Just imagine BB as Kojima and the blatant lack of respect for the 2nd best Snake.

Love this comic.

Haha, that's what is so bad about the Venom thing. The whole series builds up Big Boss to be this freaking legend and the truth is he is the biggest coward on the planet. Skull Face crushes his dreams, nearly kills him everyone he cares about. Its alright though, I'm gonna smoke my cigar and ride my motorcycle off into the sunset. Look at my cool leather jacket, I'm Big Boss.
i dunno. big boss got the last laugh with skull face. wipes him out without having to lift a finger. the way he dispatches venom snake to do the deed just goes to show that overall, big boss thought skull face was insignificant when he had bigger and better things to do in establishing a nation.

at least the paz storyline is resolved in a really satisfying manner
and venom being the medic and an old MSF member makes it actually better than it being the real Boss, only part of the game that's positively affected

You can do the Paz subplot thing with any random Combat Unit member lmao

She still calls you Snake.

I think it's cool that the player avatar shows up in cutscenes once you beat the game, but it sucks that it can't be shown in every mission. I would like to play through this entire game as Big Medic, but the game won't let me :(

Pretty horrible oversight considering I'm pretty sure that didn't happen in Peace Walker, you could even get calls from Snake himself in some Side Ops.

Deleted my save (after backing it up), and started again. I told myself I was going to do a lethal run, but there's just so many negatives. I just want to be with my friends DD and Quiet again. They understand me.

It was found in the data of the game.

Speaking of which, I do have questions now that I finished the game.

Is the general consensus that Chapter 3 is part of that weird FOB, no nukes cutscenes?
There's no general consensus really. Some believe so since the 3rd chapter is titled peace and it's believed the trigger for the cutscene is dismantling nukes. Though I don't see the point of having a title card for this.

Don't even know why the Punished Snake title is in the game, everyone will refer to him as Venom or Big Medic

To me it really seems like a whole other game was planned. I can't believe psycho mantis was just fan service or a red herring. He ends up in foxhound. He knew big boss. I have a feeling that even if we had chapter 3 or whatever there still would have been a lot of unanswered questions and maybe more clear indications of a sequel. It's too bad we'll probably never know.

It would be better if they don't call him the medic, but probably the first soldier in Outer Heaven's history to receive the codename snake, and in line to receive the Fox codename.

But instead you name him something underwhelming like the medic. Seriously, you can try and explain how good of a soldier he is, but in our minds, a medic is just that, a medic.

Just a curious question: Since this game relies heavily on language and how English is the enemy and whatnot, what did they do in the Japanese version?

Could Quiet not speak Japanese? Were they assuming Japanese was English? Did they change the story?

Did Big Boss deliberately send Solid Snake in to Outer Heaven to wack Fake/Venom Snake? Tie up loose ends?

EDIT: when does the ending of V take place? We see the Outer Heaven logo on the door. Are we really to assume that's during the events of MG1?

So what exactly is there to do after getting the true twist ending? I ask because I've since lost pretty much all interest in the game after getting the true ending and realizing there's next to zero plot material left aside from it.

The abruptness of the ending and the hollowness of chapter 2 stopped a 80 hour playthrough dead in its tracks for me.

Solid defeats Big Boss.

BB was still alive until MGS4 though so no he did not :)

Nothing substantial. Youtube the Mission 51 story beat featuring Eli.

You can do any mission with anyone and be called snake by everyone, even with being a female.

Kind of a huge oversight in my opinion .

I'm gonna play the apologist and say that its intentional. You're supposed to represent the idea (the meme as Ocelot calls it) of Big Boss. Not be Big Boss himself. So any Diamond Dog fits the bill.

Yes though we don't have much context for why Venom needed to go.

He was becoming too powerful and potentially too big a force left unchecked? Ocelot even mentions there can eventually only be one Boss.

Big Boss employed the "get set on fire and fall into a coma" strategy.

Truly the greatest warrior of the 20th century.

I was just joking. Yet I still maintain BB has infinitely more story potential and is more interesting than SS ever will be. It is unfortunate that Kojima just lost the plot after MGS3 in terms of his writing abilities. BB deserves so much better.

Solid later is CQC-hugged by Big Boss. Point - Big Boss.

This too. :)
