Had the makings of a decent show:
Ben and Kate
Trophy Wife
To me, these two were legit good, not just "had the makings".

Wasn't any good:
Free Agents
The Michael J. Fox Show
Selfie (get ready for actual barbarians entering thread just to remind me that Selfie gets better over its long and illustrious run and I'm just not able to handle how good it is)
I would put these three in the "had potential" category. Free Agents was a pretty watchable show in its original UK incarnation and the US remake had potential, both for cast and because of John Enbom. MJF Show had good cast and good pedigree in the writer's room but was obviously hamstrung by producers' (showrunner? MJF?) desire to turn the clock back in too many areas, leaving the show toothless even among network sitcoms. Selfie was ... good but ultimately had all the things I hated on Suburgatory turned up another notch.

Doesn't GAF have a "general Fall TV Impressions" thread or something of the like?

Anyways, through a mix of being "forced" to watch and/or wanting to watch these myself:

Minority Report: Two episodes in, and it's just yet another crime procedural, but they remove the blurry camera video from some dude's head instead of a gas station. No mas, won't be following. There's also a drinking game in here somewhere for how often they try to pull this really-cool-future-technology-thing-we-just-thought-of-look-how-clever-we-are thing. It got ridiculous at the selfie drone.

Scream Queens: Wow, does the humor fall flat. It's too much, too tongue-in-cheek, too silly to work. Out.

Rosewood: Well, I assumed the gimmick wasn't interesting enough to carry a show, and indeed it's not. The heart thing does nothing for it, and again, it's reduced to a crime procedural with a buddy.

That was a weak first three to start with. Let's see how other shows fare.

Ah, forgot one:

Quantico - My brain died somewhere during the 5 minutes of dialogue with awkward exposition. Sorry, I can't. Can't do this.

That's some incredible consistency. I haven't watched it but I know my sister and her family are loyal viewers.

I recently marathoned the whole thing. It's pretty good. Frankie gets on my nerves sometimes by being such an awful mother, but other than that it's great.

I saw the third episode of the Bastard Executioner for some reason and I don't get the show at all. The premise seems completely ridiculous, like what's the end game, where is this thing going. Plus the lead guy sucks. Not enjoying it so far.

Not finding SQ funny is such a foreign idea to me.

It's like the only funny show on broadcast now that The Following is cancelled.

someone told me that there will be more halting and/or catching fire next year. you heard it here first because i just mindlessly post anything i get in a text message without verifying it.

Rosewood doesn't have a gimmick (his heart thing is dumb anyway, he'll live as long as the show lives), it has Morris Chestnut being a super charming motherfucker. Also I guess minority led cast. Cop show is kinda safe but whatever. Banter is really enjoyable at least.

Exactly how I feel about it. It's completely vanilla and safe but the main dude is super charming. I didn't even think of the heart ad a "thing"

I was going to trot out the "USA cancels one of its fifteen identical shows" subtitles again but I was worried people might have a heart attack thinking Mr. Robot was gone.

HCF is secretly a prequel to Walking Dead.

Turn: Washington's Spies -> Hell on Wheels -> Mad Men -> Halt and Catch Fire -> Breaking Bad -> Rubicon -> The Killing -> Low Winter Sun -> Fear the Walking Dead -> The Walking Dead -> Into the Badlands

The AMC Cinematic Universe

Firewall and Iceberg ended with Alan saying Raylan's last line to Dan. RIP the only TV news podcast I listened to... now I'm homeless when it comes to TV news.

We should make our own poscast

I know The Player probably isn't going to last more than a season, but I'll be damned if it's not going to be one hell of a fun ride until it's cancelled. The action is stupid crazy entertaining.

Haven't the last 4 canceled USA shows (that lasted 1 season) been about a doctor in some form or another? It all blends together to me.

USA has cancelled Graceland.

+0.6

Yeesh.
I knew i made the right call ditching Graceland after Season 1.

Yeah, I kinda enjoy it, too, although there are moments that are pretty boring. It's a nice mini action movie to chill you out after the taut Blacklist.

Anyone who watched the S3 premiere of Sleepy Hollow, for an action-adventure show the main cast is 4/5 women this time around.

I never watched season 2 :/

So it was all Archie's fault and Julianna let rumors persist of her being an ice queen while Archie attempted to play the victim?

Julianna is truly a saint and I'm sorry to have ever believed that she could be so cold and calloused for seemingly no reason. This whole thing being Archie's fault fits the narrative so much better.

Thank you, I've been waiting for this news for months.

I'm with you I've been trying to start new TV podcasts recently so I can replace them and have started four and already quit three. I started the TV Talk machine, the Very Good TV Podcast, Extra Hot Great and The Vulture TV Podcast, I've quit the first three, all because of the critics having (in my opinion) bad taste, and in the case of the Extra Hot Great podcast the host was so reductionist about FX tv shows that I never wanted to listen to his opinions again.

The only one I have stuck with is The Vulture TV Podcast entirely because they have had some interesting conversations, it's short and pretty tame when it comes to opinions.

I listen to Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan which is ok but very irregular so that's no replacement.

I guess what I am trying to say is there is nothing out there like the Firewall and Iceberg podcast were I completely respect their opinions even if I sometimes disagree. I'll really miss it.

I watched the premiere and I'm not sure how I felt about it. I'll give it another episode or two, but I think I'm ready to drop it.
