It's funny how the guidebook dances around the twist, saying Kojima requested they don't divulge it, but then later on in the character profiles section, they talk about Liquid Ocelot and draw a parallel to the body double scheme with Venom, lol. I think that was an oversight on their part, since the book otherwise details everything -but- the twist.

The best part is that there's this big "Who Is Ishmael?" section, in which they explain that part about Kojima asking them to keep it a secret, but then they go into so much detail "guessing" who it could be that they basically flat-out say who it is.

All of that stuff was unnecessarily introduced by PW, which is kind of my point. MGS3's ending implied something completely different than what we were given in the sequels. The most powerful scene in the series (the teary salute) is cheapened with the introduction of the "BB didn't actually understand and it took him 10 years to finally realize he didn't agree with the Boss and so rejected her" storyline.

I don't know where you're getting the "he didnt understand" part from. the bits in peace walker where he said that stuff was direct lies to strangelove so she couldn't finish her ai. Alot of people completely misunderstand those scenes even though it's explained. I'm not sure what part you're actually complaining about, here.

|OT3| Less Infants Terribles

|OT3| Peace

Strangelove keeps taking that L even in death.
Brainwashed medic is a better man and father than OG Big Boss and he's healthier since he stayed away from the cigars.

Also in my headcanon V and Quiet were totes in luv.

What's this guide book I am reading about? What's all in it and can someone provide some juicy tidbits from it? Would be cool.
The official hardcover Piggyback guide, made with Kojima and Kojima Productions. It's one of the best guides I've ever seen. Not only is the gameplay coverage incredibly detailed, but it has nearly 40 pages of intricate story analysis. It covers every MGS game and every character, and it's followed by an extensive art gallery with notes from Kojima. I think it's a must-own if you like TPP or the world of MGS in general.

Cool. Does it go into details relating to the story as well?

I wish Mission 45 had ended with Quiet looking at Venom's bite and then saying, in sign language: "That's a pretty bad bite, I guess I have no choice but to suck it out." ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It even has a two-page summary on Ishmael. Also spends a LOT of pages on overall MGS timelines, explaining characters from previous games and their relations.

It really is an excellent strategy guide.

Yes, that's what I meant by "nearly 40 pages of intricate story analysis." It's very well-written and pulls together all of the key details from the cassettes, cutscenes, etc, for a tight read that really puts the story into perspective.

I honestly thought she was going to try and suck the venom out.

Oh, completely missed that bit.

Excellent. Must order this.

Seeing how Kojima handled everything else about her, there probably would've been a contrived explanation for how her parasites require her to extract the poison through his dick.

Maybe that's the point where one of Kojima's underlings finally did noclarkno.gif and they rewrote the scene.

So I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, but my friends and I had an epiphany talking about the ending and the game as a whole.

This twist was brilliant. I loved it. It literally put us the player in the role of Venom Snake. We put our names and faces into the character. We lived through the "psychotherapy" of getting Big Boss' memories through our play of MGS3, PW, etc. We know everything about him.

In the first mission after the prologue, Ocelot literally says something to you like "Go, become Big Boss." We ourselves get to become the legend.

At the end during Big Boss' tape to Venom, he says a speech that seems to be Kojima talking directly to the player.

I cheated death thanks to you. And thanks to you, I've left my mark. You have, too. You've written your own history. You're your own man. I'm Big Boss, and you are too. No, he's the two of us together.

Where we are, today? We built it. This story - this "legend" - it's ours. We can change the world, and with it, the future. I am you, and you are me. Carry that with you wherever you go. Thank you, my friend. From here on out... you're Big Boss.

It's a farewell speech thanking us for supporting the franchise, the character, etc. He couldn't have done it without us and Big Boss lives on forever, in the hearts and minds of fans.

I love this game and franchise. Not disappointed at all.

I thought I was being pretty clear, but the main thing I'm saying is that the entire idea of rejecting The Boss hurts the impact of Naked Snakes story and its implications. MGS3 ends with him doing the opposite of rejecting her, and having him take 10 years to decide to do a complete 180 on his mentor cheapens the ending of MGS3 for me.

Yep. Love the meta. Love Venom.

Huh, that -does- work out. Husbandos for all!

But the real deal is Quiet x The Ghost of Paz ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

A murderous psychopath with a deadly voice parasite or someone who likes to scratch her stomach until her guts start falling out...

Mmmmh. Tough choice.

Quiet's just jamming her arm in Paz's gaping stomach hole.

Just like my japanese animes

...I just realized I can't think of any other female characters in this game.

Kojima channeled all of his waifu power into two characters, and one of them is a figment of the imagination.

MID-POST EDIT: Oh, the sniper Skulls. They were female. I know because the camera showed me each set of boobs and their lingerie-clad butts.

EDIT: And Flaming Buffalo, one of my best soldiers.

T&A is king. We need a ten second tracking shot of a row of jiggling breasts.

Bald voluptuous albinos are my fetish

In all seriousness, I thought the sniper Skulls had cool designs. At least they balanced out the titillation with their otherworldly looks so it didn't feel completely fanservice-y. I know I keep mentioning the guide, but there's amazing artwork of them in the back. Full-page sniper Skull art. I can post a phone picture if it's allowed. Not sure if it'd be considered a "scan."

I don't have any particular feelings on the design, but I was serious that there is a six or so second shot only showing their butts.
