I think the Switch 2 being the power of the PS4 has been put to bed. And my initial thinking of somewhere between PS4 Pro and Series S is looking far more likely with each port.
People will get that impression on last generation games. And fair enough, in terms of purely raster, a portable switch is about equivalent to a PS4 and Steamdeck. If those games aren't reworked to include new features like DLSS, you'll get results which will be comparable.
But obviously, the Switch 2 is capable of much, much more, and recent games will prove that.
If its a current gen console It should runs current gen games, what is impressive about It ? Even Steamdeck can run most of this games ( at lower settings and res ) ffs.
It's impressive because we never had a portable machine capable of running current generation games with so few compromises.
Even the psp and the vita, both of which were seen as state of the art for portable consoles, had to order a gimped experience compared to their console counterparts.
The Switch 1 for close to achieving what the Switch 2 is doing; it could indeed run current generation games, sometimes surprisingly decently like Kingdom Come. But even then, it felt like an experience too degraded for many people.
The Switch 2 has compromises, which is inevitable considering it's a hybrid machine, but those compromises are really few especially compared to a Series S. And everything is a matter of compromises; console players are also significantly compromising compared to PC players, and we accept those compromises because we often find the console experience more pleasant.
