The game is good, but this is just pure cringe.

Based on only 9 reviews so far so this thread is a bit premature, I think. Not my kind of game, but the hype around the game is interesting. When I look at the Steam reviews......it looks like a really great game, but hardly perfect.

It's good, nobody is denying that, but its not a 10/10. These "journalists" are falling for the hype and will be too afraid to pick holes in the game in case the rabid retards fanbase strike back.

It's cringe. The hype around it is absurd.

Frankly a bit stunned by the hype surrounding this game.

I bounced off the first one, so can't say I see anything all that different with the second instalment.
Same, I'm not even sure why it's got the hype it has. I feel like I'm out of the loop. Gives me Alien Hominid flash game vibes if anyone even remembers that?

Didn't like HK at all but will give this a try. I liked the music and style/vibe but my god was it boring and felt homebrew.

If it's more of the same, this could be the most overrated series in video game history

Obviously it'll go down (it's now 98 on OC with 10 reviews, and 100 on MC with 4 reviews) but seeing that 100 was quite the look, I've never seen that in a game before. :messenger_ok:

Not even close. Claire is a masterpiece. My second favorite RPG, only after FFX.
Clair Obscur is a masterpiece as long as you don't speak french.
Those songs at certain very emotional moments and during the final boss, what a purge :messenger_tears_of_joy:
It is like fighting sephiroth and instead of one winged angel you hear some senior year girl who just got dumped sings about her feelings in a very cringe way.

I'm playing it on Switch and it's been ok. Nothing bad. I would still rank most DS Castlevania games as more rewarding. I hit a bug 3 times until it dies and I'm traveling in a forest. I've got similar vibes with the Ori games. I know people with Hollow Knight tattoos. Whatever floats their boat.
It's not too late to disengage immediately and just be friendless.

I think the mist realistic review Ive seen basically said its a competent Metroidvania with no innovations and thats exactly what it is, just good. Easy to recommend but 100/100? Hell no.

I could say the same about any lyrics in native language for a song to be honest.

Rarely there are games with good lyrics for native speakers. It's always mostly cringe. Which is why companies or directors mostly use a language that is an often foreign to the masses. Metal Gear solid is a prime example for the main theme in mgs1 and mgs4 .

I always found snake eater so cringe to listen to for example, only to later correct it self mid song a little.

With that being said I speak a little French and I found the songs are actually ok.

94 on OC now.

They've also rolled out a difficulty patch. I haven't touched the game, but I'm guessing the difficulty probably was an issue if they rolled out some nerfs this quickly from release.

Theater kids are gonna theater kids in every langage or culture, i agree with you on this.

I don't rally remember about MGS I and II themes, but i remember Snake Eater james bond like intro.
Im really not convinced Kojima, a well known reverse weeaboo (think Cowboy Tanaka) used english, the language most commonly associated with hollywood-action-espionnage-movies, for his hollywood-action-espionnage-movie type game because he wanted the japanese audience not to cringe.
tho knowing kojigoon, it might just be because he cannot masturbate to any other language

It's more of the same, but better. If you liked Hollow Knight, you will like this. If you didn't like the OG, you won't like this

A lot of people grew to love HK over the last eight years, and the game never quite got its flowers when it originally released (the original reviews were pretty sparse and low, and it only got one nomination at that year's TGA), so Silksong is just representing a pent up release of sorts

It's interesting, because a friend of mine couldn't get into HK but he's loving Silksong. Personally I put easily 5 or more hours into HK, and to me it seemed I was getting quite far but I easily dropped it too and never came back.

I'm glad people love it, but I'll never understand this immense hype, at all.

How are we in the age of our Lord 2025 and SOTN is NOT available on modern hardware? How is that a thing?
