Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

You can really see what the loss of EA and MTV can do to the budget for the songs. Hopefully their dlc isn't such a letdown. And hopefully it's consistent like it was before.

I'm not sure I'd agree here. The "budget" of bands they have on this disc is pretty much on par with previous discs. They also have Elvis, which surely wasn't cheap. And they always try to have a wide selection of musical tastes on the disc

Yeah, not overly excited by the majority of the set list, but that's mainly because I don't recognise a lot of the songs so they may turn out great like in past RB's.

I don't really agree with this. It feels pretty comparable with previous on-disc set lists.

Have to say I am honestly fine with getting stuff I'd never heard of. There were some sleepers on past disks and even something like GH2 had a fair bit of new-to-me stuff that I found interesting.

Well.....I like Grouplove so that's something.

I'm not going to pretend like this isn't the weakest setlist they've ever had imo, but like I said a while ago, I haven't bought a new Rock Band for the on disc setlist since the first one. Still hyped.

RB2 and RB3 had over 80 songs on the disc. This just barely has over 60. That's a pretty big drop.

I don't really know many of the new songs except Lynyrd and R.E.M , but Brad Paisley have always been fun to play on guitar on both RB and GH.

Rock Band 4 is essentially a reboot for this gen. I think the fairest comparison is to Rock Band 1 which was the last time they restarted. I think this list is better than RB1 and is really good for the first go without the muscle they had last gen.

All the other reveals had at least 4 songs that I immediately knew and really liked. This one though...
I was hoping that Everybody Talks would be on disc (considering one screenshot). And two country songs really hurts.

Still can't wait for the game! Hopefully there is some good DLC in the pipeline.

Nothing really for me there, but it's still a pretty great setlist. 3 weeks?

Now, let's start some kind of campaign for that RB3 import...

This. The RB3 import would make me insta-buy RB4. Right now I'm kind of iffy on it since I don't have a RB2 key or even a working 360 to import it with.

Meh. It just feels like the entire tracklist is stacked with songs I never heard about. Probably says a lot about me and my interest in music in general somewhat, but it felt much different with prior RB games where I recognized many songs.

And this. In past games, there were a lot of well known hits. Even if you weren't real big into music, you probably knew a lot of them. I'm assuming they didn't have enough money for that this time around but it seems like a lot of people are saying that they don't know these songs. But as long as it's good music and they're fun to play, it's all good. But they really need to get the DLC options going on day one. Making RB2 easier to get and having a RB3 export available would be huge for the game's library.

Setlist is pretty good overall IMO, but it's lacking in classic punk and metal. Hell, it's lacking in punk, period.

would have loved borderlines and aliens instead :(

Still more songs that I like in this list than RB3 though despite overall song count drop.

But I was expecting a bigger announcement in terms of songs though. Was hoping for So Sorry from imagine dragons as well instead of Bet My Life..........but I'll take imagine dragons whatevs!

I was hoping for Warriors though lol

Just gave EA support a shot for the Rock Band 2 export, guy just kept linking me to a page about their warranty.

Oh well. RIP RB2 setlist. A bunch of incredible songs forever out of reach.

Ughh, guess I need to get a new debit card and get that export from the UK PSN web store, I'd hate to lose the RB1 songs for good. I was hoping for an advance notice...

Oh god get on it guys you can't let Green Grass and High Tides die like this.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl. Ballroom Blitz. Cherub Rock. Dani California. Detroit Rock City. (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Epic. Flirtin' With Disaster. Foreplay/Long Time. Gimme Shelter. Go with the Flow. Highway Star. Next to You. Reptilia. Suffragette City. The Hand That Feeds. Train Kept A-Rollin'. When You Were Young. Won't Get Fooled Again. Can't Let Go. I Get By.

Get that export, people.

It's not even just the loss of Viacom/EA, I assume it's about less competition as well. Rock Band and Guitar Hero kept pushing for bigger and better set lists to compete with each other in a market where casual players basically saw them as the same game. The games this time around are still aimed at similar crowds, but the experiences they offer aren't as interchangeable as they once were to many people, so there's less of a need to compete on that kind of level.

