Yes it's the Strangelove one, where she was basically waxing lyrical about how Otacon was intended to be a love child between her and the Boss's AI pod. Because with her genes and the Boss's meme, the father would be "irrelevant". Lol.

5 minutes into that tape I was like "...what the hell is she even talking about?", such a bizarre tape. But fitting, Strangelove was quite crazy about The Boss. And I mean crazy as in "messed up in the head".

She was also dying, probably from oxygen deprivation, so of course she would go coo-coo.

Man, I recently played through that game and I was amazed at how badly Raiden was voiced. Was he that bad in MGS2/4 and I just didn't notice?

[edit]

I listened to mostly all the tapes and found them interesting. I ended up giving up on some of the parasite tapes once Codetalker spent about 5 minutes explaining how they were first in dinosaurs then when they died out they infected birds.

Literally just played MGS2 an hour ago and think he's okay. Not purposely trying to sound like Punished Demon Raiden like MGR though so.

Was trying to give you / others the benefit the doubt but if the general opinion here is that every theory posted is somehow better, that's too bad.

Can't I just open a window tho?

Yeah, damn Kojima not letting us sell dead soldier diamonds as GMP. What a hack!

Also what's with the literal /v/ copy and paste quoting here. Oh, Enter the Dragon Punch post I see ( ≖‿≖)

You know, ponpo, you seem to love bringing up the fact I posted something from /v/, no matter what or when it happened, along with those made up and passive aggressive comments from the Black Hound - if you have an issue with me, feel free to PM me instead of the equivalent of GAF subtweets.

Also, the source ended up being Giant Bomb. ;)

Best Ocelot moment his is his trolling of Fortune and Vamp at the end in MGS2. You two think your special hahaha you are both nothing.

Instead we got "a gunship" ocelot zzzzzzzz

I'm disappointed we didn't get to see Zimmerman, honestly. He really was Ocelot to me, outside of Snake Eater.

Also, his concept art design feels a lot more true to "Revolver Ocelot" than his actual model.

Yeah, most of these fan theories and the fan-fiction is better than what we got. That's more telling of the actual quality of the game than the quality of the theories, though.
However, half of the "theories" posted aren't theories; they're just fan-fiction additions to the gaps left by Kojima's ending. They don't change anything, just supplement.

In this case, I think Kojima's story gives us many great jumping off points to fill in the rest of the story with our interpretations and fan-fiction.

Just finished it. I think I'd feel more satisfied with the story if it ended on 45. Can't help but feel the story was a let down with a few good bits here and there.

I had fun with the Skulls fight only because I realized you could stab them. It makes it easier to stay close (but not too close) and hit them with the incredibly inaccurate MR launcher.

The Sniper Skulls were a cakewalk with the RENOV and Quiet's Sinful Butterfly. The first time I fought them, she would have to be airlifted after taking out one Skull, since both of us had tranqs.

Had fun fighting the skull girls on my own after Quiet got lifelited

Skull guys fight was intense fighting them on foot in their face. Countering was my way of saying I'm no longer afraid of you assholes

This fucking game lol.

Metal Gear Rising has the same issues that V has, awesome gameplay but such a dumb story.

Also, the environment were awfully boring/ugly. You can really tell that Shinkawa Kyouji is leaps and bounds above whoever they have working in Platinum games.

Rising's story is so on the down low and simple that it's hard to even care about it. Armstrong is amazing though.

Rising wasn't insulting the main series and was only a pretext for the crazy action. It was perfectly aware of what it was and never pretended to be anything more. The action scenes were insane.

That being said, the CODECS of MGR were sometimes amazing. You learn a lot of information.

I enjoyed quite a bit hearing about Raiden's different phases after MGS4, not being able to find jobs because of his bad artificial skin etc...
(It explains also why he insisted on getting a human appearance at the end)

Good stuff.

MGS V on the other hand shits over everything.

