Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

And I highly doubt that they'd swap characters because of leaks. Otherwise they would have swapped out Rainbow Mika & Karin. As for the whole Sentinel thing, I recall that being a case of mistranslating what Niitsuma said at the time.

In nitsumas defense they butchered Hsienko so much that she was unrecognizable.

Why are people starting to think that hy won't be among the initial 16?
Who do you think the 2 other would be?
SF2 characters. My best guess would be Dhalsim and especially Zangief. And people have been doubting them since we saw the roster in July and saw that the two remaining characters were either SF2/SF4. Now that the non-SF2 character slots are all filled up (Karin) it's likely we'll have to wait for DLC for Alex/Urien.

Wait, you know this already.

Where have you been?

Eh nah I don't believe it
Consider the following
Nash was revealed followed by Dictator (Alpha>SF2)
then we got Cammy along with Birdie (SF2+Alpha)
Afterwards we got 2 SF2 reps followed by 2 SFA reps

I think they already filled the SF2 and SFA reps by now, thus I assume the remaining ones are gonna be from SF3
Otherwise, 1 SF2 rep, 1 SFA rep

Non the less i still say we get Alex+Urien with Gouki being one of the first DLC characters.

Some people are saying Alex and Urien are DLC, based on what? That Siliconera didnt say they were initial roster? They didnt say Karin or R Mika were either. So that's poor logic. Also they leaked Alex and Urien first.

Earlier today, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono hinted that a Brazilian character would be revealed soon for Street Fighter V. This could be Blanka, Sean, or a new character entirely, but we’ve got a different piece of news to share.

Sources have confirmed to Siliconera that Alex and Urien from Street Fighter III will be playable characters in Street Fighter V as well. Look out for the two to be announced at some point in the future.

Street Fighter V is in development for PC and PlayStation 4.

Update: Siliconera asked a Capcom spokesperson to confirm our report and we received a reply saying, “Capcom does not comment on rumors or speculation.”

Earlier, Siliconera reported that Alex and Urien from Street Fighter III would be part of the playable roster in Street Fighter V. Now, we can confirm two more characters: Karin Kanzuki and R. Mika from the Alpha series.

Karin made her first appearance in a Street Fighter spin-off manga starring Sakura. She made her playable debut in Street Fighter Alpha 3, and was then included in Capcom Fighting Evolution as well.

Meanwhile, R. Mika, too, made her first appearance in Street Fighter Alpha 3. She hasn’t been featured in any of Capcom’s fighters following that game.

Look out for Karin and Mika to be revealed for Street Fighter V at some point in the future.

Update: Siliconera asked a Capcom spokesperson to confirm this report too and we received the same reply saying, “Capcom does not comment on rumors or speculation.”

Quoted for truth. The blue section that everyone's obsessing over was clearly the Alpha section. And if it was a bunch of SFII characters like Zangief & Dhalsim, one would think that Capcom would get them out of the way earlier & hype up Karin & Rainbow Mika more. Even with DLC, you don't end off your initial roster hype train with a bunch of characters that you've seen in almost every Street Fighter game. It'd be like making Ken your last reveal.....why?

We could see Marvel vs. Capcom 4 by 2018 at the absolute earliest, but that would depend on how big of a hit Street Fighter V ends up being. I would say Capcom All-Stars, but the success of the Vs. games usually depends on what Capcom was paired up with, & clearly the MvC series is the most popular of the Vs. games (followed by Capcom vs. SNK). A 2018 release would line up nicely with Avengers: Infinity War (Part 1), & it's not like Marvel has a lot of big console games lined up anyway, despite them apparently wanting more of said console games to be made. That plus Marvel's recent references to the MvC series (& Marvel giving the MvC Earth an official classification). For now, I think Capcom's full efforts are on Street Fighter V. If the game's huge, maybe they'll get the wheels turning for MvC4 with Sony's financial assistance. But overall, as someone in the Capcom classics thread pointed out, Capcom's been running a tighter ship financially as of late. As such, I don't see them getting another contract going with Marvel unless Capcom can see a good profit coming out of it (& if they can get a deal going that would allow for more long-term support for MvC4).
how much red string and newspaper clippings do you have in your room?

My name is Daigo Umehara and I'm the fastest man alive. When I was a child I saw my mother having her Super Art parried by something impossible, my father went to losers for her loss, then an accident made me the impossible.

Though I did add on to that saying that if early talks haven't started by now, we'd have to wait until 2019 at the absolute earliest if Capcom is waiting for Street Fighter V's sales numbers to come in before beginning talks with Marvel.

To the outside world I'm just a normal video game player. But secretly, I go to tournaments to kick ass & find others like me. And one day I'll find the man who parried my mother & get justice for my mother. I am, The Beast!

It's unfortunate we lost people. If it's for what I think it's for I can't say I disagree with it but hopefully they aren't permabans.

Going by with what I heard, 5 days ban.

Anyway, two more weeks until we know third newcomer's moveset. I'm excited about two remaining newcomers and what would they bring to the table.

Why not? It's how they managed SSFIV, after all. The difference now would be that you wouldn't have to pay real money to purchase the characters if you don't want to.

We have to see the prices and method of distribution yet, thou, the pack thing is just wishful thinking.

Capcom said they didn't like how players weren't able to just buy the character they were interested in and had to buy all of them if they were just interested in 1 character. So if it's a pack, it just means they're released at once, but individually purchasable.

But Nash and Birdie aren't in the SF2 box, but the SF2 characters you mentioned are.

5 days is nothing big. They'll be back before the next reveal.

Honestly these should be pretty interesting reveals. I think the new characters have turned out well so far and I think people will be happy with the returning characters when they are announced (If they aren't Alex and Urien I expect them to still be fan favorites).

The game is turning out really nicely, I'm starting to wonderwhat tthey're going to be able to tease us with while we wait until March after the reveals are all done.

Perhaps they end the last character reveal with one of the newbies. And a tease for the final Boss who will be the unlockable 17th character.

They stated there won't be any unlockable characters in the base game, just the 16. If there's a 17th it would be DLC.

Maybe they won't have a boss at first. Maybe every character will tie into the story and the characters they add will expand on the story like episodes and seasons to keep people, that wouldn't otherwise stick with a fighting game, coming back.

So basically an unlockable character haha. Day 1 DLC with a low price threshold.
The point is that there won't be any unlockable characters along the lines of how Smash handles them. Though this is just my prediction, I don't think we'll see any DLC until at least a month after the game's release (mainly to give the general public time to get accustomed to the initial 16).

Spent about 4 hours with sf5 rashid build today. Played Birdie and Rashid if you guys want to ask questions.

Also asked Matt from Capcom: would you consider Alex and Urien "classic characters"? And he replied yes:p Take that as you will.

How do you feel about Birdie? I feel like he is too heavy on gimmicks.

Haha interesting.

Did you enjoy Rashid? What kind of playstyle does he have? Was he easy to pick up like Ryu? I'm pretty much set on maining Rashid so I'd like to hear your thoughts on him.
