What if ground zeroes is actually venom in a coma having his memories altered to believe it was him there.

That's basically how I decided to think about PW in light of MGSV. It's just Venom's inaccurate version of what he thinks happened to BB during Peacewalker, so in my mind he just made up the garbage about rejecting The Boss as a way to give himself some motivations.

Though in the end, I think I'm just going to view both PW and MGSV as some kind of spin off/alternate timeline thing. Kojima clearly doesn't care about his canon, so why should I? MGS3/4 is where it ends in my head.

The medic was just kiefer's voice but altered so you can just say it was magic hypnosis BS that made it sound exactly like Boss.

People have to remember that Venom looked/sounded exactly like BB to us but it seems that was more for the player (like I'm playing Big Boss so he should look and sound what I expect from him).

Within the game world however that is not the case, there are various instances when Venom isn't recognized as Big Boss.

For example, when you meet Huey for the first time. He just stands there looking at Venom and asking if he was really Snake, until Venom puts a bag over his head.

The Boss's AI also didn't recognize him, even though it recognized BB well enough in Peace Walker and even asked if he lost weight.

If they didn't do that then the twist wouldn't have worked, just like it didn't work with Solidus in MGS2 because he got his own VA in English. In the Japanese version he was voiced by Solid Snake's VA so that story point worked better.

Konami convinced them to not make it 5. Since they wanted the "canon" of the story to remain on console. Kojima has stated several times tho, that MGS PW is MGS5.

Someone correct me if i am wrong.

This is correct. He has also said that MGSV is MGS Vee not 5.

Did he say this recently or before the game was released?

Yeah and that "V" was supposed to mean victory; as in victory over all the other developers around the world, showing the new prowess of Japanese games. What a total letdown.

A buddy of mine texted me "Ishmael is Big Boss." before I managed to finish chapter 2. Lol. Luckily it was obvious to me we weren't playing the real Big Boss but man was that a shitty confirmation.

Do you get the impression that maybe Venom was actually going to shoot those kids, and not that bucket in the scene originally? Like that was the taboo Kojima was talking about?

But they couldn't have gone with that for one important reason, other than the controversy.

If Venom killed those kids, he wouldn't have had a reason to not just shoot Eli in the face immediately.

While the twist was obvious, your "buddy" is a huge arsehole.

Cut all contact with said person. Go to his place and slap him around a bit too.

Konami is going to make Next Metal Gear into MGS6 and that will be it, V will be 5.

Did you remember to self hypnotize to forget this revelation?

It's what Ocelot would have wanted.

Even if MGSV isn't MGS5 Peace Walker was, so yeah, next MG will be either

A) Not a Solid game

B) 6

C) Metal Gear 1/2 remake

I would be open to playing a game as The Boss. She is a pretty badass character.

If not that... a remake would be cool. MG1 and 2 with Fox Engine and current pipeline. why not.

I'd rather The Boss not get ruined like Big Boss did. Maybe a Liquid game could work in Iraq and he meets the real big boss. But I would prefer remakes.

What, you don't want to see how The Boss actually got her ideology from her mentor The Subordinate whom she had to tragically kill as part of her mission?

At this point... you think the game could be worse? Someone else coming to pick up mgs might be a good thing.

OR... maybe they should just leave the game for what it was. Still sad about Silent HIlls. That is the true loss here.

Paz Chico, the MGS Pachinko machine.

Two phantoms were born.

I love MGS3, I'm just poking fun :P
It's all good, but still...

The Boss...

BIG Boss. lol
Real talk, the Boss is a terrible character.

The best female character in gaming, easily.

If she's a terrible character, but the best female character in gaming, then I'm a REALLY sad puppy. :(
The Boss isn't a terrible character. It's terrible that Kojima made her the center of the Metal Gear universe.
I do like this, though. She's Zero's & Big Boss' PHANTOM.

Real talk, the Boss is a terrible character.

My issue with The Boss is how they made her too perfect.

It was already kind of annoying in MGS3, but then Peace Walker and all its tapes about her truly put her in a gigantic pedestal, goddess-style. Pure virtue, intelligence, courage. She could do no wrong, and when she "did", it was all an elaborate ruse.

Even then, I don't want anyone touching her story. Even if I found it to be annoying, it's better than have someone, Kojima or anyone else, make a prequel about her.

I understand Big Boss' downfall after killing the boss but having her be the reason the Illuminati exists is just dumb to me.

And Zero caring about the boss this deeply also came out of nowhere until 4 lol.

She wasn't perfect, her kid turned out to a be a real shit heel.

It still doesn't feel any more developed in Peace Walker or V, either, which is worse, I think.

TWO games in and the motivation still doesn't work.

Those tapes were more Strangelove gushing over her than anything else, I didn't really take them seriously (I don't take Peace Walker seriously in general).

The Boss, as she is in MGS3, is an extremely well done character and very badass.

Only because they took him away from her. If Ocelot was left in her care he would've turned into Jesus or something.

I disagree. The Boss in MGS3 was cool, no doubt, but she was bland in the sense that she has no arc (Since this game is basically the end of her story, but still...). She's strong, agile, charismatic, she can kick everybody's asses.

I liked her. But I cannot understand the cult some gamers have built around her. She's actually not very interesting.

Did anyone figure out the significance of Mantis as the third child? I was thinking it was the Sorrow as the first child, Ursula as the second and Mantis as the third. All physic children of Russia?

Most likely just a number assigned to him, showing that he wasn't the only child being studied.

Different strokes for different folks :p

Third child to be experimented on.

EDIT: OR not, judging by below. That's what I had assumed listening to the tapes before, but I guess not...

Since there's nothing official on this, my own headcanon is that Elisa and Ursula, even being the same physical person, are considered to be both the first and second child, due to the split personalities.

Different strokes for different folks :p

Oh, definitely. ;)

Anyway, after the depiction of the female characters in his last 3 games I'd highly, highly doubt that Kojima would be able willing to make a game about The Boss that's anything less than morally insulting.

The Boss is what happens when a writer falls madly in love with one of their characters.

But getting away from that, I love that the first time I pattern a create-a-character after myself he immediately gets massive full body reconstruction surgery.

I'm actually not worried about Kojima (Or anyone that takes charge) oversexualizing The Boss. It would be idiotic and unnecessary, sure, but what makes me truly afraid of her "background story" is that they might try to make her "legend" a fake now, just like Big Boss', Or they might try something idiotic like having her being the disciple of a WW1 legendary hero called "Magnus Boss" and she inherits the title after defeating him/her or something.

The Boss did look really cool when she was young, in the brief image we get of her.
