V feels like such a watered-down Metal Gear experience

it's a fun action/stealth game but i probably won't return to it for a long time
While it leaves a lot to be desired. I think this is the most repayable metal gear title. I can't be bothered to go back to 4 because the gameplay is meh and the story is terrible. This at least has compelling gameplay. Plus mgo is around the corner.

To me it'll be the only MGS I won't replay. The padding makes me not want to replay it. 7-12 hour game is the sweet spot for replaying games for me. Not 50+ hour of fillers.

This game will be held up as proof that games are more than just gameplay. Seriouly though this game has literally LITERALLY the best gameplay I have ever played, but it falls so short in terms of story pacing and characters it makes it a lesser game. this really could have been the best game ever if the story and characters were there.

Also are there any good boss battles post Mission 30? Mission 30 was pretty much the only boss battle now that i think about it. Except maaaybe Quiet?

Was anyone else disappointed that David (Solid Snake) wasn't the one sitting next to Eli(Liquid) on the plane from the trailer? :(

Was just damn Psycho Mantis doing it, cry everytime
That was obvious since David didn't even know of elis existence till shadow moses.

I was dissapointed to see this game didn't end with an mg1 faceoff. I was hoping that there would be an area in the game that wasn't spoiled by trailers. But no, Kojima showed us entirely too much of the game.

That was the main boss battle of the game.

Quiet and Metal Gear are the only bosses.

Yes. there is Mission 30 again except this time Saha is black and you die in 2 hits

There's a replay episode of Mission 30, so yeah, there is totally another good boss battle after Mission 30.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of the mainline games except for maybe 3 but that was because I didn't like Naked Snake as a character as much as the other protags. The missions in V aren't exciting enough to replay them so soon. And I don't really play multiplayer games anymore except for Rocket League. MGO could be a lot of fun though.

Well I guess we play these games for different reasons, that's fine. But snake Eater/subsistence is godlike. You're trippin breh.

Nah, Skull snipers are better than the Quiet battle.

Not sure how Quiet is a boss then.

Skulls snipers was pretty good, but dude, I did that mission on Extreme, took a Battle Suit, hid behind the exact same rock at the start, took out all 4, used a Decoy to get them to expose their laser sight so I could track them.

It stunk. Just like the Quiet boss on Extreme, cause I did the exact same shit there except I didn't even need a Decoy cause she makes so much noise when she runs. Directional Mic + Tracking = sniped in the head ezpk.

It's hard for me to describe, but the way her and her fight are presented make her seem more boss-like than the skulls. The skulls just seem like mini-bosses to me...

The music in this franchise is sooo good. Even the MSX games have some nice tunes.

except this game, ignoring licensed music :/

Not sure what the argument is though. There are cheesy ways to defeat most bosses in the game but i don't think it makes them not bosses.

On your way to Emmerich and encounter one sniper = boss.

On your way to Code Talker and encounter 4 snipers = not boss.

Kay (._. )

This is not the greatest MGS game. Terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible. And why do we have two Big Bosses? I can't even handle it. I haven't even bothered beating the game but figure I see what the ending was all about. No shame.

Now the real question is what's the greatest MGS game, it's really difficult choosing between 1, 2 or 3, all could be considered GOAT.

They're boss fights, but not good ones. And IMO I don't think that's cheese at all..I sniped them all. Cheese is dropping a tank on them or driving a tank through the mission to bypass them lol.

The Skulls are bullet sponge boss fights. Mission 42 fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I would agree but ideally the Skulls wouldn't replace boss fights entirely.

It doesn't help that you can run by all of them except Metallic Archaea as well :(

I don't think any boss in the game is that good, but I like fighting the skull snipers more than Quiet.

And a tank isn't even needed, you can literally run along the river right by them. Sad.
