Here's a weird thing: Skullface's plan was to eradicate the english language (and a lot of people) to prevent Cipher's information control from overtaking the globe. Is it only when they make GW and Arsenal Gear that the Patriots gain actual information/memetic control over the internet though? I think the implication is that they do so over the entire internet, not just the English-language internet.

The damage was slow, it took a few years for him to become a vegetable.

Zero says that skully got to him and that hes 'not well in the head' or something to that effect.

He then drops and scalds himself with his tea as a sort of' Zero is on his last legs' storytelling device.

This is 3 years into the coma, so by the time BB wakes up Zero is most certainly in the state we see him in MGS4 and the AI's/Sigint are in charge.

;_; nothing makes sense any more. The stuff with Volgin and lusting for revenge and rage made sense at the time through tapes because I was all "sure. rage can wake magic men from comas. ok".

Now I've not listened to the tapes in a while so stay with me here.

1) Mantis is flying in plane over Russia
2) Big Boss (real) wakes up from a coma
3)Volgin (in Russia somewhere) wakes up because of psychic link knowing BB is alive and wanting to kill him
4)Lust for revenge triggers in Mantis bringing the plane down in flames and linking Mantis to Volgin
5) Mantis and Volgin fly (via ESP) to Cyprus (because of lusting for revenge tracking)
6) arrive when XOF is there leading to a clusterfuck and the only reason both BB and V escape

Right?

Almost. 6) XOF actually followed Mantis and Volgin to Big Bosses location. It's no coincidence that they appeared at the same time.

Actually I thought:

Big Boss woke up and "awoke" Mantis's powers

Plane goes down killing everyone but Mantis

Mantis is recaptured and brought to the same facility where the barely alive Volgin is being kept

Mantis "links up" with Volgin due to Volgin's lust for vengeance against Big Boss

The two of them escape and head towards the hospital to kill Big Boss (I assume they know where it is because of Mantis having pinged Big Boss or whatever)

The XOF hit squad just happens to show up at the same time Mantis and Volgin do, pure coincidence.

After that whole thing goes tits up, Skullface arrives and Mantis latches on to his more powerful lust for revenge or whatever, and that's when he and Volgin become Skullface lackeys.

Raiden and Venom are also both prototypical super soldiers who believe in their skills predominantly from simulated missions. Raiden completed numerous VR simulations of Solid Snake's missions, something the latter criticises him on due to not being the real things. Meanwhile Ocelot hypnotically transplanted memories of all of Big Boss's missions into Venom.

I'm pretty sure that this isn't over yet. One way "dlc" or another mgs5(for real version) it will be tied in. Also for Kojima not having anything to do with Mgsv now why is he promoting it all over the world. Also why is Kojima productions plastered all over the game. This is like a venom snake all over. It's in front over everyone and no one is acknowledging that there does not seem to be a disconnect between Kojima and Konami. To be continued...

I may have been in on too many firefights while I listened to the tapes, but I am under the impression that it said that Skullface had something to do with the russian philosophers and heard about the out of control experiment and then just added evrything up to follow the boy. Maybe he didn't tell the XOF soldiers that attacked the Hospital or maybe they were surprised that the man on fire attacked them.

If Meramon appears to level your village of Pycomon, you're shocked too, even if you know that he exists.

He's not shown to be vengeful or anything.

From what I got, the plane he was on flew to close to Volgin which is what awoke Volgin, Mantis already had powers, its mentioned he was a experiment or he was going to experimented on.

The plane crash, Volgin's awakening, the end of Venom's coma and the attack on the hospital rather seems to be just a crazy coincidence, all happening in such a short time seems as just a crazy coincidence.

Zero's information control began with researching ways to exterminate languages other than English, which is what Skull Face is so angry about in the first place with being a victim of exactly that in its more natural form. Zero wanted all individuals in a society to reflect the mindset of the society at large, which is impossible with different languages.

The Patriots simply found a better way for the same thing to happen once the digital age started. Being an AI they could sift through all the information the globe was creating and proscribe the exact recipe everyone would need to arrive at the same conclusions.

Yeah, Medic was already a Super Soldier pretty much. He was BB's #1 dude in a gigantic merc company. Give him all BB's experiences and memories and the outcome isn't far-fetched. Hell, it isn't even necessary for Venom to actually be 100% as effective as Boss. He might be 90% the actual soldier, who knows.

Yep. It'a definitly Volgin that triggered Mantis. If BB was so strong that he did that Mantis would latched him permanently.

Also: remeber the news report about fires? Volgin is rampaging into Big Bosses direction and it would be easy for XOF to follow that destruction and pin point where it's headed.

Ocelot says something to the effect of "there's not much left of him in there" So the coma/shrapnel had sort of partially/mostly erased the medic's personality and memories. And if you take any soldier and pretty much replace his mind with Big Boss' I can see it happening.

I had actually thought that the medic not remembering or knowing anything was explaining his silence at a lot of things. Like shouldn't either BB freak out at Volgin being on fire and walking towards them? Plus Ocelot mostly telling VS what he's have supposed to have done in the past, or what people think of him in tapes and dialog. I thought it was all making sense like they were still shaping VS to think he was BB.

But no. Venom and Big Boss are just 95% mute and don't give a shit.

You'll get an S rank combat deployment you can send it on soon. You'll need two Walker gears to send along with it though so make sure you Fulton a couple.

Ostensibly Ocelot says it was Venom's rage that did it, but I wonder if it wasn't simply a lifetime of Boss's experiences being awakened for the first time in Venom's conscious mind that did it. I mean Big Boss had...a pretty shitty life.

the overall plot seems like a mess and i don't want to waste too much time trying to wrap my head around it lol but gotta chime in and say that mission 43's cutscenes were some of the best in the series ever. he's made a lot of dramatic progress tbh between his use of music to having cutscenes that actually aren't cheesy. i dare say he's like the only auteur in videogame stories right now. (that's not to say he's amazing but his stuff is so unique. this is him at it's best when the game actually bothers to move the story forward without the use of tapes)

also i really liked quiet's arc too straight to the end. though her outfit was really embarrassing.
