Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Wow I can't believe this but I got in also. Congrats to the other people that made it too. Can't wait to get started on this early

Wait, you can still export from RB2? Any other games still have working export? (PS3 only)

You would have to contact EA Support to try and get a working export code, but if you get a code, yes, you can still export.

Rock Band 1 also still exports, no code necessary, and Rock Band Blitz's export still works, but that's about it.

My wife was so pissed that she did not know about this until after it was closed off. Would have helped to get a free bundle since we have to buy a new console as well.

Is Blitz worth doing? Never purchased it, so I am not sure if I can be bothered if the tracklisting is average.

It's great value, 25 songs for $15. And it comes with a free game (although it should be the other way around)! That's a $50 value in just dlc, for $15. Plus the game!

So, what do you guys reckon will be the intro cinematic music? My moneys on either "Toys In The Attic" (Cause hurr durr, getting the plastic controllers out the attic right guys?) or "Violent Shiver", feels like it'd fit any of HMX's previous RB intros.

not sure, launch trailer song will be fallout boy centuries though, I've been calling that since rock band 4 was announced lol.

Out of curiosity, what route did you go to get the RB2 replacement code from EA? I've been trying to get one with no luck, and I've seen others in this thread say the same. Do we have to just get lucky in EA support chat or did you call a support number?
I asked for a replacement code through the support chat. Got it within 5 minutes.

Sorry if this has been answered a few times but do you need the unique export codes from the previous physical disc games to be able to import these songs into Rock Band 4? I don't know if I even have the codes anymore.

I do have Rock Band 3 digitally but got Rock Band 1 and 2 on disc. Is there no option for Rock Band 3 songs to be imported into Rock Band 4?

Thanks!

If you own the digital exports, you're fine. YOu just have to queue up the downloads. As for RB3, there hasn't been any info on if it will export.

I'm having no luck with EA support chat after 4 visits in getting an RB2 code.

Theoretically, if I found a sealed copy of RB2 or an unused code it will still work, right? Or were the EA codes special in some way?

Theoretically, what info do I have to provide to EA to get a Rock Band 2 export code? And would I need a copy of Rock Band 3 and a 360 to redeem it?

Looked around and couldn't find any help for my problem: I really want to use my Guitar Hero guitars but both have the same problem. One's a Warriors Of Rock, the other a GH5 guitar. Both have this issue where the guide/power button will randomly use itself. So while playing the guide will pop up and freeze everything or when the 360 is off the guitar will turn it back on. I'm going to try over the weekend to fix it but if not I guess I'll resort to some $50 (used!) ones on Amazon.

I redeemed my unused export code from my RB2 manual into RB3 on 360 a week ago and it worked...

I'm so glad I got my exports sorted in May. It seems like even more of a mess now than it was then. So damn excited to get my library on PS4 with a nice new guitar. Deliberately haven't played guitar in RB3 since RB4 was announced as I want it to feel fresh.

Are you in europe? we never had to go though Harmonix for our xbox exports.

What console and where are you from?

Before, you had to go through Harmonix's website to get a export code, if you're on the 360 in europe, you should be fine however.

Probably a short somewhere in it, or the contact dome is damaged. Easiest fix would be to remove the button entirely and see if it still does it. If it does, it's a PCB issue and you're boned :(

I'm in the USA, using Xbox 360.

Thankfully, I got a code on my 5th EA support chat visit. I was directed to the Harmonix forum for the 3rd time. When I told the rep that I had been sent to that forum already and then directed back to EA chat, he said he would check in with his higher ups. He came back saying that they don't support the game anymore, but could issue a code as a courtesy. I'll give it a try when I get home, but it looks like I'm set.

With just over 2 weeks before release, the lack of ION support news is bothersome :(

Agreed. I can deal with no online MP at launch. I can deal with a mediocre and fairly small setlist. I cannot deal with no IONs. Until they support them I'm unfortunately going to have to resist purchasing it despite being really excited for it. I have tons of DLC ready to go and would surely buy plenty more, but that is just one issue I cannot overlook.

Wonder if the adaptor will be a standalone purchases on Amazon UK? Only 3 packages available at the moment are...

"Game + Legacy Adapter"
"Game + Guitar"
"Game + Band In A Box"

Kind of want both the guitar AND the legacy adapter.

Im sure it will be after the holidays.
Im really annoyed i cant buy the game digitally and the adapter standalone in the us. Gonna have to go through the hassle of selling the physical copy

Bug Ion, maybe they'll release ps4 and xbox one drum modules, that'd be pretty neat.
Seriously, everyone putting the lack of ION support completely on Harmonix is getting old. With everything Harmonix has already done for their community and how much of backlash of people constantly asking about ION support, do you honestly think they just aren't doing it just because? I'm sure it required A LOT of cooperation between Harmonix and MS/Sony to get all of the other TONS of wireless instruments to work. Maybe ION is just not interested in working with Harmonix so Harmonix can't get the help they need to make it happen. Because like I said, I'm pretty sure if they could make it work, they would/will. Have we heard anything at all from ION about all this?

Odd question, but did Harmonix mention whether the PS4 drum would be compatible with PS3? In the event there is no RB3 export, I'd like to boot that up from time to time.

I'm still rocking the RB1 drums, I'd like to get new ones, hoping either MadCatz might eventually sell it separately (in limited quantities) or there's a decent resell market for it. Since I'm quite happy with my RB2 guitar, I'm not feeling the need to upgrade that one.

The new instruments are not backwards compatible. It's using the new wireless tech that the Xbox One and PS4 use.

You can. The adaptor just isn't up for sale yet by itself but it will be. If you take a look back a page or two, it was up on Amazon early for a bit.

So many people are feeling entitled. They don't even bat an eye over the fact that your old songs and wireless instruments can somehow work on a WHOLE DIFFERENT GEN of consoles for free (barring the XB1 adapter). This is like black magic to me and to top it off, every single pre-Rock Band 3 song will get harmonies added.

so, does the ps4 version still use a oversized dongle like the ps3 did? or did they atleast make it in a usb stick shape now?

Would I sound entitled if were to ask when we'd find out more information about this? The game's just a couple weeks away, and I have no idea how much of my library I'll be able to play at launch. Will 50 exported songs/legacy DLC be carried over? 100? 250? 500? 1,000? Everything? Maybe zero, with the first legacy content coming a little further down the road? If the songs come very piecemeal, what will the rollout schedule look like?

I've preordered a full band bundle and am in no matter what, but a huge reason I've bought in is to play existing DLC. I know Harmonix has said:

The number of songs available as DLC at launch is to be determined and may be subject to change. Previously purchased DLC will be available for re-download and use in Rock Band 4 only after the DLC is released on next-generation consoles.

...but we're a hair over two weeks from release, and that seems like a very fundamental question to leave unanswered. Can we get a ballpark estimate, at least?

They're saying that no news is good news.

Still, they need to hammer this point home because quite frankly it is their main selling point. I'll get the game in december or january when I have a little bit more disposable income. Originally I preordered to import from the US because all my dlc is US based, but the lack of information on how this'll work exactly made me cancel the costly import for now and wait how this all works out.

Thanks!

“And this is just the start – with more than 1500 songs available on the Music Store at launch and more to come, we’re confident that Rock Band 4 will provide the best music gaming experience for fans this fall.”

I've been keeping an eye open but hadn't seen that statement specifically.

Save me going through all these pages, if I am to get Rock band 4 on either the PS4 or XB1, how do I export the songs from previous games and get them to RB4? Do I need a 360 or PS3 with physical copies of each game?
