Spent about 4 hours with sf5 rashid build today. Played Birdie and Rashid if you guys want to ask questions.

Also asked Matt from Capcom: would you consider Alex and Urien "classic characters"? And he replied yes:p Take that as you will.

How do you feel about Birdie? I feel like he is too heavy on gimmicks.

I felt my main damage with birdie came from the qcb kick leap grab.. I don't know how gimmicky it will be, but it shouldn't be hard to punish after a while.. Kind of like a ll meatsquasher from hugo. I did like st. Mp xx lk leap grab though!

His light spd has the same or less range than normal throw it seems.

His can now moves super slow, so you can easily use it as a safety net for his tackles (will come behind you and interupt punishes)

His charde dp/head butt can now be charged with all buttons.. This made it hard to charge a chain and then cancel it, because you would get the headbutt after releasing the kick button.

With v-trigger birdie seems very good.

My main problem is that i was not in range for a 2 lights on to special most of the times o tried.. I feel he mostly going to get his damage from pokes, leap grabs and punishes.

I consider Dan a classic character.

He'll take Joke Characters to a brand new level in SF5.

You could always charge the dp-headbutt with any P button. Or do you mean you can use K buttons now, too?

Dan and Sakura are definitely classic characters, by anyone's standard

But are they characters he'd expect to see in a Street Fighter game? Capcom back peddled on the classic thing.

Haha interesting.

Did you enjoy Rashid? What kind of playstyle does he have? Was he easy to pick up like Ryu? I'm pretty much set on maining Rashid so I'd like to hear your thoughts on him.

Rashid is pretty easy to pick up, but agsinst chsracters with great normals (eg. mika and nash) he had prett bad range to compete with his own normals.

How I think he should be played:
-zone with qcf+kick hurricanes
-poke from far with well spaced qcb+kick/run+kick for his fly kick, so that it hits late and leaves you pretty safe
-Use momentum to start frame traps:qcf+lp seems plus on block, and he can then use st. Mp or st. Mk to frame trap and get combo from counterhits (st.mp/st.mk to c. Mk xx qcf+lp) or he can use b. Hp which seems to be a fast slash that is safe and is a crush counter)
-qcf+PP = ex dp with invincibility

Interesting stuff:
-all qcf punches are mashable on hit and block (except ex which is only on hit) - this will extend the amount of hits and distance greatly. Rashid can do horizontal slashes for half the screen (but pubishable on block if mashed) - in the corner a mp slash will bring you over the opponent and to the opposite side of the screen.
-his vtrigger affects all moves that is done through it: roll goes full screen in a flash and so does the flip vskill. Another projectile can not be thrown.
-link:c. Hp(2hits),st.mp xx qcf+lp mash

This is what I thought would happen. Hope it pans out in the final version :D

HIs vtrig sounds pretty dope!

Thanks! All that sounds pretty awesome. I can't wait to see all the neat tricks people come up with his V-trigger.

I fucking knew it. Green is mainline SF, Gief and Sim fans BTFO

so what are we thinking for character adjustments and v-skills and shit? there's no way those two are getting in intact.

I feel like Alex is going to be revamped into more of a pure grappler. At the very least he's going to play more like his Tatsunoko vs Capcom variation than he did in SF3.

How are his air normals. Are there any that change his in-air momentum?

With some people pointing out that cammy, vega and bison were introduced in different iterations of the game I had to check if that kept up with Alex and urien and that stays true since Alex was in New generation and urien came in on 2nd impact. I also saw that Alex urien were in capcom fighting evolution (yun being on that list as well of sf3 representatives) which seemed very interesting to me since those are one of the characters to be crossed over before any other sf3 character before 4. Not trying to say anything, just found it to be interesting.

None of his air normals seemed to change momentum no:( And I would say they were pretty underwhelming, except that mk was a pretty good cross up..

His roll in to kick and his flip in to kick (Both v-skills) Seemed pretty bad tbh.. both unsafe and the roll wasn't great at getting through fireballs! I liked to do the roll in to grab instead

Will test air normals better tomorrow!

Ayy lmao

Of all the combinations of characters in TvC I used, I don't think I've ever used Alex and Zero together. Interesting.

Well there it is.

  • Green Section (8) = Characters From Numbered Street Fighter Games (Sans SFI)
  • Blue Section (4) = Characters From the Street Fighter Alpha Games
  • Purple Section (4) = Newcomers
Called it

Fixed that for you =(

I still want another odd ball move from Ono, just so we are all wrong.

Also, the timing of the announcements seems a little too fast. Maybe they will start talking DLC characters faster than I thought.

lol chill bruh, wait until they're actually revealed. And a lot of people went with that, Nostradamus.

I still think Gief and Sim are the remaining two
