As stupid and terrible as I think everything related to this game's plot and its big twist is, I will say that the song playing in the beginning being a cover and not the original version was a pretty clever hint.
The real Big Boss doesn't have a shrapnel horn. Mantis has a shrapnel horn when the whale shows up. The whale is all Venom baby.

Ya...I rescued him in GZ and had him in my staff for TPP. Then later I got the side op to rescue him again in TPP.
I didn't bother to check if I had 2 Kojima's though.

Yeah, this. I have a sub 6 min run of it using vehicles with the 30 mm autocannon. I used the ballistic rockets at the end too, lol.

The original had come out recent to Ground Zeroes, and the cover was recent relative to The Phantom Pain. So I think there's supposed to be a "I recognize this" moment for Venom when it is really a cover made 12 years later.
I like both this cover and the Nirvana version more than the original.
Pretty interesting stuff.

I don't know if he was already in league with skull face. I think the plane crash wasn't too long before this. They could've shown a scene where Skull Face sort of recruits him.
