Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Ya this no export deal at launch plus the other stuff peeps mentioned are missing have me leaning towards cancelling and picking up later.

I can see how that would bother some ppl but to me that's tiny stuff that will be fixed in small patches. I just want to play all my DLC and play some Rockband again!

They weren't really delayed, because they were never promised for launch. In the run-up, they were always very cautious to say things like "You'll be able to redownload your tracks as they come available", and have been using language to suggest that the old songs wouldn't all be present at launch.

Of course, by not outright saying that, they led people on to think they would be there, creating this push-back when they failed to deliver on what people thought they had been promised.

It's the sort of thing that they needed to be more clear with, just for the sake of managing expectations. When the biggest selling point of this game has been 'use all your old songs/equipment!', even the potential inability to transfer over old songs on disc is a massive asterisk that needs to be put next to that statement.

Play with old instruments!*
Make a band, rock the world!**
Import your old songs!***
Tons of playing modes!****
The gig starts on 9th of October!******

* Well, not if you liked the keyboard, or if you used Singstar mics, or wired 360 instruments, or any Pro instruments.
** Well, make ONE character and rock the world with generic randoms.
*** Well, eventually. Most of them, anyway. At least half. Probably.
**** Well, if you didn't care for online, practice or an actual free play mode (?).
***** Well, the 16th to be precise. For now. No promises.

It's getting harder and harder to justify keeping that €310 preorder for the band-in-a-box.

Changed my pre-order from Amazon to Best Buy (in-store with GCU) today. The missing stuff is kind of bumming me out, but I probably won't even have an X1 this month as I assume the really good deals on the console will be hitting next month.

Despite the lack of some of the legacy features, I'm glad to support HMX making this game. It's super surprising they're even able to do something like this after the music game fad wore off terribly last gen and since they are self-publishing*. Good luck!

At the same time it had be a herculean task to get old instruments working on current gen and to transfer all the old exports and DLC.

Bringing the franchise to current gen workout doing that stuff works have been suicide, but I appreciate what they've done so far and I hope they can make more improvements. I'm just happy that Rock Bandis back and most/all of my DLC will be available soon. And I really needed new instruments.

Especially for people switching platforms. A lot of people bought blitz and the rb1 export (and tracked down a rb2 code) because it was an easy way to get a large amount of songs. That's what I did and now about half of my library won't be there at launch.

Add the Nintendo snub to star number 3.

It's a bit disheartening either way. I'm not switching platforms since I own a PS4 and XB1 and it stings a bit that my RB1 and RB2 songs won't be there at launch. I've been able to download a bit of my old purchased DLC, but I'm going to still have a lot fewer songs at launch than expected. I do want to support HMX though in hopes that support will make make RB4 a viable platform long term and I know over time I'll end up buying a good amount of additional DLC.

You can call it a snub, but they really had no choice. There is no unified account system so moving DLC forward would have been impossible, and releasing something this risky on a platform with an install base so insignificant would have been suicide.

Eh, I don't think that would've been as difficult as you're making it seem. The technology is there. Nintendo uses it to apply discounts to Wii U VC titles you've already bought on the Wii.

EDIT: But for a budget-strapped title, obviously making a Wii U build would be a mistake. I'm not questioning that.

Whoops, thought I had quoted some stuff.

The lack of exports at launch and not being able to customize the entire band, I mean, one of my favourite things to do was to recreate my friends who I play in a band with.

Then there's the export issues, not available by launch? Well then, I can wait until mid-2016 to see if your shit is sorted out, HMX, and it hurts to say this, since I'm a RB fanboy, but I'm out at the moment.

I still have time to cancel. I mean, this kind of stuff is just stupid.

Rock the World with Weird Ass Characters you didn't Create!!

It sucks that it effects you that much that you can't enjoy the game. I'd bet money it will be there eventually, probably in an update that improves character creation. They are pushing Rock Band 4 as a platform, its games-as-a-service by a company that has done DLC well so I trust em. I mean this is a company that is doing their best to make sure DLC I bought 6-7 years ago is gonna work on a console that did not exist at the time.

I had no idea character creation was so important to some people. I'm definitely not trying to downplay it's importance for those that care about it, but I am definitely surprised.

I'm not upset at all about the exports. They've said they will be available at some point, and I'll already have a ton of DLC and the new songs to keep me busy for a long time.

