I'm talking in general and I wouldn't say it's been a high number of people at all.
Most of the girls have a good shot long-term, there's less of them and they're more popular on average than the guys.

I don't get where this "no one talked about Alex until Gief was announced" thing came from because it's clearly false if you are involved in this discussion even a little bit.
Obviously with Gief's announcement Alex is going to be talked about even more since Gief basically wrecks the leak list with Alex on it, so all the fans are going to be salty AF, but it didn't come out of nowhere, he was highly speculated to be revealed at some point, most notably NYCC.

Yes and I thought that leaked list was correct, I also didn't have an issue with it. I am still hoping Alex gets in.

I love the 3S characters but let's be real here, only reason Alex has been a prominent part of this discussion is because people were basically counting on him being in.

That being said, who are we expecting for NYCC? Dhalsim? Guile? Either way, Zangief probably should have been revealed sooner with Rainbow Mika being revealed now to minimize disappointment. Poor scheduling on Capcom's part, if you ask me.

It is definitely the only reason he was talked about so much throughout all this, but c'mom now. Alex was talked about just as much as aby character.

No, Alex has been in demand for years. In multiple polls, he's performed well. He's already shown up in multiple games post 3S.
Alex is a popular SF character, and Capcom knows it.
People have wanted Alex ever since SFV was announced, what are you talking about? You're doing the same thing I said he did, lol. You're happy you got your guy and you don't understand why others are unhappy they don't have theirs.
Also, even if a character wasn't popular in a previous SF, that doesn't directly result in the public not wanting to see them in a new game (see Mika, nobody and I mean nobody used her in SFA because she sucked). This doesn't really apply to Alex since he was fairly popular among the SF3 base, but someone doesn't have to be near and dear to fans' hearts for years to become popular or seem like a good fit in a brand new game. Karin fits that example, as well. Her popularity definitely spiked (in the US at least) this year. And as someone who didn't really care about her in SFA, I'm glad she made it in over, like, Balrog or Zangief, err, I mean Dhalsim. Wait, I mean Blanka.

I disagree, since he wasn't in SF4 I was expecting him to make a return by now. He's not like Twelve who is basically a longshot to ever see the light of day again. There is also the fact that story-wise, this seems like a direct prequel to SF3, which only reinforced my belief.
Not like it matters anymore, though. He's clearly not in, BUT! He's definitely finished DLC already, tho.

I legit haven't cared about any announcement since her trailer dropped and all of this is kind of just like extra sprinkles on a giant cake that already has icing on it.
I'm not guessing anything anymore, we don't really have much to go off of anymore other than random guessing. Just sit back and wait and hope it's not disappointing.
To be fair, another SFII reveal would entail a little bit of disappointment, especially this late in the game. Hopefully Ono has something up his sleeve, more so since I gravely underestimated his randomness.

I mean, you don't have to like them, and they're admittedly a different flavor than SF2/Alpha characters, but they have fans. I don't see why it's absurd or questionable for people to be clamoring for their inclusion. like, if you're calling out the necro contingent or something, yeah, that's a joke, but Alex and Urien don't feel like silly demands

With R. Mika in, Zangief makes sense from a rival and story standpoint, maybe that justifies Guile and Sakura to be included right away as well?
Sad thing is that you aren't exactly wrong. A Dhalsim reveal would likely be met with just a golf clap. Hopefully they at least reveal Zen at NYCC & save Dhalsim for a random time in November if he's in the game.

If we go by the latest poll he's in the middle of the pack, even below stuff like Claw and Gief. He's been in two games no one really played post 3S.
I mean, I won't deny that there's a clear demand for the character or that he's long overdue a new playable appearance, but I think you guys are overestimating how popular he actually is.

Not if he looks and play rad. I think people respond will if a character looks fun to play, and is unique compared to the rest of the cast. Sim fits both criteria imo.

I know about the pattern thing, lol, but I don't see Capcom revealing a non-American character at NYCC. They didn't show Gief in Russia and Rashid in Dubai on accident. I'm still hoping for Alex in NY and Urien as the boss character, though. Still would entail a playable roster of 16 and leave room for 2 new characters.
Also, Necro is pretty popular among SF3 players. Moreso than Hugo, I'd say.

We were all wrong, and Zen end sup being an American character, with his reveal showing off a part of the story where he kills off both Alex and Guile, but leaves Abel who is for some reason there.
This all due to personal feelings of said character. For example, I adore Alex's moveset, but Sim could have Alex's moveset and I'd still fucking hate him 'cause I can't stand Sim. Take Zangief for example, loads of people love the way he plays but loads of people are still unhyped as fuck that he's in. You can't say a certain character will be well recieved by everyone, even if he "looks fun to play". That logic makes no sense.
