CIA the entire time, he knows how to play his role. And this game is supposed to take place years after?

MGSV makes no fucking sense.

Ocelot's character is the most nonsensical thing in the series, really. I'm just going to assume his real character is the man who does things like this

And he DGAF about anything except Big Boss. He's kind of psychopathic in several ways, not just in how he tortures people and is so good at acting and lying (even to himself) but how overly complicated his plans are.

Here's the video of the tape scene:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edQvG6Gdxqc

If you look, he's in a Diamond Dogs facility when he enters. After listening to Operation Intrude N313 tape, he punches the mirror. When he does so, there's a flash, and the Diamond Dogs are replaced by Outer Heaven.

My interpretation:

It looks like they're on a battlefield instead of in their main facility, which we know has a proper medical facility. This is because of the results of makeshift bullet extraction procedures seen along the sink.

At this point, Phantom big Boss is doing his thing. The tape triggers his memories to come back in full and he realizes he's a soldier and now working with Big Boss.

He puts the Operation Intrude N313 tape in to listen to it, and while doing so realizes what he must do. This is why his visage becomes more demonic, he's about to become the devil of the world. This tape also triggers the change from Diamond Dogs to Outer Heaven.

There's also the time line:

Once 1884 comes onto the screen, Diamond dogs becomes Outer Heaven in the backgound and the time line pauses, we get the cut scene where Diamond Dogs transforms into Outer Heaven, and then the timeline resumes.

To me this says we just witnessed the birth of Outer Heaven and the conception of the Operation Intrude N313 Xanatos Gambit.

There would no doubt be questions about how BB managed to remain hidden all those years.

Better to be save than sorry

It's implied that he frequently does this for his operations, not just this one, so that he's never caught in a lie.

I really like MGS V Ocelot. I think he was the best character on all of Mother Base, hands down..
I think Kaz takes that honor, personally, but MGSV Ocelot is good in showing us a side of the character we haven't seen before. He's on our side and he isn't double crossing anyone (sort of). He gets to relax and be himself.

We're putting more thought into this than Kojima did.

That single line was probably thrown in because Kojima thought "this would be cool, it would also explain how the liquid ocelot thing works later on"

He didn't stop for a second and actually think WHY ocelot would hypnotise himself into forgetting the real Big Boss

It appears that no one knew that I was ADAM.

Apart from his mother...

Also, think about what he's saying in that discussion. He's basically admitting he fucked up in his plan to meet up with Naked Snake and inform him on the mission as the CIA told him to.

All while bragging about it

TO THE CIA DIRECTOR.

Lol he's such a bastard. MGS3 Ocelot > Bakelot.

Foxdie wasn't developed to kill Anderson: It was developed to kill Decoy Octopus along with the rest of Foxhound.

BB killed Zero largely out of pity since at that point he was a veg. Zero never wanted BB dead, and still cared about him. He just was angry that BB didn't follow his lead and wanted to bring him back in line.

MGS3 Ocelot is kind of an idiot
