Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

That is probably the case for every country in South America. It really is easy for packages to get lost around here, be by plain stealing or by incompetence of your local mail service.

Kinda shitty that they demand you to pay extra only now though.

To be fair, they are not demanding anything extra, just saying that if it goes missing, they're not taking responsibility.

My survey finally came!

Steam digital w/ beta access, Wii U physical!

Now I will be able to see if there is a performance difference for Wii U vs. PC

Completed my survey. The 18 character limit for the credits is pretty tight; my name is exactly that long (with the space) so I imagine a fair few people will have trouble if they want their real name in there...

Got my survey, this is the first time I've ever purchased anything "physical" for Steam. I thought about going with the PS4 version, but nah. I also thought about upgrading for the digital + physical to have both. Still might.

Presumably the same way I did before Fangamer:
They e-mailed me and I replied.
But that's exactly what is happening here. People are receiving emails with a personalized survey link that is used to fill out the details of your pledge. The "survey" collects only the information needed to fulfill the pledge. Unless you really expected them to have each of the 65,000 backers write plaintext email replies and go through all the replies manually without issues...

I wish we had more characters to work with for the name thing.

I wanted to put my Mom's full name which doesn't fit. My original idea was to put KML Oct. 1949~ Jul. 2015 RIP, which might be asking for too much, but not even her full name fits because of the 18 character limit.

I bought Bloodstained in the hopes to play it with my Mom. She had a perfect save in SOTN at 200.6% and every single item in the game and all of enemies defeated and entered in the bestiary. It was one of her favorite games.

But yeah she passed in July of this year so, now this game is just going to be one big reminder of plans to play it together, so being able to having her name in the credits instead of my own is the least I can do.

I guess I'll just suffice and shorten her name somehow even though it's not what I want to do.

I wonder if we'll get an opportunity to change addresses. I'm probably going to be moving to a different city by the end of next year.

I upped my pledge to the $300 tier, plus and an extra $28 for the Wii U digital version. I'm crazy, I know.

I'm sticking with my pledge of $185, but man, I get shaken with doubt sometimes.

What if this is anything lest than Iga's best game?

That's a high standard, but for $185, I'll be disappointed if it's anything less. But I guess that's my fault.

As soon as you finish the survey you get sent to a page where you can change your address, among other things. You also get an email with a link to that page.

Man, that sucks. But why don't you PM one of the fangamer guys on here and see if they'd help you out?

Absolutely email them and explain. They might even give you a special line in the credits.

I did sent a message through Kickstarter months ago and they said it was cool if I used my Mom's name instead of mine, but I didn't consider the character limit.

I'll send a PM to one of the guys here and see what happens, but I don't want to get special treatment because of this one thing. It doesn't hurt to ask though.

Ah, I just finished filling out my Fangamer survey. Physical PS4 backer with the "Alchemist Treasure" tier. I ultimately opted for "No Clan" as I wasn't fully sure what what the credit category entailed other than being an entertaining means to have your name listed. It was a little annoying with the credit character limit since I couldn't properly finish my suffix, but I dealt with the matter none-the-less.

Unless you really expected them to have each of the 65,000 backers write plaintext email replies and go through all the replies manually without issues...

Like Broken Age? And Grindea? And Cryamore? And the list goes on?
Yeah, I feel like there is enough success stories to expect them to handle their shit.

So we're clear, I have no issue with Fangamer or their affiliation with Kickstarter. Just replying to the "that's unpossible!" nonsense.

Oh man, so torn on what versions to get.

I really like the idea of Wii U or Vita to get that fun map drawing/scrubbing... looks like lots of you are looking at Wii U. On the downside, I sort of expect Wii U and Vita to come out later, and I'm not sure I want to wait. Maybe the Xbox One version will be the secret rarest version??

PS4 would be good to gel with that SOTN/IGAvania on Playstations vibe, but that Castlevania/Nintendo nostalgia is pretty great...

I wish I had the cash to add more physical copies. Gotta catch 'em all. Have they said if there will be physical copies for sale once the game's out? I suspect not...

It's not "impossible", it would just be completely insane to process thousands of e-mail replies manually. How are they not "handling their shit" here? What's wrong with an automated system? All the Kickstarter campaigns I backed sent out surveys just like this, usually through Kickstarter's own system, but sometimes through a 3rd-party system as in this case. I can't find my survey for Broken Age at the moment (possibly I didn't have one because I just had the most basic tier), but I'd be very surprised if they did it manually...

The game has the same publisher on board as Mn9 and that is supposedly getting a physical release when initially during the Kickstarter it wasn't even known if a future physical copy became a reality, so take of this what you will.

The Vita and Wii U versions are being outsourced to another studio and isn't developed by Inti Creates doing the PC, PS4 and XB1 console versions so consider that angle.

Of course Armature Studios have a decent background so I'm sure they will do the Wii U and Vita versions justice.

Basically consider this, do you want to play this with the best possible performance on a big screen? Or do you want the convenience of being able play the game everywhere on the go. You'll have a few months to decide of course, but consider by the time Bloodstained comes out it will be the 20 years since SOTN came out.