Also, Activision has more money to throw around than just about any publisher, but they still haven't been willing to announce how big Guitar Hero Live's on-disc setlist will be, and the rumor going around is 45 songs, which would be almost 20 songs less than RB4 if true. So if people think the budget for RB4's on-disc set list is low, let's see what a company like Activision is comparatively willing to spend when we finally find out how big GHL's on-disc setlist is.

Man I want to say this is the weakest on-disc setlist for and Rock Band game but they have some pretty big songs and names and a lot of songs I've never heard of.

It's like a music festival booking huge headliners and filling in the rest of the lineup with a bunch random bands.

Sure it's great for Harmonix to be able to promote the game with Uptown Funk, Suspicious Minds, Centuries, and I Bet My Life. But in Rock Band 2 and 3 I knew 90% of the songs going in. Hopefully I'll end up liking sone of these songs that are new to me.

By the way have HMX said anything about laughing new DLC with the game? I'm sure they're working on moving all the existing DLC over to the new consoles, but adding awesome new music every week could help make up for the on-disc setlist.

What's with all the RB1 export talk? If I already have RB1 exported on my RB3 I have nothing to worry about, right?

You are good to go

They haven't announced a DLC cadence yet. There are known bonus songs depending on who you preorder with, so there's DLCs we know will be coming already.

If I had to rank the setlists...

RB2 > RB1 > RB4 > RB3. I dig the genre variety on display in 4. 1 had a sublime collection of songs and 2 was basically the penultimate combination of both: tons of variety and almost all of quality. 3's setlist was really unbalanced due to the addition of keys, even if it did have some of the biggest songs to grace the platform.

RB2 > RB3 > RB1 and RB4.

I'll update the ranking of 1 and 4 after I've spent some time with 4's songs. Rock Band 3 had a ton of songs I wanted, but it was lacking the flavor that Rock Band 2's setlist had.

Fans of Rock Band, feel free to add me on the PS3 if you're ever up for a jam on RB3 before the release of RB4 my username is Gorger. It's unfortunate that RB4 has no online, but if they ever decide to include it I hope we will organize some GAF hangout jams.

Attempt number three with EA support also unsuccessful.

I'll try again after work. Maybe if I keep being an annoying piece of shit they'll eventually acquiesce.

Disc full of amazing harmonies.

If we're setlist ranking, for me, RB1 > LRB > RB2 > RB4 | RB3. I don't really go back and play a lot of the RB3 songs tbh, though there are a handful that I play often. RB4 is an unknown but I expect it to tuck behind RB2 - it's more the artists that interest me and I'm hoping to see DLC from them with the songs I wanted that didn't make the disc.

Are delisted songs going to be available? Like, I own those Silversun Pickups songs and will who knows, maybe I want to play Panic Switch again. All I've seen them say is basically, "We'll talk about that closer to launch."

Strange. When I click on the link for the RB1 song export key (http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0ccf0099-0000-4000-8000-000045410829) it doesn't say I've purchased it, yet I can see in my 360 purchase history "Rock Band Song Export Key". When I click the link in my history which usually takes me to the store page of the item I bought, it's a dead link.

Making me worried that it's not going to work? Any ideas?

Edit: Nevermind - after clicking the buy button it said I've already purchased it. It's just weird because it still now lets me click the buy button, whereas all DLC I've previously bought says 'already purchased'.

ok so to summarize:

I have bought ~500 songs variously over the previous times

day 1, I'll have access to download whichever of those songs they have "ready" for me in rockband 4 (say, 100 of those)

as long as the song has not been specifically delisted, Theres a safe assumption that it'll get rolled into the game as a playable track in the coming weeks?

EDIT: and will rock band network stuff EVER be available at a later date or is it not going to make the cut?

no clue if it's like rb3 export where they "are looking into it" or if its just a feature that won't make it.

I think i'm gonna end up having to get a new band kit because I dont know where the hell any of the wireless adapters are for my ps3 stuff, except the keyboard one(which isn't supported)

Are the new instruments bluetooth or will they need an adapter as well? ps4 only has 2 USB ports, so 3 mics is already too much shit for the system alone, not even counting guitars and drums
