Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

But you'd still have to grind like there's no tomorrow for said characters (or pay for them as the easy way out).
Could do a HoTS type system where you get tons of fight money upfront as you complete tutorials and such so you have enough to get the bew character after a few online matches and story mode and after you exhaust the easy money you have to grind for hours to get a character.

Or, something like Guilty Gear where the DLC charcter is free for the first week(s). With something like you have to play an online match so they can verify you at least own a copy of the game.

It all entirely depends on how often they release characters, what rate we gain fight money, and how much fight money a character costs

Fight money can only be gained through online matches? Or will they be other methods?
I think we know next to nothing about it. It will probably be comparable to Koins I guess? Unless there isn't much to spend them on.

They better not do some "you can choose what titles to buy!" bullshit.

BTW, I doubt the grinding will be that bad. Maybe if you want to buy every character it would be, but Capcom said they want players to be able to choose which character they want to earn/buy. So if the first dlc character is a character you have no interest in playing, then you can just save your fight money for the next character.

I'm still of the opinion there's gonna be one or two DLC characters very soon after launch, (if not at launch) to show off the Fight Money system.

The real question is, are characters the only thing you spend the in-game currency on...?
First thing I thought of was Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
Wikipedia said:
Using money obtained throughout the game, the player may purchase unlockable characters, alternate character costumes, minigames, character profiles, movies, illustrations, and background music. Once purchased, the latter four are viewable in a gallery.
(Note that by alt costumes they mean color palettes, and it's not the stage music you buy, but the actual stage that you can pan around to view)

If colors beyond P1 and P2 aren't in from the beginning, they'll probably have you unlock them with Fight Money. A full gallery with art/music/stages/character profiles would be neat too.

Zangief would be just the same character we've always had, just like Ken and Bison. And that's what I'm saying. Newcomers have to build hype, and you'd just murder that away by showing Alex the very next day.

...What? Is Laura your favorite character? 😳

Or was I already on your ignore list and you just quoted and responded to that post without reading it?
Oh shit i forgot ignore existed thanks for reminding me now i dont have to read any of your condecending posts anymore

It would make more sense to have multiple rewards to spend the Fight Money on, because if it's only characters, that will detract from their DLC sales because everyone is going to be accruing the currency through normal play and will want something to spend it on.

It would be nice to get some details on these sort of things. While it's awesome seeing all the new characters, they've revealed precious little about any other aspect of the game so far.

It is weird how people are so attached to some characters that explaining why a specific day might not be the best day to reveal them is seen as a deeply personal attack

Yes peace and quiet

No, it's that you are condescending when it comes to these subject and are always backhandedly making remarks about these characters, which in turns feels like you are insulting them for liking these specific characters.

The grind is going to be real.

I never thought I would relive my MvC2 days. Lol
Ugh, I hope they don't include scaling character costs.

Also, it would be cool if at least a couple characters had alternate in-game unlock methods. (And not just characters, other things too.) I like unlocking stuff.

But the post that was quoted had absolutely none of that, and rather I acknowledged that Alex would be an exciting reveal. That's why it was so confusing. I'm convinced he just didn't read it and felt like lashing out at someone. Maybe it's been a rough day?

Maybe he actually remembered the ignore function on gaf. Just wanted to point it out like others have. You also generalized it so I thought you were talking about the other two people from the last page that told you to shove it.

I hope they add Juri sooner rather than later.

Well in that case, that was really rude and unwarranted of him lol. Imagine if everyone just made drive by "I don't like you" posts independent of what was happening in the thread. Yikes.

The mere fact that there is a "free option" to get stuff like characters means that its going to be obnoxious as all hell to do it. That model doesn't work (i.e. get people to pay cash monies) if its reasonably easy to get the things you want for free. If Capcom is nice (or dumb from a financial perspective) you'll get a character from like 10 hours of game time grinding or $3.99. If Capcom are "jerks", I hope you have fun grinding for like 100 hours to get a character or paying $8.95 for each one.

I legit did forget about the ignore function. You dont see it on mobile gaf and ive never found anyone necessary to ignore until now.

The question is the difference in time between dlc character releases. It might be enough to justify 10 hours of grinding wins.

In the beta you got way, way more Fight Money for winning than losing so good players might be able to buy characters in a reasonable amount of time.

I too am worried about this.

I love unlocking things, but I also hate it. Because I'm a completionist... I must have every single thing unlocked.

If only leaving the game on through entire nights on training mode was still an option

I never learned all the tricks. I went through the struggle.

Guile isn't making the cut, is he?

Nope. But he might make a cameo appearance in the story. He'll definitely be DLC in the future.

This is all I'm doing with my life for the next 7 years when the game releases.

I'll be paying for most of the characters. I'm ok with that.
Also i noticed that training stage hasnt been selectable at any of the builds.
I hope it's unselectable in the main game outside of training mode.