SOTN was the only original console release of IGA's 2D Metroidvania titles in the entire series, outside of the multiplayer focused Harmony of Despair. I will probably be celebrating SOTN's 20th Anniversary by playing Bloodstained like how SOTN was played. on a console via a TV.

Of course, I'm not trying to sway your decision. It's entirely up to you how you want to enjoy Bloodstained.

Just remembered about this game after regretting not having the funds to back it, but now that I do, I was wondering if there was anyway to back it now or order a copy when it releases?

In the end I went with PC digital and Vita physical. One console and one handheld version, the best of both worlds!

Let is know how that turns out. If it doesn't work out for you let us know in the thread and I'll make sure her name gets in properly.

Excellent insights. After thinking about it more, I agree: SOTN was a phenomenal big TV and Playstation experience. I'd really love to have a PS4 copy sitting up there, so that's what I went in for.

I currently have Wii U as the download, but I might switch that to Vita. Cross-save (something Armature is hoping to do) would lend a great synergy to the choices.

Maybe I'll snag it elsewhere on sale, assuming physical releases, just to complete the set. If, y'know, the game is any good, hahaha. I guess no-one will know that for another 2 years. I'm pretty confident, though.

I'll also definitely want to play this on a big screen. Though the kind of game it is has this great "pick up and play" aspect to it, at least the first few times I play it, I'll definitely want to treat it as any other "big title" that I heavily anticipate, play it for as long as I possibly can, and think and talk about it when I can't. I might grab a Vita version later on just for that quick fun aspect of it (especially with the additional modes), but my main platform will be Steam. I did consider PS4 just for Playstation nostalgia, I guesso, but the Steam beta + backwards compatibility (if this game is half as good as we're expecting it to be, I'll definitely be playing it for a looong time).

Thank you. Hearing you say this is nice.

You're welcome, they really should do this, it doesn't cost them anything to have a special "in loving memory of xxxx" line in the credits, and it would be an incredible gesture.

can anyone tell me i didnt get any emails about the voting process for those weapons? cause i am so confused bout this katana and getting it in the game

This was part of the Sword or Whip ARG that we ran before the Kickstarter started, and it ended about a week before the end of the Kickstarter campaign. Clan Katana ended up winning, so there will be an overpowered Katana hidden somewhere in the game.

Where are you guys seeing this name for the credits thing at?

Putting your name in the credits is available at the $100+ tiers.

Why send the survey so soon anyway? The game is like 2 years away and we don't know anything about the possible differences between platforms. Seems like it would be a lot better to send it close to release...?

We’d like to collect as much information in the meantime as we can. For example, the survey will allow anyone to upgrade their tier or add on additional tiers, and certain tiers include shirts, so we’ll need to know how many shirts to produce, as well as their sizes.

WTF!

Are you fuc**ng kidding me?

Certain countries have a higher prevalence of losing packages that have been shipped from the United States, however packages shipped via a higher shipping class are much more likely to be delivered successfully. Upgrading your shipping class is optional, so you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. If you decide not to upgrade your shipping class, your package will be shipped via the standard shipping class that all other international packages are being shipped with.

The cost of upgrading your shipping includes the shipping fee you had already paid. For example, if you selected the $300 tier which also has a $20 international shipping fee, it wouldn’t be an additional $65, it would be an extra $45 (we’ve updated the survey to make this less confusing). The cost of upgrading the shipping class varies depending on the tier, but does not vary by country (so different tiers will have different upgrade prices, but not different countries).

I have a question about the shipping survey. Since the game isn't out until 2017, and there is the possibility that I will not be at my current address by the game's release. Could I change my shipping address later?

Edit: I only received the shipping survey and I bought the $130 package tier bundle thing.

Yep! You’ll be able to access your survey link and change your shipping address whenever you’d like. We’ll also send you an address-check email before we ship anything to you. If you need any help with updating your shipping address, feel free to email orders@fangamer.com and we can update it for you.

If I upgrade my tier do I've to pay the difference now?

Yep, payments are made immediately. You can always upgrade your tier later on if you’re not sure if you want to just yet.

Can someone tell me what backer exclusive items were? I am considering to upgrade to Special Backer Edition

It’ll include a Swordwhip weapon and IGA as a super-hard secret boss.

I don't get it. Is that Fangamer thing mandatory? I just paid for the basic digital version.

Yes. Other than shipping information for physical merchandise, we’re also collecting everyone’s selected game platform and region. Kickstarter has extremely limited built-in survey functionality, so we developed our own custom survey/database software.

I’m REALLY sorry about that!! I replied to the PM you sent me, and I’ll see what I can do to help get you taken care of.

Has anyone that backed via paypal gotten their survey yet? I still haven't received mine.

The surveys are currently in the process of being sent out, and they will likely all be sent off by the end of this week. Please email orders@fangamer.com if you still haven’t received your survey by Monday the 21st of September. Thank you very much for your patience!
