Don't joke, Silent Hills and MGSV combined would've been cool. Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about any kind of plausible story to connect the two since both are filled with bullshit anyways.

I am still just so confused though.

Is Zero not that bad then? Helping to save BB.

Does BB send SS to kill VBB? Why? What happens to VBB to cause him to go rogue?

Is MG2 the BB?

Does Miller support SS or Liquid? I always assumed Miller was team SS, but Ocelot wasn't really on Liquid's side, right?

Ocelot hypnotized himself to forget about V and BB? This doesn't make sense in the narrative, not even in MGS V itself.

EDIT:

MGS4 Ocelot made more sense.

The worst thing that happened to me in V was struggling a bit with Mission 40 (Extreme Quiet fight) and finally beating her only to hop back on the chooper and hear Ocelot say "Boss, Quiet has run off..."

:(

I never got to use my hard earned Sniper Wolf costume.

Yeah, I really don't understand why this was even mentioned. Nor do I understand why they talk about the real Big Boss taking Venom's/Medic/Ahab's identity. He obviously never changed his face.

That stuff was odd.

Well the Patriots wanted order and control. Whether that's bad is up to the player. However, when he went into a coma the AIs took over. They mutated and started to propagate the war economy seen in MGS4 as a form of control.

One thing that can be said for certain is that Zero and Big Boss considered themselves friends even after their initial schism in 1972.

The game does not explain if Big Boss is in collusion or against Venom Snake in MG1.
Is MG2 the BB?

Yes.

Miller supports and even raises Solid. Yeah it can be presumed Ocelot was watching over Liquid from a distance since they both say they'll "pick one to support" when "the age of the Sons arrive". Solidus is not mentioned because Kojima hates Solidus I guess.

He hypnotized himself temporarily to make it seem like Venom was the real Big Boss for him. It's unnecessary but it was likely written to go "see? its not so jarring in MGS4 when Ocelot pulls the same stunt!".

That Quiet mission was like this song in playable form: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjAta8xLg3M

Some weapons have a round conversion, like one of the later tranq gun upgrades can convert to live rounds and a double barrel can convert to non lethal slugs. How do I switch?

Also whenever I use a tank I have fultoned it has no ammo, why?

I would assume you have to switch in the "Commence Mission" setup menu. Select the one you want there. You can't just switch ammo types.

Are you sure you're picking the right tank weapon with the DPAD?

This has happened to me with different armored vehicles.

Kinda. Dude is still a super dick though.

Big Boss was still in charge of Outer Heaven. Venom was just the person Snake killed according to the post credits timeline.

Still no idea why Solid Snake was sent in by BB or why BB rejoined foxhound. Was really hoping that would have happened here but after Peace Walker and Portable Ops I went in knowing what to expect regarding that stuff. (IE. Not a whole lot)

Why does he have to hypnotize himself? It's not like Miller hypnotized himself to go along with it.

I'm 90% certain Kojima just threw the self hypnosis bit in there to try and lend some credence to Ocelot's later use of self hypnosis. The funny thing is that it's just dumb twice now instead of once.

I took that detail to more mean that Ocelot hypnotized himself to think VS was the real BB, and BB was the dupe. I dunno. Still doesn't entirely make sense there.

Considering all the 1984 references he could have used doublethink to simultaneously believe Venom and Big Boss were the real Big Boss.

I hit the radio button a dozen times during the fight and nobody ever mentioned a weak point. I'll give Kojima the benefit of the doubt and chalk this one up to Huey being a piece of shit.

holy shit this was so fucking infuriating. sahy what you like about codecs pausing the action but at least you can button through the dialogue. HUEY SHUT I UP I FUCKING KNOW ABOUT ITS FLAMETHROWER CROTCH SHUT UP SHUT UP

If anyone is watching the Super Best Friend's Let's Play, I have to say their interpretation of what the Quiet assassination attempt in Cypress must have looked like is hilarious.

Grunt 1: So [Quiet's Real Name], our awesome assassin operative, has been sent with a chopper and two armoured cars full of mad soldiers to assassinate a single guy who's been in a coma for 9 years?
Grunt 2:Well yea-

*glass shatters*

*Quiet comes flying out a window on fire screaming*

Grunt 1: Awww, shit.

So the game that finally is supposed to explain the creation of Outer Heaven and Big Bosses turn towards villian, does it off screen? And barely at that?

You win Kojima. I have nothing left.

It doesn't even do it :')

instead, it works against it, filling in the giant time gap for us to say he turned evil with instead non evil actions

I think it's clear that V, through the events of the game, is a tortured soul. From Mission 43, Quiet, and to having the pressure of no longer being himself could easily explain his turn to being what he became in MG1, thereby having Big Boss send SS to kill V in MG1.

Did they ever explain what that weird coded tape was that V listens to?

It's just the mission briefing for Metal Gear 1, a warning to Venom that Solid Snake is coming.
