That's so stupid though. You're more excited by an existing template than an open canvas?
Because none of us have any prior investments in these new characters. Also based off the other two new comers I don't have much hope.
You can argue it all you want, but people are always more hyped about seeing returning characters than the new ones.
I think the worst part of this announcement is how many people are whining that they hate SF3.

I'm not saying I don't want new chars. Hell I'd love if all the cast was new. Just prior to actually seeing/playing them I can't get excited about them.

Akuma and Sakura don't get brought up enough in these conversations. They're pretty popular folks, and could be selling points for the game for a lot of people.
I know most likely Sim is the last classic character, but any of Akuma, Sakura, Guile, Sagat or even Boxer wouldn't surprise me. Me personally, I wish it was Cody, the true street fighter character.

Story being a focus doesn't mean every character needs to be playable.
It's just crazy how people can jump to conclusions with LITERALLY ZERO INFORMATION ABOUT THE STORY MODE.

Bro I have always suspected from day one that there is no story in sfv. Also I believe the episode before last one ultrachen was saying that with how much effort*,emphasis capcom putting into esports and capcom fighting network they highly doubt there is going be any story mode like mk in sfv. And I agree with them.

Hahaha, you got me! Smash Hype is pretty different, comparing to Street Fighter Hype.
We don't really get hype for newcomers because we literally don't know who they are in Street Fighter universe unless they decided to use characters from comic book and games (like Final Fight). That's why I found it easier to support veterans for the game, and I got several characters that I really wanted to see to make in the game. There is a character that I'm not optimistic about is Hakan.
For Smash, they had shitload of choices for newcomers where they could chose from any Nintendo games (along with third party characters). There are too many potential newcomers that would able to become playable characters so it's hard to tell if the characters that I supported would make in the game or not. It really worked out for me!
Duck Hunt, Little Mac, Mega Man, Pac Man, Palutena, Dark Pit, Bowser Jr, etc. I found it very interesting veterans really have high chances to come back in Smash Bros Franchise, compare to Street Fighter.

3S Alex is the reason some want him in SF5.
Consider Birdie and R. Mika; in A2 and A3 they weren't among the better characters in the game, but in SF5 they managed to make them much more interesting and fun to play.
Ergo, it can apply to Alex and that's why I want him in SF5.
as much as i wanted Alex, they actually did make Gief more interesting. he's got some great new options, and i'm sure they'll revisit the animations to that... lackluster CA.
Yeah it's easy to talk shit when you're favourite character is from SF2.
