If you pan the camera to point at the window to Venom's right (not in first person view) and zoom in on the window, you'll see the face of the avatar you created in the reflection (depending on lighting conditions).

I thought Ishmael was a hallucination as well, especially since he got shot to shit in the ambulance and KO'd while driving. Yet afterwords Big Boss looks perfectly fine.

And I swear he gets shot up in that hallway massacre scene.

Huh... I've never seen that. Well... I plan on platnuming this game, maybe I'll see it once.

Never before have I agreed with almost all the people praising AND complaining about a game before. I mean just story-wise, gameplay wise almost everyone seems to agree that MGSV is amazing.

I'm as disappointed as anyone else that we didn't get to play as Big Boss, that the story isn't nearly as cohesive or present as it should be, that Venom barely talks, most of the story is dumped in tapes, and that Eli's story is unfinished, among other things.

But I also really like the twist in concept, Skull Face is an interesting villain, Huey and Quiet had complete and well done character arcs (especially Huey), Miller was really great in this one, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Kid Mantis had a tragic and unique story, the parasite outbreak was fantastic...

It's more on the disappointing side because of unfulfilled promises and its clearly unfinished nature, but I also really like what we did get. I dunno.

Whether it was foreseeable and foreshadowed or not (I know it was), doesn't make it good and/or tolerable.

something something opinions.

I liked the twist. Not playing as BB is not the end of the world.

Ishmael doesn't say "I'm you". He says "you're talking to yourself."

Not using a knife during gameplay has nothing to do with anything. Venom used a knife plenty of times in cutscenes. You were the real triple OG Big Boss in Ground Zeroes and you couldn't use a knife during gameplay, so...

Well i forget the exact phrase, thank you.

Well i have heard a few people say about the knife. I thought it was a stretch, wasn't sure if I had seen it in a cut scene

And I swear he gets shot up in that hallway massacre scene.

Different guy. That's another decoy called buttcrack Snake. Ishmael is in the doorway as the camera swings around but it's hard to notice unless you pause it in the trailer.

Did they ever explain the 'punished'/'venom' name on tape? I feel like I missed it.

And I swear he gets shot up in that hallway massacre scene.

That too. Also, when entering the room where he goes to the right, prone, the camera pans over to where he should be. Then he fucking appears behind Venom to push him down out of XOF's sight. Big Boss can teleport & get shot with no consequence apparently. Oh, & his right eye works fine & has no beard when in the hospital.

And I swear he gets shot up in that hallway massacre scene.

He does, he stands in front and gets totally shredded by the gunfire. And after the massacre he suddenly pops up from the left and pulls the player inside the other room.

That was the biggest "hint" for me that he wasn't real and just a hallucination. In fact, a lot of stuff in the prologue makes zero sense if he's NOT a hallucination. How does he not have massive burn wounds from that explosion in the elevator? His entire body is on fire for at least 15 seconds, yet he walks away unscathed. I suppose the point was to make the player think that Ishmael was a hallucination.

It's a different person, if you slow the scene down you can see it's not him.

But why?

How are we meant to get it from his buttcrack? Does he have a mole on it or something that BB doesn't have?
That was special FOXHOUND agent Red Herring

This is one pretty bad-ass suit with super fast sprint speed.

FOBs are damn difficult. Should I pick easier targets first?

I have only done direct and indirect retaliations so far.

Medical platform is easiest to invade because nobody develops it and the goal is pretty close to one of the starting points. You won't get any resources though and the reward is usually pretty low for underdeveloped bases.

I also thought Ishmael was just a hallucenation during the first mission, even though he was doing stuff that affected the world. I just assumed it was an unreliable narrator, and venom was doing those things himself.
Honestly I expected everything in the intro to be a hallucination with the man on fire and the mysterious Ishmael and the whale and the Pegasus. All of that stuff was REAL THO

The only hallucination in this game is Paz??

Also it's super disappointing that the unlockable extras are mostly things in Ground Zeroes.

I was looking forward to my Sneaking Suit 1.0 from MGS3, and I believe it's somewhere in the game files, but it doesn't seem unlockable.

"Should we make the Man on Fire a buddy if you Fulton him?"

"No"

"Uh, can we put him in MGO then, Mr. Kojima?"

"Get the fuck out of my office"

Probably been asked a million times, but I just started reading this thread and I'm 2 pages in (100 posts per page)

Q: I beat "The Truth" and the mission where Quiet leaves. Was that the end? Been doing side ops and Mother Base stuff, but there hasn't been any more progress. Sounds like the closest thing to an ending is the cut stuff? 55% overall completeness, 49/157 side ops, 6 more of the 50 main missions (5 extremes and 1 total stealth) I need to get back to normal life, and not play these ridiculously hard repeat missions. I heard there was a Ture ending for beating all the missions, but enough is enough.
EDIT: I've also listened to all the tapes so far... I guess this is the bulk of the story.

I was disappointed at the end of the first half of the game, I kept saying there's no way this could be the ending. But then I remembered every mission was like the end of a TV show. I actually feel worse about the game/story after the 2nd half. While I guess I'm somewhat concluded about the events of this game, the pacing was pretty bad, and nothing of what I thought would be answered about the MGS story has been in this game.

I don't know if it's necessarily his ass. But his legs, gown and bandages are too clean. BB's are somewhat blackened from when they get burned.

It also never explicitly shows him getting shot in the ambulance, he just goes limp after the glass gets shot out.
Then the crash happens, Venom wakes up and no Ishmael.

In one of the first tapes Ocelot mentions Venom potentially having hallucinations.

The first one is a red herring for the player, the second could be meant as red herring for Venom himself. Rather fitting considering who Venom is supposed to be.

Mission 46 is the true final mission. There is no story-related content after that.

There is a mission 51 that got cut from the game, the cutscene featured on the collector's edition blu-ray and is available on youtube. I highly recommend watching it as it deals with what happened with Eli and Sahelanthropus.

Ok, thanks, was afraid I missed something between where I am and mission 51. Will watch. What a shame...
