Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

Am willing to bet that Bison is involved. Her family also share the same goal as Guy's Bushinryu style to eliminate the "Threat to the world".


Karin did have a rival battle against Guy in alpha 3 story. And she's the one who tells Guy about Bison.

It's gonna be Karin Vs Rashid battle of the rich kids. I don't know why anyone would get their hopes up about Karin being anything but ancillary to whatever main plot this game has.

My point was that Karin wouldn't have become the head of the Kanzuki Zaibatsu at such a young age unless her parents died. And knowing Street Fighter lore, Bison would be the most likely one to kill them (unless they died of sickness).
 
I don't know if it's the best place to ask, but do you guys have a good wiki or something to catch up with the Street Fighter story ? I never was interested before, but hearing all of you talk about it kinda make me curious.
 
I just came to the realization that we don't have a token joke-tier/troll character yet. I dislike that Capcom (over)does this, but hey, it's pretty much SF tradition nowadays.

I do believe that Laura will have ties to Sean, but I really, really hope they don't make her the joke character. We know Alex/Urien don't qualify, so if such a character exists, it would likely be Laura or Zen. Zen is an awful name, so I'm inclined to hope that, if there must be a joke character on the initial roster, he'll be it.

I think I expect a lot of similarities to MK in how Capcom approaches their story mode this time around. Even Ed Boon predicted that long before SFV was announced.

Like it or not MKIX forever changed how stories should be told in FG. It is the norm now. If you want your FG to be financially successful you need story mode like that now. No more beating arcade and watching a 30 sec clip. Those days are gone now.
 
I wonder if DLC characters will automatically come with alternate costumes, or if you'll have to buy them separately? Or will there even be ones available when they first release?

That depends on if Alex is DLC or in the base roster.

So like if you're the first character released in a "season" or whatever, you'd have to wait potentially months to get a single alternate costume when the next "pack" releases? I kinda hope they don't go that route. And if they do it that way we may never get bearded Alex, since I don't think newer characters retroactively got costumes from older packs.

Well ASW has been doing comprehensive VN styled story modes since 2009 with Blazblue, and there's Guilty Gear Xrd's 3D model OVA story. ASW is really good about their story modes (and single player in general).

They do but unfortunately those games are not popular among casual players. MK had the appeal and they implemented the story system which was experienced by millions upon millions of players that otherwise would not play FG. I am forever thankful to NRS for this. SFIV started the the process and MK finished it. MK is the most sold game of the year for a reason. No other fighting game I think can boast that.

Terrible outfit. Cody's alt 2 outfit for life. It should be his default actually when he shoes up in V.
