Uncharted 2 PS4 Gameplay

Looks so good. I think it's incredibly short sighted (and a great shame) that Uncharted 4 is 30fps.

Not me man. 60fps is great but I am more than happy with 30. I actually wish H5 was a locked 30 and they increased the detail. The bareness of the some of the environments was not a worthy tradeoff. Though I might feel different when I play it.

Options you set will also apply to all 3 games if you want them to, and they've added options for Motion Blur for both objects and the camera if you so choose. Support for full 7.1 surround sound is available in all 3, and as expected there are plenty of ways to tweak the audio experience. Those soundtracks have never sounded so good!

The one thing that we worried about though, were the controls in Drake's Fortune. I'm happy to say that they've made it feel like 2 & 3 now. You're still limited to Drake's move set (for example, you can't do a quick throw of a grenade, which was an added feature in 2) but that stiffness you feel when you back and play on the PS3 version is completely gone now.

I bet most people are buying the collection only for UC2.

I would't mind the option to just buy UC2 for 10-15 bucks. As it stands now, I'll just wait for the cheap code sales that will follow this game being bundled with the console. Weird time to release this game.

You wish an FPS was 30 fps instead of 60? wow

Damn was hoping they added the quick throw into one but still this pleases me greatly.

Am I the only one who has no clue about why Uncharted 1's controls/aiming was supposedly so bad? My memory of the three games is exactly the same.

Maybe because I didn't play them back to back.

I'm so excited for this collection!

You don't remember having to use the gyro for grenades? Horrible....

I watched part of the 1st video and I honestly feel it looks worse than I remember. When the helicopter is shooting the bullets are ahead of Drake. Is that a bug? Shouldn't he be running ahead of the bullets?

Not bad but they may feel outdated now since UC2 aiming twas superior.

Wasn't sure where to post this but I thought you guys would be interested. Druckmann recently spoke to OPM and explained the philosophies behind Uncharted 4's set piece design.

"I guess our approach in the past has been go bigger" says Druckmann talking about uncharted 3. "But we felt with this one we felt like if we went any bigger, it would become comical; we would become a parody of ourselves. So it became really about how do we make them unique? How do we make them more playable?"

The part in bold makes me really excited. Similarly he talks about left behind and how those intimate set pieces such as the photobooth scene are just as exciting to him as the bombast and how there will be more room to breath between combat citing the Tenzin village in Uncharted 2 as well as left behind.

Thanks for the info zsynqx, i can't wait for UC4 it is going to be the ultimate UC experience

So, how does it look? We've played the opening four or so chapters of all three of the titles in the package, and the visuals are much as you remember them. Of course, rose-tinted glasses can do funny things, and 'remember' is the operative word here. The presentation is actually extraordinary: upgraded character models, buffed up textures, and enhanced lighting pair with a crystal clear 1080p resolution and silky smooth 60 frames-per-second performance. It's the Uncharted that you remember – polished to a mirror-like sheen.

We should stress that you can toggle between all three games using a new option on each title's main menu, and the loading is practically non-existent when you switch. Bluepoint Games – the team behind the brilliant God of War and Shadow of the Colossus remasters – has been tasked with converting the titles to the PS4, and it's clear that it's been given ample budget to do the job properly. Even taking into account the absence of multiplayer, the whole package reeks of quality – and we've been asked not to discuss some of the very welcome extras at this time.

As you'd expect, the third game is definitely the best presented of the three, with some sequences indistinguishable from a native new-gen release. You'll be able to capture all of these moments on camera using the new photo mode, which we assume that we're not breaking our embargo terms by mentioning. This allows you to frame the action in any way that you see fit, while you can add post-processing effects for that extra bit of pretty if you wish. Every image that you see in this article was captured in-game using the handy tool.

Halo 5 will be your first Halo game then huh? Man the days when it was just 30fps the games were pretty much unplayable. Remember how much people were lamenting the games not being 60fps and how it seemed every review had to put a footnote that said - "Halo # is good but unfortunately we just couldn't enjoy ourselves nor engage with the multiplayer because ever since Call of Duty its just not a game if it isn't 60fps."

Rough times. I don't know what ND is thinking here.

Not a bug. The helicopter is scripted to shoot like that, expecting the player to run 'in-sync' with it but you can fall behind the bullets if you decide to go 'slow'. The helicopter in that first part isn't very dangerous. It's a vessel/excuse for things to fall apart as Drake jumps and runs and stuff.

Curious to see how it holds up, especially since the game became a blueprint for so many games that this might actually feel a little bit too familiar to new comers.

They seriously added doughnut drake??
Quite a few, it turns out. Scherr and Baldwin shared that several characters would be joining the doughnut roster alongside the infamous Doughnut Drake. These bonus skins will be playable in the single-player campaign, rather than being restricted to multiplayer as has been the case with skins in previous titles. Additionally, roughly 85% of multiplayer skins from past Uncharted games will be available to use in Uncharted 3‘s single-player.

You can even play all three single-player games in the collection as Doughnut Drake (or any one of over sixty-five other characters skins) if you’re so inclined. A lot of new polish, hard work, and love were put into making this the ultimate Uncharted collection.

As much as other studios can try, nothing is as good as a Naughty Dog game. Anyone who has not played uncharted and has a ps4 should try this.

Amazing.

How did you even survive playing the original trilogy at sub-30fps/screentearing? If anything, UC4 may be an improvement for a mainline release.

Uncharted 1 was rough as fuck, no doubt.

My point is that after playing 1,2, and 3 at 60fps, going back to 30fps for '4 is going to be weird. In fact, isn't MP in '4 60fps?

Nah, you won't even notice that much I don't think. You can't have a game look that amazing on console and have it be 60fps.

fuck that.....I loved all 3
Yup. UC2 is the best game in the series, but I don't know why some think it's the only good one. The original, aka Texture-zilla, was amazing at the time and set the stage for what would come next. It also still has a bit of its own feel in the series with it all taking place in one location. UC3 was more UC2, just not as polished or as perfectly designed.

Reviews embargo ends September 30th apparently.

I felt 3 was the worst as it strived to be more than a fun pulpy story, which is perfectly fine and what i imagine is happening in uncharted 4, but didn't follow through so tonally it felt off. Didn't have the fun of the first 2 (Cutter being the exception), but didn't have much emotional weight either.

Oh reviews in 5 days pretty early.

This must be a stellar package then. Sony's confident. It's Bluepoint though, so I'm not surprised.

The train setpiece in Uncharted 2 is still one of the most memorable gaming moments I've ever had. What an incredible section.

Curious to see how it holds up, especially since the game became a blueprint for so many games that this might actually feel a little bit too familiar to new comers.

I can't think of a single third person, setpiece-driven action game that comes close to Uncharted 2, even today.

Am i the only one who enjoyed UC 1 more than 2 and especially 3 (ugh)?

Something about it makes it special for me.

No, you're not, there's plenty of people I've seen say the same thing. It's the locale, you're on an island that you become familiar with and it's an island ND created from scratch based off of nothing other than their imagination unlike the other games.

Of course, it's not like everything in UC2 and UC3 is just taken from the real world or anything -- just the base locations.

All the globetrotting in UC2/3 doesn't let you become as intimate as UC1 does by taking place on an island that has you return to locations you've been to earlier in the game (UC1 does this, it's really neat). UC1's got an additional character in the game than the other two and that additional character is the island.
