How would wired PS2 instruments work though? You could just get a USB to PS2 controller adapter and it should work? I'm guessing nobody's tested this yet and you don't know but I'm asking anyway!

Functionality is identical though, of course, but the new instruments actually have firmware that can be updated.
Unfortunately, keyboard support has been dropped.

Here's everything I picked up. During the various phases of me choosing, I remembered that it's better for me to cherry pick stuff from albums and packs than to buy it all usually. Just seems more cost effective, especially when most usually only play a few songs from an album anyways. With the money saved, you can get a bunch of different artists for more variety, too.
Boston and a few others are an exception to the rule, though. Those are great all the way through both from a listening and playing perspective.

Yeah, I linked this yesterday. Smooth Criminal, Don't Stop Believing (which shot up to #1 on the most popular Rock Band add-ons after the accidental relist), Sort Of, and Panic Switch are the only ones up.

USA PSN is a mess right now.
98% of the on sale single songs are back to $1.99. And those have updated DLC art. Many aren't. A lot of obscure bands and the cover songs still seem to be 99c right now.
On the PSN, a lot of songs are now tagged PS3/PS4, showing they can be downloaded on the PS4 now. If you've bought them they might show as free... Probably best to wait a few days before jumping in.
HOWEVER I have found a few glitches. Some things are priced at $1.99 incorrectly. Probably should get these while you can:
Dr. Feelgood album (Accidentally priced the same as the song)

See, everyone up until now has said that freestyle solos sound awful, but I've always stood by the idea that if somebody actually played along to what the solo was recommending it would sound cool. And it totally did.

It helps when the actual solos are shredding nonsense so it doesn't sound particularly out of place.
Yeah I was curious about how they were going to handle DLC and it seems like what they did (at least on the PSN store) was delist all the songs they've made available and then relisted those songs as PS3/PS4 DLC instead of having separate PS3 and PS4 DLC listings. In the long run that is obviously the best route to take but that just means, in the present, there is going to be some really messed up listings as they sort out thousands of the DLC they have available.

Looks like this US price rise is permanent then? Sucks for those that thought they had until Friday to buy legacy DLC at the sale prices. Really don't know what to do here. Have a £35 PSN card in the post and they haven't switched the DLC over in the UK yet but worrying it could happen at any moment. There's still about 28 old songs I still want to grab while they're 69p but I know waiting till the card arrives is a gamble!

That's a nice touch. It was always cool when the crowd held up lighters back in the Guitar Hero days. Phones + Sing-a-long is even better.

This might be a stupid question, but is the same USB dongle used to connect the wireless instruments on PS3 needed for the last gen peripherals to connect to the PS4 version? I dug up all my Rock Band stuff with much effort and realized that's the only thing I'm missing :/
yeah you are going to need them. The wireless PS2/PS3 instruments used RF technology from what I remember.

I'm picking this up at this point because I bought dlc for songs I want to play and haven't played one of these since Guitar Hero 4 but what are the new features compared to the older games? Don't actually know much about the game I'm picking up, lol.
That feature it would seem did not make the cut.
Yeah me too (I even appeared in two or three Dogmatic videos), but they kinda came after Npaean. His channel got shut down very early I think.

The "(RB3 Version)" descriptions are gone. Presumably the pre- and post-RB3 versions of the same songs are the same.
