why didn't they give quiet a pen and paper

"It's not over yet Snake!"

That's always irked me about the prequels. Why does everyone and their mother in PW and V call Big Boss Snake when that was just a code name used once in a mission over 20 years ago? Clearly they must not respect Big Boss enough to call him by his title.

If I remember right, he doesn't like the Big Boss name, he prefers Snake, he looks at it more as a rank than name for himself. So i think that's why all the people who know him call him Snake and the grunts and MB call him Big Boss or Boss.

Why don't the parasites react to Navajo lol. Why could Quiet conveniently talk in Navajo? Was she doing vocal cord parasite studies on the side while working as an assasin?
Because Navajo is so complex that they can't establish a pattern to learn from. I have no idea what the complexities of the Navajo language are like this might be bullshit. Who knows why Quiet can speak Navajo?

Eli's grudge against BB didn't make sense in this game considering how caring BB is.

What the fuck else do you want from him?

I think it made sense on a basic level. He's a kid who is too smart for his own good, and lacks a lot of context, and he felt used and betrayed when he found out he was a clone. He wanted to find his father and either surpass him, get killed by him, or at the very least acknowledged. He never got any of that, and he thought he was just not wanted. It does seem like something a child would do.

The problem is that they had to layer all that with more bullshit about psychic powers feeding off feelings of rage and revenge, and that being able to automate giant robots. So when you consider the "rage" Volgin would feel against Big Boss, it doesn't seem to make sense that Eli is somehow -angrier- than him. But I guess they kinda handwave that away with the excuse that -because- he is a child, the connection is just stronger between him and Mantis-kun, since they're both children. Whatever. I guess they did foreshadow some of that, since when you try to rescue Shayboni in mission 20, he manages to stop the Man of Fire before dying.

His whole conflict is that he knows he's a clone of Big Boss. It makes plenty of sense.

So? Venom is trying to give the kid good life advice like learning to use your head but Eli is like 'fuck that shit, I want to kill'. Venom is probably more caring than most dads.

"Hey Snake, how come you don't want to be named after the mentor/lover you were forced to kill?"

What would she write?

"Skullface gave me parasites, have the English strain, unable to speak."

Then maybe they could've taught her a different language or something, I dunno. I mean obviously not in the beginning of the game, but more like near the end where people like Big Boss or even Ocelot started to trust her.

If she told everyone "yea im actually supposed to kill you with this vocal virus thing lol but i wont" Benedict "Mad Man" Miller would probably have wanted her dead again (is what I speculated). Everyone says "lol give her a pen" but there isn't really anything for her to write that would have made a difference in the story that I can think of.

Okay real talk: I'm no expert in biology, and I'm wondering, how likely is it for parasites to actually work this way? That they only infect the vocal chords of people who speak a specific language with specific sounds. I know they give an in-universe explanation, but of all of MGSV's plot points, this sounds like the dumbest to me.

But like I said, I'm no expert in biology.

They said children had a stronger reaction/connection in one of the tapes.

Why bother making a strain to kill off Navajo? It was already in the process of being eradicated, Code Talker discusses this.

I get what they're going for but Venom does acknowledge the brat. It's not like you ignore Eli after he gets back (well you can to some extent) as you get into that 2nd fight and the additional cutscene with the soldier and name business. As previously mentioned, the OG Big Boss had an attitude that could lead to resentment on Eli's part.

But it's not just the language stuff. It's also making the End immortal and gives the Pain control over hornets.

Pretty fucking unlikely.

The sources that gave Kojima the idea for parasites were the same ones that told him "Yeah, Genes totally work that way!" In MGS1.

No clue, I don't think it's a bad idea in sci fi fiction, but the core idea was bogged down with other shit horribly.

Miller would have ended her there in a heartbeat.

You don't tell people who think your the enemy, that your a ticking time bomb. Especially if you want to stay and help.

so Kaz tellin BB that Eli isnt his clone and the DNA tests failed is just him in cahoots with Zero?

what a dick. why even bring it up

Its the nanomachines granddaddy "science!" explanation, nothing more, pretty funny when psycho powers seem to be ok in the same world.

He doesn't acknowledge him as his son though. Because.... he isn't. Lololol.

The thing that sticks out in my mind during the whole game is mission 46, approaching the out of bounds area during the scene where you're supposed to follow quiet's footprints for the cassette, Miller will yell "Are you going to abandon Quiet!?" You wanted to abandon her the whole game...

There's also an issue with Code Talker recovering the body of The End and The Pain.

In MGS3, it is stated that the Cobra Unit carry a bomb inside their bodies that basically vaporizes them. This was in order to prevent the enemy from keeping their bodies.

And you see this in-game. When they detonate, they vaporize. Nothing is left of them. That was the reason behind the bomb.

And now you tell me that The End just blew up into somewhat decent-sized pieces?

Dude, I don't know about you, but wanting to throw the world into constant, neverending conflict with wars, bloodshed and orphans being thrown into the battlefield doesn't sound like the best intention to me.

Then he at least has half good intentions by freeing the world from Zero/Patriots.