I replay MGR. I won't touch MGV again. :/

V probably lends itself to rare replays since the game mechanics are solid, but the fultoning and Mother Base building is probably a turnoff from replaying annually or whatever.

Rising had a dumb story working with a good/fair amount of enjoyable characters. I personally can't say the same about V.

Armstrong, Monsoon, Sam... Yeah, the story was crazy and over the top. But it served as a vehicle to move the plot forward and justify how insane the action was compared to previous Metal Gear games. Even the Twin Snakes' Matrix-esque cutscenes!

I'm optimistic that MGO will be fun, though. If MGSV got anything right, it's the third person shooter gameplay.

It's the exact reason myself and most of my friends who enjoy the series have no ambition, whatsoever, to ever replay Peace Walker. Okay gameplay, awful bosses, and the base management just makes it a one and done scenario. At least V has MGO.

There's also not much there on replay, can't think of a scene in V I would want to see years from now again, unlike in 1-4.

Rising is a dumb and fun version of MGS2's meme theme.

MGSV is a bad version of the character twist.

I guess ultimately the question is, do you replay games or portions of games to see story scenes, or do you replay games because there's something fun there which you might just have an itch to play again and isn't offered elsewhere? Because personally there are a bunch of missions in MGSV which I definitely see myself booting up and replaying from time to time. I love Metal Gear because I love pretending to be a superhero spy sneaking around with a bunch of wacky tools, and I love the scenarios which the games come up with.

Mission 21 is probably my favorite mission in the entire game, and it doesn't even have much to do with the plot.

Yeah, I probably won't replay MGSV either like how I replay other MGS iterations.

There's really no need to replay from the start with it's mission structure, you can just replay all the story missions in succession if you want to "relive the story campaign". Starting over from scratch for a replay and having to manage all that motherbase stuff again, no thanks.

I literally just started a Peace Walker replay an hour ago ;_; I can imagine it getting tiresome though - just in a Metal Gear mood and want to put some time into something rather than a 4 hour playthrough or 2 or 3 or whatever.

This for me, but a lot of times there are "those moments" in games that you remember when you contemplate replaying a game that turn you off from actually replaying it, and it's too early to determine, but MGSV might have too many of those. Mother Base development, fultoning, guard posts, weapons development, blah blah.

MGS V is also too long for me to consider replaying, probably. I think it probably took me more time to beat V then 1-4. Of course I did all the side ops as well, though.

I saved that Quiet mission for last after I S-ranked everything. With stealth camo and infinite ammo, I don't really need Quiet anymore since I don't have to worry about rank.

With all things said and done, I really do wish MGSV was linear like 1-4.

Sure, the open world is a lot of fun and gives you lots of opportunities for varied approaches and scenarios, but I do feel the story and the game quality overall suffered because they wanted to make this big open world game to challenge other AAA open world titles on the market.

Remember when everyone complained about how OP Quiet is? and now everyone wants her back.

I think if we're talking about starting from scratch, MGSV is a very tough game to replay. It's like a huge RPG where there's just too much timesink to get to the parts you actually want to replay sometimes. But if we're talking about replaying missions as long as the save is still there, MGSV is probably one of the more replayable ones. Maybe not quite MGS1 or MGS3, but I've tried to replay MGS2 and MGS4 several times before, and it's pretty hard for me to get into it. MGS2's camera is too much of a stopgap between MGS1's clear top down view and MGS3 Subsistence's free camera. Feels rigid and annoying to me. Can't go back. MGS4's loading times, endless cutscene skipping, and lack of engaging gameplay after Act 2 really makes it a huge bore too. Peace Walker is pretty replayable initially, but then once I realize there's no one else playing and I can't easily get a friend to join in and do silly shit with me or raid a boss fight, it loses my interest too.

MGS1 is probably perfection when it comes to replayability. It's not as deep a game as MGS3, but it's the perfect length and has nice simple arcade controls and no extra simulation stuff. Also, Rex > Ray.
