Government finds new emails Clinton did not hand over

I love how conservatives repulicans are clinging on to this "controversy." Making it a big deal when there isn't any. Its so god damn delicious

They know that if this is an election based on actual issues, they lose. So you've chosen a good word for this: "clinging" - as in "desperately clinging."

If it had not been this, it would've been something else.

While I agree it's dumb that she bothered hiding any emails in the first place, unless there's actual scandal-worthy material in these emails I don't see why I should care about this.

Non-news until they actually find an incriminating email, like this entire email 'scandal' has been from the start.

If they find an email with clear proof of wrongdoing, sure, go to town on her. But this 'wink-wink-nudge-nudge we don't have a smoking gun yet but there totally is one' stuff is just annoying to read when it comes up twice a week with no sign of said material.

I knew Bernie was behind this.

To anyone saying the average American doesn't care about this, have you actually looked at Clinton's poll numbers recently? They've plummeted from earlier this summer because people don't trust her, and this email issue is a big reason why.

And you guys are probably right that democrats won't vote republican because of this. But independents could, and they have the numbers to swing elections.

Imagine if the country went after Bush and Cheney and co. as hard as they're going after Clinton for these emails. Maybe we would have gotten some justice for the billions lost and thousands of American lives (and hundred thousand+ Iraqi lives) that were lost over bullshit lies.

Chris Calizza : But, I would ask you to think of this: If this controversy -- with the exact same circumstances -- was centered on a former Republican secretary of state who was the frontrunner for the GOP's nod, would you still think it was unfair?

.

The thing that bothers me is just the arrogance in with see handled the who email situation in interviews and such. The main email thing, might have not made many blink if she would have handled it better off the bat.

I only meant it was kinda similar in some ways. Not a direct comparison. Anyway Bob Woodward said it better.

Bob Woodward: Clinton emails remind me of Nixon tapes

http://youtu.be/jRO3Q1rLfbI

Hilary's emails are nothing like the Nixon tapes. In content, significance, purpose, or origin.

Nixon was recording himself because he thought they'd make for good historical documents to refer in the future (and boy were they!). Hilary is sending and receiving emails on a private server because that's just what secretaries did until John Kerry came in and it became law to use the govt account.

It blows my mind to see people act as if this kind of stuff doesnt matter to a campaigning politician.

No, Clinton's email scandal, or whatever you call it, will not push many Democrats to voting for a Republican candidate.

But it can sufficiently disengage otherwise Democratic voters from participating.

That's the problem.

It seems like accusations of classified material being exchanged is hyperbole. However my problem with this is that it's another example of Clinton being untruthful. Yea it's "only 10 emails" but you'd think that someone would be more honest while being investigated by the FBI and running for president.

These petty things add up, which is why the Clintons get in trouble. It's clear she simply didn't give a fuck about rules. She clearly didn't think this would impact her inevitable run for president either. And now her campaign is damaged for good due to the drip drip this type of story can have for months/a year.

This is why Biden is thinking about running. If Hillary becomes completely damaged goods it'll be essential that democrats have an establishment candidate to replace her.

Her numbers have dropped because of countless negative headlines regarding this issue. Nobody actually gives a fuck about this, as soon as it is no longer in the headlines, her numbers will improve.

God dammit Hillary. You make it so hard to want to support you.

And yet the guy who took America to war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, based on lies and propaganda, which cost trillions of dollars of tax payer money, led to the loss of thousands of innocent American and Iraqi lives, and destabilised an entire region, somehow goes on unflinched? I mean, is mass murder perpetuated through an illegal war really less of a scandal than adultery?

In America? Yes.

Now if Bush had fucked Saddam Hussein...

Republicans are going to waste so much time looking for their aha moment when they should be focusing on actual issues of substance (moderate) Americans might actually care about.

They did/do exactly the same with Obama, with wild conspiracies and hyperbolic statements when they could be raising and hammering on legitimate issues like drone strikes and NSA survelliance.

In the end, they will have wasted the time and opportunity. Again.

The laws need to change so that all government business must flow through government maintained email servers for foia request.

There is no reason politicians need to keep their emails on private servers that they maintain.

This won't turn a single democrat away to vote republican.

This Personally I wouldn't vote republican if they had a gun to my head (bunch of nut jobs).

I like Sanders though but I would vote for Clinton if I have to. I don't care about this email thing at all have they found anything she did wrong in these emails?

She wasn't untruthful, as others have said in this very thread. You can only say she was being untruthful if you ignore half of what she actually said. Makes for a nicer quote, but isn't actually true...

Considering how much conservative outlets in America have been this email shit up, I doubt that very much.

For her own good, Hillary better not take success for granted. That's how America got a Kenyan Muslim for prez.

Oh no the conservatives won't vote for her! Spin, Repubs, Spin. Waste your energies on nothing, while the election runs off without you again.

BENGHAZI!!!

Saw the comments on Fox News FB: "Hilary for prison 2016!"

Lol the gop candidate in the debates is just going to keep saying emails and benghazi

There are so many things to go after Hilary on and yet people are focusing on the most inconsequential crap

I'll never forget the smug look on Romney's face after he delivered the first speech about Bengahzi. He really thought he had something. Republicans clinged to that for years. They'll do the same thing with this.

Reminds me of the republican "outrage" when Obama didn't wear a flag lapel pin or put his hand over his heart during the national anthem. Or the time he bowed to (forgot who). They get mad over the most inconsequential things ALL the time.

Unless there is incriminating information in the emails - especially the ones she botched and didn't submit - then there's no major issue here.

Of course, it might even be an issue for some even if there isn't a major uh oh that's revealed with these emails.

Chris Calizza : But, I would ask you to think of this: If this controversy -- with the exact same circumstances -- was centered on a former Republican secretary of state who was the frontrunner for the GOP's nod, would you still think it was unfair?

I can't believe the guy couldn't put in the effort to name the only two that are alive and under 80, Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell:

- the fact of the e-mails alone wouldn't be noteworthy to me if it was either of them,
- the fact that there was material in them that was later classified wouldn't be noteworthy either,
- the fact that the Secretary of State discussed classified material with another individual who had clearance for that level of information wouldn't matter,

only if the e-mails contained information that Rice or Powell deliberately deceived the public or the government to achieve political or personal goals, or showed an inability to perform their role as Secretary of State, would I consider it fair.

Did you really just compare this to Watergate.

Really.

That's how delusional these people are, and how badly they want this email stuff to be a big deal.

Dude compared it to fucking watergate..... jesus. Going to be some massive hurt feelings when this isnt so much as a speed bump for her winning the election. I can see the tears from here. "But.... the emails!"

The republican agenda at election time is always shit like this. They can't win on issues..

So we get joe the plumber! Swift boat!! Benghazi!! Emails!!! Service records etc.

The worst part is this shit works.

And considering the Iraq fuckery where they did willfully deceive the public and manipulate the government, I think we would've had a legitimate reason to make a big deal about it if we wanted.

Man, this is just pissing me off where we essentially left the entire Bush administration off the hook for so much legit criminal shit in order to appear "above it all" and "reaching across the aisle".

Republicans are hoping this works, because they sure as hell can't bank on their, uh, policies to win an election.
I am SO ready for the gaf reaction thread. Give me those delicious meltdowns.
Yeah, the future of our country being seriously jeopardized in addition to the many families that will be ripped apart is so worth some meltdowns on gaf.

This is why I'm still convinced that it was her own campaign that leaked the email thing in the first place.
