So here we have it the 24th Bond theme Writing's on the Wall

The track, ‘Writing’s On The Wall’, was co-written by Smith and fellow GRAMMY© Award winner Jimmy Napes and it’s the first James Bond theme song recorded by a British male solo artist since 1965.

Commenting on the announcement, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the producers of SPECTRE, said, “Sam and Jimmy have written the most inspirational song for Spectre and with Sam’s extraordinary vocal performance, ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ will surely be considered one of the greatest Bond songs of all time.”

Smith said: “This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”

Personally a bit boring very samey. Skyfall still remains best of modern Bond songs.

You know a good song that makes you drop everything you were doing to just pay attention to it?

This ain't that song.

I think it sounds beautiful.

However, I don't know what Bond songs should sound like, so I can't speak for it as a bond theme.

Still, I loved it.

Man that made Duran Duran seem straight up straight. The song makes me imagine Bond crying over his favorite broken ceramic garden gnome. It makes me think off Bond scraping the gold off of that girl in Goldfinger, and wearing her gold paint under his toenails from her dead body in memory for years. It makes me imagine that Bond replaced his pelvic bones with the teeth of the enemies he was most sexually attracted to. I am just thinking that the likes of Carly Simon are tougher bad ass spies then Sam Smith.

Bad? No, I wouldn't say that. The music is nice enough and there's nothing I can particularly fault it for... Except...

Is it bland? Yes. Very. Extremely forgettable, and I don't even think an exceptional credit sequence can change that. Ah well.

Still think they should have went with Muse.

Sounds like a classic bond song at the start and then downhill from there. Pretty poor. Kinda reminds me of MJ's Earth Song.

Yo, that Duran Duran theme was dope.

After Adele's take last time around, anything following was likely to pale in comparison. Not a fan of the ballad thing this new theme's got going on. Sounds more like something played in the credits. Not too bothered though. However, and this is just personal taste, but the last Bond movies that had good themes were also the better movies (Casino Royale and Skyfall). Interesting to see where Spectre falls.

I really like it and I have no love for Sam Smith usually. A LOT better than Adele's. Lots of emotion - there are obviously sweeping, typical Bond elements here, but there's some lovely soul to it. The big Whitney moments are a nice surprise, keeping it fresh.

So there you have it, you may take my word for it as I've done yearly rankings of all the Bond themes.

It sounds really boring.

I would have skipped this seconds in if I heard it on the radio. Doesn't sound very Bondy, either.

Bruh, this over Skyfall? Man... I mean, you're entitled to your opinion, but that's an odd one. :p

He does halfway decent when he keeps his vocals in the traditional ranges. When he goes high pitched it just ugh

all build up and pretty much no pay off at all

Apt description. It falls back on the orchestra, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It's a very typical Bond theme, really. It's not bad, just lacks a strong hook or chorus.

I keep waiting for that moment where it clicks and is a great theme but it never really gets there.

Sounds like it'll be an average to slightly below average bond theme.
