Not going to lie I'm kinda relieved this was delayed. also I'm Canadian so now I can get the E3 deal for this lol.
The evidence for a delay was there. People willingly plugged their ears and chanted Hardin. So of course if you ignore the evidence people are going to jab you.
You can't just take it in isolation. Ignoring everything else and just relying on a company's PR is naive at best.
Always take a company's PR with a grain of salt. Regardless of industry. It's fine to get excited, but just remember things can change no matter what is said.

Give me hope for closer release dates.
Not true for some of us. We have been saying that it would be delayed for months (cough, cough us on #TeamRuin), so there ain't any hindsight involved here from some of us.It's so easy to tout how others are idiots or delusional fanboys in hindsight. Sigh.
Precisely. I'm not here to hand out insults. But I certainly am going to say I was right, and people should have opened their eyes earlier. Especially when people who avatar bet on the side of #TeamRuin were so mocked. The evidence for a delay was there. People willingly plugged their ears and chanted Hardin. So of course if you ignore the evidence people are going to jab you.
Vindication was had that day.
Moral of the story is to wait for companies to have proof they can make a release before believing them. Which this game did not have in the slightest.
I was in doubt and seeing the reaction in here I was not alone. But when you have the company PR saying no people don't worry it's coming this year you'd think they'll be honest about the situation.
Or perhaps Catherine considering they are the same engine:

Catherine is Gamebryo. Persona 5 is an engine developed in-house at Atlus. They're not the same engine.
Despite the fantastic trailer, this delay hurts, a lot.

They look incredibly similar, who can say that the in house engine was not developed off of Catherine's?
Bethesda feels fit to tell me their game engine is a brand new in-house engine every time they make a new game, but most of us can clearly see it's just gamebryo.
I'll reserve my doubts, but thanks for the enlightening info.
I think this is the largest amount of crows I've ever eaten for a video game.
And it's not even out yet.

You better hope they're scaling up their localization team because the difference in localization challenges between the two games seems to be staggering.
And then we better hope the engine is incredibly flexible for localization or else all those seemingly pre-baked images of Japanese characters on the screen will be a challenge to localize.
I think Persona Q would be a more recent / apt comparison, and that game even has less dialogue than a normal persona game.

Like I said, I don't feel like I'm here to insult anyone. In fact I just woke up like fifteen minutes ago, so I've missed most of the hubbub. But personally, I do think there's some truth to the idea that those on the other team were perhaps too much of fanboys or not thinking about the industry.Well of course, you made a bet and won, congratulations. I'm eating the crow as promised.
But it's another thing to straight up insult and blame the losing team, which happened to be the majority in that bet.
The Fallout 4 reveal was one of my favorite for that very reason. Such a great way to reveal the game. Let alone give a release date!Fuck's sake. Now I just find myself wishing pub's would STFU about release dates until dev's are toward end of development. Quit getting our hopes up only to later casually crush them.
For me, this is the worst delay of them all. I can't remember when I felt this pissed off about a game getting delayed. Even HG going schtum over NMS release wasn't this annoying.
*swears*
"It's coming out this year trust us"
*summer 2016*
What?
Like, that's a pretty hefty delay for something that was so adamantly defended as coming this year.
What is this?
So what's the point of the Persona 5 event this weekend?
Hate to burst anyone's bubble but it was inevitable. Atlus PR can say 2015 all they want, it was just too late.

It always seemed obvious to me that a delay was imminent. ¯|_(ツ_|¯

Exactly. It was because of Atlus. Trust they don't deserve after this mind you. Which is why making a "fanboy" comment isn't completely out of line. With any other developer, the majority of people would have been predicting the delay for months. But with this game, we had people trying to analyze and defend Persona's "unique" marketing strategies, when really it was pretty obvious there wasn't anything unique going on besides an impending delay.Frankly I don't know if any other developer would get the kind of blind faith that Atlus got on this 2015 thing. People weren't really looking at this rationally.
Any I agree with Dragonslayer's comment. I think some of that 82% came from faith in Atlus and fandom of them as developers/publishers. That was really the only "solid" evidence on the other side.It was still good enough reasoning for 2015 that 82% bet on it. If the evidence for delay was that solid as people are saying now, it wouldn't probably be the case.
