I wonder what everyone will do when they (prediction) release Chapters 3-5 as DLC with new directors. Will the microtransaction spunk be too much to bear?
For what it's worth, I pledged to defend a bunch of strangers and got a big payoff for basically doing nothing, so it doesn't bother me when I get robbed. Still, I can see how it really sucks if you want a pure offline experience.

Konami cancelled Kojima's game, and opted to halt core game development in favor of mobile and pachinko. Yet for some reason you think Kojima, not the higher-ups at Konami, is the most likely culprit here for the micro transactions. What kind of reasoning is that? What would the incentive even be for Kojima to demand or request micro transactions in his game? Has he ever stated appreciation for f2p games? I never said wholly responsible, I said complicit. The inherent mission-based/GMP/metagame/1v1 multiplayer design loaned itself well to that kind of exploitation, and that presumably is on him. He was the one who said he wanted it to be like a bigger Peace Walker, after all.

How exactly does it manifest in offline singleplayer? Are resources and defending your base offline an integral part of your offline singleplayer experience? (When I'm going to play the game later this year, or next year, I hope there will be mods or hacks to counter this then)

If this is true I'm done with the game. That's fucking bullshit. I play offline because I have no interest in the FOBs plus just being online makes the menus and map crawl. If they're really so petty that they're going to punish me for that they can screw themselves.

It's not that weird at all. Age colours our perspective on everything. You were 8 or 9 years old when horse armour was a thing. My kid brother is only a year younger than you and would probably react the same way, acting all "whatevs" and all.

I've been playing everyday since the new patch. Online, fob and everything and I don't know what menu you use to even buy the insurance. If I didn't read gaming sites I probably wouldn't even know about it. I've never said the insurance isn't stupid, but it is totally inaccurate to say that they try to "funnel you into it".
Judging by all of the losses people are reporting, it sure appears that way. As for myself, I bailed on the game due to how mind-numbing it was before any of this new shit was introduced. I did finally try MGO tonight, though. It's not something I will be spending any time with, either.
Hmm. I haven't experienced any actual (permanent) loss of resources/GMP. I'm deducted of the resources/GMP that are contingent on being online (these are identified in parentheses with a global icon), but no permanent loss.

I think I act more proactive in my writing then just saying "whatever." Age does color our perspective on things but Im not your brother. My copy is still shrink wrapped, can I avoid this nonsense FOB mode if I only care about the story and some side missions? What impact, if any, does it have on sp? What about on MGO, that's a whole separate thing isn't it?

Depends how you play.
You get your FOB, you unlock a lot of stuff, you die a little inside as you are asked to wait hours for a gun to get made.
It is all incredibly fucking stupid and insulting.
But... You don't actually use any of it. Gaining soldiers? Pointless. Unlocking guns you'll never use? Not worth your time. Waiting months for processing of fuel so you can upgrade your base to get an ability you don't even try out? Why bother.
Just start a mission, select your trusty tranq gun and off you go.
So it is a strange one for me. All this shit konami added has no place in a retail title, let alone a metal gear game. But it is all kind of irrelevant to how I play metal gear anyway.
I'm sure you can avoid it somehow, but at a certain point it becomes a detriment to your item unlock progress to not expand with the FOB. I can't imagine toiling away, trying to level up and dismissing soldiers I've fultoned because I refuse to expand. Absolutely crazy.

I logged in once to sync the app, because playing offline made the iDroid more responsive, and lost men, resources and GMP (giving me a negative balance) and I haven't logged on since.
You don't loose anything that transferred to FOB unless someone steal it. If you only got 3 tanks in your Mother Base, try selling all 3. In a few, another 3 tanks will transfer From your FOB to your mother base.
Same with the resources. If you sold your resources , FOB will transfer their resources to your mother base from Online resources.
I know its kinda shitty & i blame Konami. But nothing is lost unless someone steal it.

Also for anyone who want to skip the FOB. I say don't skip it.Just play connected to online. its fun. its another mother base. You can upgrade it easily. Your wait list will be full of soldiers when you are creating a FOB. Its a really good way to level up your Base levels. Also so far i played around 90 hours. Im in Mission

side missions. I still didnt get infiltrated by an enemy. I really want to get infiltrated. But its sad to say. still NO ONE infiltrated my BASE. No one steals anything. And im Building a

People paranoid about FOB stuff really shouldn't bother worrying. You can do nothing with it and people won't waste their time invading you. There really isn't any benefit to playing offline. I have had an FOB since mission 22, been online the whole time and have not been invaded once
though I my have tricked the game into not letting that happen.