I've been able to download everything I've been able to find except delisted songs and songs from Rock Band Blitz, Metal Track Pack, Ozzy 8-Pack, 2112, and the Doors pack.

EDIT: Actually, Little Wing isn't working for me. That's probably my favorite Hendrix song, too.

HMX just said through their Facebook that RBN songs wont make it into RB4

Ontop release date has been pushed to the 9th and 16th where i live :/

Sucks big time

So is there no easy way for me to download previous DLC on Xbox One? I just have to cycle through the endless list of shit and pick and choose what I have?

It's not one thing, it's not even two things, but it's a combination of lots of thing going missing. I'm sure RB4 will still be a good game, but RB3 is an excellent game with tons of more features, and my PS3 still works (not to mention the MIDI keyboard I bought).

I pre-order digitally and if i were to cancel, I would just get that back in xbox credit. What else am I suppose to get with that? Guess I am stuck with this even with my hype deflated.

Somebody defend no making setlists in Quickplay. Go on.

If this is at all in response to my post, I'm definitely not defending these choices. I'm just expressing my surprise.

However, I'm also of the opinion that Harmonix's basically-indie status also requires some leniency for the launch. If these issues never get fixed/added, then I can understand the frustration, but for now, they needed to launch to begin bringing in money. That is, of course, just my opinion. I'm just ecstatic that they were able to bring all previous DLC over, as I truly never though that would happen due to the enormity of the task.

So, downloaded over 1000 songs manually using the kinect to voice search (Actually REALLY useful!) These are the songs that I spotted that were a bit dodgy...

For a $60 title, and with people spending $250 for bundles, the cost of new consoles, can it really be called budget?

God, people are downloading hundreds of songs manually? I hope HMX has an easier solution than finding every single song... hell, I Don't even know what songs I own.

Damn, so annoyed that I can't get my hands on a 360. I gave an old one to my nephew and I saw the kid just smashing my 60$ controller into the walls when he lost a game of CoD against the CPU. I'll see if he still has it, but I'm expecting the damn thing to be smashed into pieces by now).

I still hope that RB4 Music Store carries some Redeem Code function where I could magically use my RB2 code. Since they need that to be available for RB3 if it ever does happen. Yeah, being hopeful. Probably not happening. Sigh.

Looks like searching for "Rock Band" on XB1 gives a finite number of results. You can search for specific artists, like No Doubt and get results that you don't when searching for Rock Band. I think all available DLC is up, but you might need to search for some of it specifically (exports aside, of course :( ) Kind of annoying.

C'Mon C'Mon by the Von Bondies is missing. Outrageous.

But really, with Amazon estimating my delivery as the middle of November, I seriously might just cancel. The game seems really incomplete anyway.

Huh, so some songs you can only find via search right now? Wonder when they'll update the database. I just spent 2 hours downloading songs.

Is there a way to view your DLC if you don't own the game? Don't see any place to look at my already downloaded songs D:

Welcome to my personal hell. Many years back when my PS3 hard drive crapped out I had to do this. For all my GH, RB and Singstar songs.

I believe they said it will be invisible until the game is out.

I'm not going through all that for my DLC. I just went through the listed songs once and picked up what I remembered having. I'm expecting the actual RB4 store to be more convenient.

You can however access your bought add-ons through Xbox.com, for 360, and print that to use it as a guideline what to search for I guess. But I think I got most of my stuff by now.

From what I can see on XB1 you can't even delete the DLC until you have the game installed. Once it's released we should get an install all button, but we will have to download one by one for now...

That only thing getting me through this is knowing that Guitar Hero will be crap and at least I didn't WASTE MONEY ON THAT!!

You play it yet? There's tons of reasons to be excited for both titles. After playing, I'm a firm believer that GHL and RB4 can coexist.

Did Rock Band 4 get an early release? My Costco has the band in a box bundle on the sales floor. What's going on here?

If this is true and the Costco near me has it out, I'm cancelling my order and going to buy tonight.

I have a dream. A dream where the Rock Band 4 ingame store has a history of all the DLC I bought, all the Exports I've done and all the free bonus songs I got. I have a dream that I can easily download all of them by either picking individual songs or packs. I hope that dream comes true. Because I really don't want to fucking sit in front of the Xbone for hours clicking on thousands of items!

Just got this from Shopto

Really hope that Amazon doesn't fuck me like they did with my rb3 keyboard preorder. Day before release it suddenly went from release day delivery to mid November.
