MGSV is the Darko Milicic of Metal Gear. In International play, Milicic was a great basketball player, however, on the biggest stage, the NBA, he was a journeyman who could never find a home for himself. MGSV is an amazing game in 2015 where open world is the way to go and stacks up well with the likes of The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight-- but it doesn't hold a candle to the rest of the series.

Peace Walker is King in my eyes. 2 will always be my favorite, but Peace Walker nailed everything that this game should have.

I thought about Kwame Brown but that will do

that feel when you know your game is missing over a third of it's content

Bad comparison, as Ghost in the Shell is for the most part a serious story. Metal Gear is a lot crazier, more ridiculous, more goofy and a lot sillier. Ghost in the Shell NEEDS a more subtle performance. Metal Gear, on the other hand, doesn't.

Metal Gear has many different sides to it, most prominently a very serious side.
Kiefer Sutherland was absolutely a good choice, every scene where he decided to utter a few words was an absolute treat. I actually got a little teary eyed watching Big Boss mourn his fallen comrades. Hands down the best performance in the entire game.

So in real life: in 1990 the Seychelles signed the UN Mercenary Convention, which bans the use of mercenaries. This could be the plot reason Mother Base is dismantled and moved to Outer Heaven in the African interior.

That's... almost certainly what Kojima was going for, I think.

It's not just that they signed it, they were the first to ratify it, on March 12, 1990. More and more countries signed on to it in the following months.

Disagree completely. He sounded like he didn't even care. I'd say Atkin Downes is easily the best actor there, followed by Randolph and Horan.

If they were gonna drop Keifer on us they should have

Had Hayter voice Snake in GZ
Have Sleeper Slumberland voice Venom
Have Mr Sandman voice Ishmael in Mission 1
Have Hayter voice Ishmael in Mission 46 and Snake when he rides off into the sunset

Everybody happy

I still can't fucking believe frank yaeger did not show up in this game. So many opportunities for awesomeness... :(

Close enough, right? *sigh*

I'm not sure if the timeline at the end of the game ever adress it but, we don't know when or why Miller parted ways with Venom (Ocelot too, but that's not as important).

Maybe he wasn't cool with the whole Outer Heaven thing, maybe men do become demons.

But offscreen.

Honestly, I would have liked to have seen them use Hayter as the "real" Big Boss while Keifer would be Venom. Yes, this would mean that they'd have had to either use Hayter for Ground Zeroes (which would make the twist obvious) or explain why Keifer voiced the "real" BB- but the latter could be explained by saying that GZ was Venom's imprinted recollection of the event. And regardless, it would be far from the biggest plot hole in the game even if unexplained.

After Intrude N313, Snake leaves Foxhound having killed Big Boss (Venom Snake), but is then trained by Miller and sent on a mission to defeat Big Boss (legit) at Zanzibar Land. After the Zanzibar Land incident, Ocelot kills Miller and the events of MGS1 occur.

Miller decides he will get his on Big Boss when he aha the chance. He says this with Ocelot in the post credits discussion.

Question

Why was the spirit of volgin using fire ? As opposed to lightning ?

In-universe reason- IT'S PARASITES I AIN'T GOTTA EXPLAIN SHIT

Actual reason- they may have thought of the concept of him being on fire all the time before deciding he was Volgin. Or maybe they just thought that his identity would have been too obvious if they had him use lightning.

As if no one already knew who he was from his very first trailer appearance lol.

Finished this last night and the ending just left me completely bewildered. Even the Mission 51 stuff (on fucking youtube of all places) still left me confused.

- How did Quiet get captured by the Russians? I assumed she let herself get captured so they would kill her but then she fucked them all up so?
- why is there two Big Bosses? Aside from the 'AHA' factor, I just don't get the purpose. I know has something to do with Zanzibar Land but I don't understand how Diamond Dogs and Outer Heaven are linked
- What happened to Huey?
- What happened to Eli and Psycho Mantis after Mission 51?
- Where the fuck was Solid Snake?!
- Gray fox anyone?

I'm left feeling incredibly bothered by this whole thing. I fucking loved the game but I felt like it led me down a path of discovery only to say 'fuck you' and end.

All I wanted to see, even back when MGS3 was announced, was how all of this leads into OG Metal Gear. And the most we get is a fucking timeline.

And now I can't even use Quiet for the post game. Fuck off.

The funny thing is that this is maybe the only thing in the game that has nothing to do with parasites. I guess, he is burning now because he died burning.

Something I remember hearing in the intro mission was Ishmael saying, "Back from the dead, huh?" To the Man on Fire/Volgin in the hospital. Did I imagine that, or did that actually happen? If so, it would kinda make sense that the real Big Boss immediately recognizes him as Volgin, whereas Venom just stares at it stupidly without saying a word. Actually, now that I think on it, if you consider all the stuff real BB/Ishmael said, he definitely sounds more like the chatty MGS3 snake than Venom, even considering how few lines he had compared to Venom in game. Kinda makes me even more annoyed that we went through the whole game playing as some nobody.

Where is 'Elegia' tape located btw?

Unfortunately 'Elegia' is not in the game.

Apparently Konami has quite the complicated arrangement for licensed music(spoke to Peeler at E3 about it after hearing 'Maneater' in the stage demo). Some can be used in marketing, some can be used in game, some can be used during on stage demos, and others can be used in some combination of use cases(ie. 'Maneater' being ok on stage and in game). So songs like 'Elegia', 'Not Your Kind of People', and 'Nuclear' fall into the category of "marketing only". Where as 'Here's to You' was ok for both marketing and in game use for GZ.

If you are playing on PC, you can add all the custom tracks you want :)

Kojima master plan.

I thought from the first trailer it was obvious it was volgin, or atleast some kind of volgin hallucination. Its just never explained how the dead body of volgin is using firepower

As much as it would have been sweet to have hayter, i can't help but feel that Kojima would have wanted to have som scenes, or remake. Metal gear 1 and 2, hence why big bosses appearance is more like his mgs4 version and the voice change. It would have been super weird to have solid snake and big boss encounter each other with exactly the same voice and appearence ( except for age gap)
