If you have Tales of Zestiria pre-ordered, Symphonia is now in your library:

Do you guys expect the PC version to be on par or better than the ps4 version?

If you are talking about Zestiria, Namco said it runs at 30fps like the PS4 version, but supports higher resolutions (up to 4k I think).

If you are talking about Symphonia, we don't know much, it seems to run at 30fps like the PS3 version, and nobody knows what resolutions it supports.

Zesteria, just don't want to get the PC version over PS4 and then have it be a sloppy port.

Anyone know if the bonus applies to preorders on other sites? For example, GMG has 23% off so I'd rather buy it there instead of from Steam.

The steam pages clearly states that

***Tales of Symphonia will be added to your Steam library automatically once available on Steam.
****Only purchases of Tales of Zestiria on Steam count towards the Pre-Purchase Rewards.

The Steam page states that "****Only purchases of Tales of Zestiria on Steam count towards the Pre-Purchase Rewards.". So it's unlikely.

Cheapest way you can get it is find someone from Norway or Canada to buy it for you.

Okay, so it's fine because it doesn't have the superfluous items that you'd lose by picking one preorder bonus over another, and it doesn't have the option of arriving a few days earlier (also kind of a "nothing" bonus.).

Instead, it has two tiers of completely non-essential costume DLC and a free game. So because you don't lose anything, people are totally fine with it.

Preorder incentives have gotten to the point where people think this shit is acceptable, and y'all just lap it up.
The way I see it, the Zestiria pre-orders rewards are not a problem because they're content that will be available some other way after release (paid DLC, Symphonia will be released separately as well), in my opinion pre-orders rewards are a problem when they include exclusive content.

Well that was quick. I always expected it to be reached, but I thought it would be in the final push on the day before release, not more than one week out!

Wait so the Steam version comes out later than the PS4 version after all? Not that I would mind but Amazon lists the PS4 version for the 16th o.o

And gratz to everyone for reaching 100% :D

The Steam version releases worldwide on the same day as the PS version in the US, which is the 20th. The EU PS version is slightly earlier for some reason.

Namco likes to give regions priority on launches if they feel like it needs a boost there. Hence why Dark Souls 3 is getting Japanese priority this time.

Doesn't happen in America since we tend to get games the cheapest so to reduce the "reverse import".

oh this isnt out on PS4 (in the west)? I thought it was the usual late port but it seems its launching alongside PS4? cool

Why would anyone? It's basically nothing like that.. You don't get to unlock the game early and neither you have to pick and choose between different bonuses in a way that you would be always missing out on something.

Coupled with the fact that 1) The bonuses with this system are usually better than regular preorder bonuses and 2) that the vast majority of them unlocks just fine, seems a pretty good system to me.

Because it's not the same thing, like at all?

Getting a $20 game for free and not having to miss out on bonuses sight unseen no matter what I choose? Yeah. Completely fucking same right there.

I think you people saying it's similar to the Deus Ex thing need to explain exactly what you mean, because it's kind of baffling.

Yall are being a bit defensive. I wasn't trying to make a point when I asked why it hadn't been brought up. I know that Steam users are a bit used to it, but while the final tier of the Deus Ex pre-order stuff had the biggest outcry, there were definitely people upset (including press) about how the system works by you as the consumer being used as marketing to drive up pre-orders. I expected some of that would carry over into this thread.

I love the Tales series. I wasn't trying to say anything about the game or you guys for preordering. Getting Symphonia for free is great. Almost as good as getting Vesperia for free.

Hmm I see, interesting, that might push me towards the PS4 release for my initial purchase along with local multiplayer before I eventually double-dip.

Oh I know that much but I can't stuff a full tower case into my bagpack, a PS4 is another story though...

Word of warning, multiplayer is almost unplayable in Zestiria. The camera (which is already bad with just one player) goes totally bonkers. You caaaan adjust and sort of work around it eventually but you'll need a really patient friend. It might be a little easier now that there's no need for them to deal with moon language though :p.

God dammit now I'm so conflicted. I don't want to encourage 30fps. But a Tales game on PC? I want to encourage that. And Tales of Symphonia only sweetens the deal.

You're not really encouraging anything here. The developers had to make the game 30 FPS because of hardware limitations of the PS3 and probably shitty development choices. They also basically built the entire game around 30 FPS (Thinking they wouldn't have to port it anywhere else..for some reason), so just making it 60 FPS will ruin the game's flow and balance. That's according to them, we'll see when someone unlocks it to 60 FPS.

90% of Tales games are 60 FPS in battle. The next Tales game on PS4 is 60 FPS. Zestiria is an exception and not a goal they ever want to hit. Whether or not this game is a the greatest selling Tales game ever...will not influence whether or not they made more 30 FPS games.

Therefore anyone who doesn't want to get the game because of 30 FPS, you can still get the game when someone unlocks it to 60 FPS. Like I said, you're not telling the developers that you want 30 FPS when you buy the game. I'm pretty sure 60 FPS is always their target goal.

I scanned the entire topic and didn't see anyone address this, sorry if I am answering something that was already said.

Preordered it yesterday when it was clear it'd hit the third tier. Never got to play Symphonia (was considering getting it on PS3 some time ago), and no PS4, so better going with pc.
