Wow Minority Report bombed hard. Blindspot did very well for itself though.

I haven't checked out S2 yet because i am afraid going to be 10 more hours of politics and payoff/build up for another non piratey pirate season. I just want some swash buckling high seas action dang it

Gave up after the first season as well. The first episode was basically Assassin's Creed Black Flag and then the rest of the season was just people in cosplay hanging out on a beach.

Watch season 2 mangs.

Gotham's premiere was on Playstation 1 week before it aired on Fox and Minority Report is just bad. Even if you don't know Toronto and can't see all the Toronto-isms, it's just a bad looking show that seemingly undermines the entire point of the movie.

Season 1 was literally 10 hours of set up so i would hope season 2 pays off.

Shieet we forgot to do ratings predictions guys :/

Oh well, there's still time!

The Muppets - 2.6

Scream Queens - 2.3

Limitless - 1.8

Difficult People getting canceled/renewed? Can't find anything online. (Only that people wanted to cancel it to a joke on episode 3 lol)

Hadn't seen the movie and the show doesn't really set it up very well but I have to assume that putting the pre-criminals away was the controversial part of the Precrime program in the movie/book, not the prime prevention part?

Otherwise the show seems like it wants to set up those themes of fate-vs-free will and all that. Dunno how far it wants to follow up on that. Or if it will given the ratings.

I think the people who would have been the most excited to watch it probably watched the widely pirated pilot screener that's been out for a few months, and I suspect they are no longer most excited to watch it LOL.

So I have to ask...

Supergirl's pilot leaked on torrent sites six months before the premiere date (in full HD)

Should we expect that to have any impact on the ratings for Supergirl's premiere? Or do you think the leak will help Supergirl's ratings from a marketing standpoint (early positive buzz)?

Nerds will constantly rewatch all their dumb superhero stuff, but they will only watch The Devil Wears Prada once

so this is gonna flop and the CW is gonna have to pick up the pieces after it fails on CBS

Season 2 of Black Sails was a lot of fun, significant improvement over the first one.
Maybe when there's less TV on (so probably never, unless the TVpocolpyse happens soon).

Well the whole point of the movie was that Tom Cruise gets set up and then has to basically end the system and save the precog kids. The movie ends with everyone being let go because it revealed a flaw in the whole system... now, they're like "the program wasn't THAT bad" and basically going down the same road again.

It just makes me wonder why they would even bother using the Minority Report name. It's not like it was a movie that anyone really cares about, so I can't imagine someone saying "HOLY CRAP IT'S A SEQUEL TO MINORITY REPORT I NEED TO WATCH IT".

So I have to ask...

I feel like there's a difference between a leak of that kind and a pre-airing. Those leaks are so far in advance that by the time the premiere happens, people will probably be interested in watching it again.

I guess a real test would be ratings for Game of Thrones. Since the first four episodes got out there right when the season started, you would assume that would have negatively affected the ratings, but I have no idea if that was actually the case.

I try to stop judging shows solely on the pilot these days. But I guess there are millions of other people that do, so :(

If you like action/adventure shows (and pirates!), I would make time for it. It's better than most of the other shows in the genre.
Well, not many piratey shows around!
I guess there's not much to watch in Fall anyway... this week I've just been doing a MASH marathon for lack of anything better to watch. I'd rewatch Roseanne as well, but Netflix doesn't seem to have all of it.

By genre, I meant action/adventure, not pirate :p

My main question:

Comedy Central renamed The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore to The Nightly Show because of Fox's Minority Report.

.....how is The Nightly Show doing compared to Minority Report? :-P

It's practically impossible to fairly compare the two. Minority Report did about 3 million people. Nightly Show after losing the Stewart lead in is doing .329 million.

During the Daily Show's last week it was up towards .75 million.

Now, most importantly, the show probably costs a fraction of what Minority Report costs, so it's probably doing better overall.

Hell, it even got renewed for a second season, which is more than what we can probably assume for Minority Report!

Blindspot was ok. It didn't blow me away or anything, but I'm curious to see where they're going with it.

I agree with Feinberg when he says there's probably no way they will have a satisfying explanation to the tattoos. Which means they'll keep the mystery going for as long as possible, assuming the show doesn't get cancelled and you have to read the ending in a comic book like Revolution.

Watch season 2 mangs.

Yeah, it's barely even hyperbole to say that season 2 of Black Sails is a million times better than season 1. It went from, "Eh, I'll watch this I guess" to "Fuck yeah, time for Black Sails."

I agree with Feinberg when he says there's probably no way they will have a satisfying explanation to the tattoos.
We all know they can't go with the real explanation--that they just wanted an excuse to show their lead actress scantily clad as much as possible.

Yeah, unfortunately, none of these high-concept shows ever seem to have an endgame planned out. Or they do, but the network has them drag it out way past when it was supposed to end. (see: Prison Break)

I dunno. Last season was really bad. It basically went from a show that I had on in the background and half paid attention to a show that I forget it's even on.

Guessing that's a very soft 3.1 that will evaporate quickly, but then there's the Blacklist, so what do I know?

The blacklist is actually good though so...

Man should I even bother watching Minority Report? Seems like it's already doomed and not good in the first place.

I kinda liked Blindspot...I guess? It was OK. I like everything :/

Also is Ratsky's favorite tv show of the last 15 years The Strain the worst example of stretching 3 seasons into 5 seasons ever? That last episode...yikes.

FX Chief John Landgraf on Netflix's Programming: "Our Shows Are Better"

Netflix has made 14 shows," Landgraf told The Business host Kim Masters, who is also editor-at-large at The Hollywood Reporter. "Take any 14 shows we've made — they're better. Any 14 shows — on average, our shows are better."

Netflix has "made" 31 shows. FX has only made 39, and they've been around far longer. By the end of next year, Netflix will have produced more "original" (first-run) series than FX. But sure, I'll indulge him.

Dirt, The Bridge, Anger Management, Partners, Son of the Beach, Starved, The Riches, The Comedians, Chozen, Lucky, Unsupervised, Saint George, Testees, Tyrant.

I guess not those 14 then?

FX has more good shows than Netflix does (historically not currently lol), but yeah, he's completely wrong on that point.

I did not watch the movie either but Limitless wasn't too shabby.

Wasn't expecting Mr. Manhattan Love Story to actually be decent either. Also I'm just a giant sucker for in-your-face colour correction.

Netflix is going to have Fuller House and they have a Richie Rich (why?????) show.

Tangentially, what's up with Yahoo Screen? They made three shows and that's it? Are they giving up?

Exactly. I try to look as a pilot as a template for what a good show could be, but rarely are they great in and of themselves, or terribly indicative of the quality a show can attain.

I think judging a show by its pilot is not great, but most people judge most shows by absolutely nothing at all, so if you watch the pilot, you've already done more than most.

Yep. So sick of Landgraf by now. I'm sure Tyrant, The Strain, AHS: Hotel, Bastard Executioner and that goddamn OJ Simpson limited series are going to be making tons of top 20 lists of all time bro. Stop running your goddamn mouth and get back to making shows like you used to.

The Muppets: 3.3
Scream Queens: 2.5
Limitless: 1.9

the first two will plummet immensely in week two, the third will be like any given CBS show and slowly decline over the course of a decade

With all the discussion of Scream Queens on Social media I actually think it'll hit a 3 in the demo.

Does Limitless have anything to do with the not-Lucy movie?
