Gief/Sim vs Alex/Urien definitely is an interesting match-up, though. it would be less intense if any 4 of them were less apt. all four have a place in the game for sure.

Besides Twelve and Remy, i even like Necro hes so much better than Sim or Blanka imo just in terms of being an interesting character and not just indian yoga man and green electric man. If i had to live with only SF2 guys id live with Dictator, boxer, geif, and Sagat.

b) The next most OBVIOUS guess is Sagat/Balrog to complete the shadoloo bosses. And because Capcom said Story will be a focus.

c) Blanka and Honda - IMHO these two dont have as much to offer as the others gameplay wise. They arent completely unique like Sim , nor do they have the popularity of Gief/Sagat.

d) we get some weird combination like Sagat/Sim or Blanka/Gief idk.

You dont need a roster leak to come up with this shit.

I agree with this. I want Gief and Dhalsim for the gameplay diversity they'd bring, even though I would like to play as alex and urien more.

I want guile, and I want him to have mastered the sonic boom.

My only other reason for thinking this is a better chance is because Capcom's introducing an in-game currency system based on Boxer's catchphrase. This is a game that's going to have "Fight Money" be a huge part of how the game is played, including likely being able to continue following along with the story as the story is updated and added onto via DLC with the characters.

It'd be weird to have "Fight Money" in the game at launch and not the one character who is completely obsessed with it.

Guile just hasn't been mentioned anywhere by anyone, though. I think he's a pretty strong DLC candidate, too, especially if there's any kind of story DLC to be packed in with characters or seasons or what have you.

I like Gief, but I get that he isn't too exciting for people. It'd be cool if his V-skill was like his MvC2 dash grab and also armored through fireballs.

Playing devil's advocate but a lot of characters could be considered 'classic' now. I think its safe to say most would have said sakura was classic even before sf4. And she was only in alpha.

Alex would be 'classic' as he was in a game outside his main series (tvc however short lived).

I want a ton of characters back. Downloaded 3s again just to play as them some more.

None of the "final 4" are my favorite (Gief is the closest because Gief is fun to say plus protect the Russian Skies is one of the favorite random things to say ever) but really right now it seems like people are just rooting for their favorite outcome and thus taking everything as fact (or what I suspect is a lot of reverse jynxing).

Well besides that ill only play the others just to know what they do and how to get around it. But Mika and Nash are the only real characters i like out of the cast so far. Everyone else is just ok to me. In SF i can never settle and just play one character. I need to play at least 2, i hated 4 cause everyone that wasnt juri was super lame and i didnt care for them.

But it's not just for that. If it's a game about the rise of the illuminati, having the four kings (as Valle put it) in the game from jump makes more sense.

I guess it depends on how the game was developed, and in what order key components were arrived at.

Did they actually come up with a story before they started fleshing out the cast? Did they pick characters and wrap a story around that? When did they decide on their DLC/Platform plan in relation to that? Did they decide on the name for the in-game currency based on the story/characters? Or was it just an in-joke?

That's stuff we're not going to know until interviews/behind the scenes shit.

I dunno, for me, the fact this is a story-based fighting game apparently, (still remains to be seen, really) and that the focus of the story seems to be the downfall of Bison, makes me think that for the overall story (which apparently completes the transition from II/IV to III) you need the four kings present. That's more important than the fight money thing - but the fight money thing is still something worth noting.

good points. he could always show up in story mode, or as a flavor character in the fight money tutorial/breakdown or whatever. Capcom have mentioned taking note of other games, and they've all had 'guest' appearances in their stories.

Yes, we've been over that. It's something I'm sure the actual story would address were he involved. If that's the case. If not, no big thing. But it's not unreasonable for that conclusion to be on the table. Like you pointed out earlier, Valle guessed at the same thing, for basically the same reasons.

I would say Guile's popularity is much higher than Blanka's. C'mon now, everyone knows Guile's comeback theme, and he was the main character in that crappy cartoon.

Boxer is best proper charge character imo. He deserves to be in this game just because of that.

I mean if you think about Guile is the one who always go after shadoloo the main villain organization. Ryu is just a wanderer now looking for strong opponent. I also think with the trend of "Guiles theme go with everything" and some of them have millions of views. He is way more popular than blanka. Even a super casual gamer knows what a sonic boom is.

Was he ever Shadaloo? I always figured he got slotted in right before Bison in SF2 because he was the big boss of SF1. So you work through the roster, and then you fight Bison's lieutenants, and then you fight Sagat because he's stronger than Balrog and Vega, and then you finally get to the new big boss.

Shadaloo guys are actually evil, whereas Sagat isn't, really (as evidenced by him going to help Ryu up after he won their initial fight--before Ryu busted his chest up with Satsui no Hadou and all that). He, like Gill, just happens to be really strong, so he gets to be a boss.

Sak was also in Marvel Vs Street fighter, EX series, Capcom vs Snk, MVC2, Puzzle Fighter, Rival Schools, Snk Vs Capcom, Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix and Capcom Fighting Evolution.

She's clearly a classic character and has the best theme music in the Alpha and Ex series.

Nash play very different from traditional guile gameplay. Believe it or not Nash is a very offensive character. I would argue he is one of the more rushdown heavy character in the game right now. They can put guile on the other side of the spectrum by keeping it traditional.Nash is also very different than generic military man now. He is half human and half something else.
