I'm not expecting any surprises at this point, but it would be really nice if they did, say because of the leaks, switch around one of the previously intended launch characters for a ready-to-go DLC character and we got Necro instead of Alex for example.

I doubt it would happen, but I guess I'm just not that enthused about Alex, of all the leaked or assumed character reveals left, he's the bottom of my list.

I don't mind Vega, but him making the launch 16 roster just baffles me. There's like at least a dozen other characters I would've chosen before him. Just feels like he shouldn't be here yet.

I'm a little late to respond to all of your responses (thanks! all!, but this one I understand. I agree there could've been deeper cut or more interesting picks for the out-of-the-gate roster and leave Vega for later.

As for this new Ono pic, it's clearly part of a new Doctrine Dark costume. Right?

If it's Gief, I hope his Mecha alt is his default look in the game, and they tie it to story cannon somehow.

Zangief does work for the Russian government. Maybe they needed a bionic warrior, and Zangief donated his body to the cause? I mean, he wasn't in SFIII, so regardless of whether or not this is directly before or directly after, they can do whatever they want with him. Or really, anyone but Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, and Akuma. And even then, there's the implication that HOT RYU is story related...

Now that I think of it, could Necro have a legit chance at this? Maybe that golden stud thing is from an Effie redesign, her clothing always had plenty of studs like that, right?

That would... actually be a pretty cool surprise.

I doubt his chances are legit, but Necro's probably my 6th most wanted character after the Freddie Mercury trio, Elena, and Q. So I'd be all over this, honestly!

That said, the golden stud thing just screams "Gief" too much. As cool as it'd be, it just seems too Zangief-y to be a part of an Effie redesign, IMO.

Hm I'm starting to think that Ono really is just teasing more of the stage instead of a character. Maybe Gief is in the background or there's something that looks like his belt so Ono is using this opportunity to mess with people. Until I see another character getting attacked by something, I'm going to assume this isn't a character tease.

But anyway even if it is a playable character he could be anyone really, trying to decipher Ono's trolling seems pointless, he never gives enough clues so that we are able to figure something out. The can from birdie was after the leak wasn't it?
