Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

What makes you say that? I don't watch much dhalsim let alone fight against him so wouldn't know it

Every character in this game is being designed with offense in mind, given low vitality and made easily dizzy. Dhalsim is a character who is supposed to have the latter two traits uniquely to justify him being a character that wins through keepaway. People are talking about how there's no playstyle diversity in this game, and it's totally on purpose.

Sim can play offensively too, just depends what tools they give to him & how good they are (slides, drills, throw-box range). His versatility is part of what him so good in his best appearances.

That's sounds super dumb to me, but I think acting out the ultra is hype as fuck

Juicebox levels of acting is pretty hype, but actually give a tip of the fedora slayed me

How are you going to have Sub-Zero without Scorpion?

Easy, like Mortal Kombat 3

So, it seems like a lot of people are convinced that Alex will be joining the cast. Personally, I think that is probably the case, but I also recognize that I really badly WANT him in, so that may be influencing my opinion on the matter.

Either way, one thing I think we can all agree on is that if Alex isn't at least strongly hinted at during the upcoming NYC event, then he probably isn't making the initial roster.

Unless Ono is considering that expectation and uses his knowledge to troll on an advanced level... but, he isn't that twisted, right?

*descends into paranoia and delusion*

Does SFV have charge partition?

It is very core to Urien, Alex and Remy should they get in.

Man, I can remember trying to master charge partitioning to use Urien... I won't lie, I could never get it down. I am sure some people think it is hilariously easy, but I think everyone can agree that it is a lot harder than something like an FADC combo...

I am sure you can see where I am going with this...

If the FADC is too difficult for SFV, which has been stated a bunch of times, then I can't see charge partitioning intentionally making its way into the game.

It seems more likely that, if Urien makes the cast (and I hope he does), that he will have his gameplay style altered to not include charge partitioning.

CFE lacked partitioning, and Urien still did okay with his moves copy-pasted. I think some are putting too much stock on how characters played in certain games; as if they'd be dropped in Mugen-style and not actually designed around the systems of the new game they‘re in.

Ah, I see. Didn't miss anything then. That's good, I guess. And yeah, I got banned for asking for the Nash comic scans.

Yeah these threads pretty much started to die down after that, you guys didn't miss much.

New stage tease by Ono. This might be what we're getting in Mexico on Friday. You can also see Mika in the background:

As the other guy said I'm pretty sure that's Sean.

I'm sure they'll do their best to preserve Urien's identity and style without esoteric mechanics like charge partitioning. That's been their MO thus far with new characters.

I'm excited for this stage

I'm excited to see Alex fight on this stage
It looks like an underground arena to me. (The chains, the balconies, etc.) It seems like there's a logo on the floor where Mika is standing.

A good stage concept for any professional fighters.

Why would anyone except the most diehard of fans want Sean in SF5? Racial diversity is about the only reason I can see for wanting him, but they'd need to drastically alter his moveset and appearance to avoid shoto clone syndrome and if you do that, why not just operate with complete freedom and make a new black character?

On that note it'd be hotttttt if Laura was a dark skinned multi-ethnic Brazilian with big brown curly locks. But pls god no soccer theme. And I say that as an ultra-dedicated soccer fan.

It could be Sean, but there's just not enough there for me to go "Yeah, that's definately Sean". Stage looks neat though. Definitely get an 'underground fight club' kind of vibe.

It's gonna feel like such a long wait for this game now. I finally got to play it at EGX and it's awesome. Got to play Rashid who's a lot of fun.

I can't make out much from that, some of you have a vivid imgination.

There are glass bottles on a table, that's kind of it. And even that tells me it's not a jail...

Look where the light is coming in from the ceiling, you can see two levels of balconies. Mika is standing in the middle of an open area with chains surrounding it, with what looks like a logo in the center of the floor. (Also note the floodlights pointed onto the center area.) The guy in the foreground is reclining on a table with some bottles on it, implying it's a club of some sort.

All this together adds up to an underground (most likely illegal) arena of some sort.
